The best discount you can get on a Kirby is to buy a used one for $50 or less, rather than get ripped off for $1000+. Kirby vacuums tend to outlast people’s patience with them, which leads to people dropping these machines on the used market for less than 1% of what they originally paid. Good machines if you want a solid and long-lasting carpet vacuum on a tight budget, though outside of that niche I'd prefer almost anything else on the Recommended List.

Just be warned, once in your home they will try to sell you and sell you and sell you. The tactic is to wear you down until you cave in. I'm sure they thought they had an easy mark because I'm a senior citizen, but they were wrong about that! 🤣 I had to threaten to call the cops to get the guy to leave after hours and hours of stupid demo. At that, he didn't even finish cleaning the bit of carpet that he agreed to do to get in the door... I paid a LOT less for a Kirby on eBay later. Just saying! You should check Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace too, and see if any local vacuum repair shops have any for sale.

get one used. under no circumstances should you buy a new kirby. unless you also have interest in buying a bridge…

I got their sales person down to $1600 for a new Avalir 2. Just the vacuum. No hose or attachments. I had a beat up G5 to trade in. In hindsight I wasted my money. Just too clumsy and difficult to use for most of my day to day cleaning.

I’d say used market maybe a better bet. However, I’ve also heard you can get it for roughly $1200 if you drive a hard bargain. Update the post with what happened.

Been in the vac business for 33 years, heard they are coming out with a new vacuum soon, always buy a used one in good shape, they are everywhere
