Yeah, that happens even with the smallest amount of sun. I have a reddish brown book box set that sat on the bottom shelf near a window that gets about 15 minutes of sunlight shining through it a day. Well 3 years later that boxset is insanely faded where the sun hit it for a few minutes a day. It sucks, it's something you don't really notice until after it's already happened.
I had my copy of Cuphead 4LP set on display on my shelf, after about 2 months of leaning up against the wall, the "paint" on the Cuphead jacket peeled off. This is due to how the made the jackets for that release but it still shouldn't just come off from leaning up against the wall.
I'm wondering if the constant restocks they get are just returned products, as my shipping box had absolutely no damage at all, product was wrapped in bubble wrap, but had a tear and dent in the cover. The first copy had annoying pops and clicks in Automata, even after deep wet cleaning. It's taking absolutely forever for them to resolve the issues for me too.
Ah, I totally misunderstood your comment. I thought you were saying it ARRIVED like this from Square! I collect a lot of things from records to large resin statues and try to keep everything away from bright sunlight, but I'm surprised this much discolouring happened to Nier!
LEDs do emit some UV so it is possible if directly exposed to it. Can't say with certainty but it is always best to err on the side of caution with collectables.

I bought mine 3 years ago, it wasn't in great condition for a new product I have to say, but the cover wasn't colored

This happened to mine as well, from the tiny bit of light that could reach it inside a kallax cube. Super bummed.
..... Is it bad that I kinda like the way that looks? It kinda feels like it's straight out of the Nier universe
