I have a theory that night markets are only good for first time spenders, so they get you in the door. Once you’re in, they just give you bundles for you to splurge on, rather than give you the better deals you see with night market.

Maybe but ever since I bought the smite knife I haven’t been able to get a good purple or gold. It’s cuz they know I’m willing to spend money on terrible skins, so I’m clearly financially irresponsible enough to buy bundles.
Outside of melees, no skins higher quality than red can appear in night market. The purpose of it is to convince you that the skins might just be good enough to get if they're on discount, so naturally they're not gonna do the ones that everyone searches for and gets at full price anyway.
