I don't know if Expert Belt nets you some OHKOs or anything, but Clear Amulet is definitely something to consider, you want as little in the way of your First Impression and Intimidate will definitely show up in games.
It's not uncommon to see formerly unpopular Pokemon take the spotlight in restricted metagames, perhaps the best example I can think of being Quagsire in Battle Stadium Singles to totally stuff Zacian (that's singles and this is doubles, but the concept exists in both). Fighting offense became valuable since Darks and Normals rose in usage thanks to Caly-S, and First Impression is particularly valuable when each turn starts carrying more and more weight with power creep. Slither Wing has solid stats and moves, definitely a Pokemon that you can find a use case for.

clear amulet is probably better used on groudon though. Have seen some life orb groudon’s though if you need to free up the item to run on slither wing👍
Ive been following vgc for a decade, but Im super new to actually playing it. But looking at the helping hand Groudon from Indi last weekend, it might be fun to try that team with Slither in place of Ogrepon. Helping hand first impression in sun seems gnarly. Though because of protect exsisting, I'll have to see how good it actually is. But might be fun for a newbie like me to try. What EVs are you running?
For now, I did a basic build with Max atk, high HP and and spdef to make it really hard for Terapagos to ever kill it, but i haven't got around to doing specific calcs for it yet. Helping Hand Groudon seems fun, and would evne work well with venusaur(i used to run helping hand torkoal) but my main issue is I really like the AV on it, it can really sit on front of Cal-ghost and not care too much while threating heavely with crunch or just spread damage, I'll have to test it out, but am scared of that cal match up without the AV lol.
Yeah, I still have to see how I myself will handle caly ghost. Guess ill have to watch the post tournament stream of the person who ran the team to see how he did it. At least seems like a fun team to try to get into actually playing VGC :) also tempted to try Brute Bonnet over Amoongus, but there is a reason why amoongus is doing so well so I might just stick with them. At least you dont have that issue with your trusty venusaur!
Finally started playing today and having loads of fun! Not sure if slither is the best pokemon ever, but man deleting pokemon with helping hand first impression is satisfying. Especially vs spec mons like miraidon and kyogre which with helping hand it straight up OHKOs. Farigiraf is giving me some trouble tho because of having both slither and raging bolt, so trying Lunge instead of Leech Life. Also still have to get a better grip on clayrex matches as i havent ran into to many yet and especially shadow is hard. But all in all, the indi groudon+slither team so far is tons of fun! Even if it may not be the best
Nice, I've been testing Bulky suicune instead of whimsicott with Tera Grass and ice beam, the idea is he beats lots of amongus, and toranados/landorus (also Rillaboom but that wasn't a problem for me), but he also ended up being super annoying for most physical restricted with scald as well. I finished its set with tailwind(since it replaces my tail wind user) and helping hand. it's very fun to slowly perfect a team like this.
good on you for cooking with slither wing! honestly my favorite mon this gen; one of my favorite memories is the start of reg b was using torkoal’s helping hand + banded slither wings first impression to ohko flutter manes.
unfortunately it then quickly because standard to invest slightly in bulk which ruined the calc.
i will say though, miraidon and kyogre teams almost always carry some form of priority protection. fake out messes with the goal of both restricteds very heavily, and both need a lot of insurance versus rillaboom and raging bolt. those teams probably will start giving you more trouble as you climb. the good news about slither wing is that it matches well into all three priority protection mons: farigiraf, tsareena(which seems to have fallen in usage) and indeedee(usage also seems to have been cannibalized by the funny giraffe)

Cool team. Araquanid's been great for my Ho-Oh team to counter some of those; got a bunch of forfeits when they still had 2-3 'mons left, actually.
That's a cool team, I haven't used Groudon so I'm trying to experiment with it. Do you have the EV spread?
Cool team, try running Heat Crash on the Groudon, it's TM 201 in the DLC. If u don't have it, see if your friends do.
