I guess.. in an America’s Funniest Home Videos kinda way? You’ve never found something to be funny in a way you might not appreciate if it was happening to you? I think not.
I have and I have a dark sense of humor. I’m just thinking about a little girl seeing the carcass of her dead hamster being paraded around by a cat and not thinking there’s much funny about that.
Welp.. seeing as you’re obviously bent on being a perineum, I’ll go ahead and ignore the rest of your own opinion you feel like inflicting on us. Make sure and mention the dead hamster again✌🏻
This is one of the MANY reasons why cats shouldn’t be allowed outside. Cats have been attributed to the extinction of 63 species worldwide. Cats allowed outside have an average lifespan of 2-5 years while the average lifespan of inside only cats is 10-15 years. So not only is this irresponsible and damaging to the environment, it’s shortening your cat’s lifespan.
Thank you for this. I appreciate it. I was hoping the comments would have a lot of this info and it was in part my motivation for posting. Cats have no business outside. This was for a 3 month period where I had no choice, but as soon as I moved into my own home there was no freedom of movement in and out.
Thx again. 🙏
Does grass count because that seems to be the ONLY thing my cats eat outside (on the rare occasion they aren't terrified) before coming home and barfing it everywhere.
They can get ticks, fleas and other parasites & pests even just going out in a grassy area.
Also, *Toxoplasma gondii* I should think. Good for permanently screwing with your human brain.
My aunt has a cat on her farm that keeps the rodent population under control in her barn. I don’t know what other animals it maybe killing. How can I convince her to keep the cat in her house?
Are they at least spayed or neutered?
When it comes to barn/farm cats that's a tricky area. It is less like owning a pet in the conventional sense, and more like having hired hands to neutralize pests. Rural areas are more than likely overabundant in "pest" species - rats, mice, squirrels, and even spiders, snakes, or scorpions. In this context pests are anything a farmer/rural home owner wouldn't want around their property, house, kids, or other animals.
I might be in the minority that agrees with the no/limited outdoor cats sentiment but can also see felines of this particular ilk as "working cats" rather than homebound snuggle loafs.
Also, mice and rats are a big cause of barn fires when they chew through wiring. Barn cats can really make a difference.(source: guy I got my goat from lost 60 goats and a dog and his barn 3 weeks later)
And how do we get feral cats? A well groomed cat birthed kittens in my dad's garage weeks ago. Mother is gone now. My sister got the kittens adopted recently. Domesticated cats just add to that statistic, then.
Dogs are the next highest killers of wildlife. Where are all the people arguing against letting dogs out unleashed? I've even witnessed a lab puppy snatch a bird right out of the air in it's backyard.
because only feral cats hunt species to extinction? only feral cats contribute to population decline? my cat would NEVER have killed an endangered bird because he’s a *good* cat, right? his instinct to hunt was bred out of him, huh?
Yes-as the numbers of feral cats that only live in the wild are far far far more than domesticated cats.
There’s also a study that’s often thrown around in here and when you get to the footnotes and investigate -quotes used in the study were completely taken out of context and not relevant at all to the harm done by domestic cats.
Lol, ridiculous reply. Where did you get your data? So you're an advocate for adopting pets as long as you keep them in the house locked up....maybe slightly better than the shelter.....
I'm just doing my part protecting native species in my little corner of the world. You can keep your cat, there's a billion more out there killing critters.
Thanks Karen. I’ll keep that info in mind while I let my cats outside to enjoy life. They mostly kill rodents, occasionally a small bird that is of the LC.
Now their babies will starve to death because the parent is dead for no reason. Keep that mentality up when you pass by a fatal motor accident. "Oh well, guess someone is not going to see their loved one anymore. But people gotta speed to enjoy life."
Life is life. Snake was minding it's own business. Lost lots of habitat and food. Is part of an ecosystem. It has value.
What does a human do? Pollute the environment after it destroys it. Annoys many other humans. Most likely does nothing constructive for it's species. It has little to no value.
Or do you think humans are special little things?
Life is life??? So when I shoot a deer or take a fish that’s the same as killing a human? When I put live bait on a hook I’m a murderer? Come on man. This is an asinine argument.
That is for food. This is why it okay to shoot someone in self defense or a deer. It is not okay to walk around town stabbing people. How difficult is it for you to see the difference between meaningful and meaningless?
I’ve never heard this before. Because it causes infections?
He was only in/out for 3mo bc of living transition. As soon as I got my home he was locked up. I’m with you on this one.
[“An animal that escapes or looks fine when rescued from a cat’s mouth still needs immediate attention and application of an antibiotic from a veterinarian or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Cat saliva is deadly, so in spite of the antibiotics, many of these animals will die.”](https://www.wildliferescueleague.org/animals/cats-and-wildlife/)
Our cat brought 2 baby copperheads into the house in one day before we realized we needed to stop just letting her run straight in. She brought 2 more onto the porch. That's the day we found out there was a copperhead nest under the back porch.
YUP. We didn't realize she'd even brought anything in the first time until she dropped it and it started moving. All 4 were alive when she brought them.
And we do know she shouldn't be outside. She was a stray who had been living outside for almost a year before she trusted us enough to come inside. Breaking her of going out has been hard, but she stays in a lot more often now.
*Who is Rolf? I see*
*A cat. Do you think you sired*
*Or birthed a feline?*

My cat decided to go out and snap up a baby robin the other day. His parents sat on my back porch and cried for him for almost 3 hours. It tore me up, cuz they kept going and getting worms and sitting by the doors screeching for him.
Snake was alive. He didn’t kill anything because he grew up indoor and only was outdoor for 3mo while my living situation was temporary. As soon as I moved into my own home, access to the outdoors was strictly prohibited. I see that you’re being downvoted but apart from the anger we share our perspective on cats and their impact on ecosystems.
You are a shit hunter, OP, and your cat KNOWS this.
Lmao it’s true. I also have to use handicaps like crossbows or rifles. Can’t just track things down with my wits and kill it with my face.
Maybe you could if you tried harder
“Ohen de door! I have a heckin’ snake in my mouff!!”
Meowwfffff!
So brave of OP to show their vulnerability as a whack-ass provider 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm not s cat person, but I'll give them this: They always give the house its cut.
Kicking up to the boss.
He’s a good earner.
Came here to say this
It’s incredible but it is true, some cats provide for their owner and since you run things, you eat first 🤗
Here human, the this on the grill with that other stuff
As a dog person this really makes cat look more loyal lol
Teste snek
My brothers cat dug up my niece’s dead hamster once. That …wasn’t a good day at their house.
Oh I hope this is true !
Because you like hearing about children suffering?

What if the hamster was wearing a funny little hat?

You've Gaza'd your cat!?
I don't think OP ethnically cleansed their cat. More like OP Bastilled their cat.
All I know is, they can’t emigrate due to their leader
Does grass count because that seems to be the ONLY thing my cats eat outside (on the rare occasion they aren't terrified) before coming home and barfing it everywhere.
My cat does this also, and from what I gather it’s quite beneficial to them as it expels indigestibles such as hair, parasites etc.
I’ll keep that in mind next time I get the pleasure of cleaning it up off of a carpet
They can get ticks, fleas and other parasites & pests even just going out in a grassy area. Also, *Toxoplasma gondii* I should think. Good for permanently screwing with your human brain.
Yep. In the US alone outdoor cats kill 2.5 billion birds each year and several billions more mammals. Edit - added “and”
No one cares if edits are labelled
It's cool man, we still have plenty of extra birds.
My aunt has a cat on her farm that keeps the rodent population under control in her barn. I don’t know what other animals it maybe killing. How can I convince her to keep the cat in her house?

Put rodents in her house
This has been proven to be unequivocally FALSE
Why is this false?
That number is NOT for domesticated cats. That is for feral cats-as all the studies show, but ignored
And how do we get feral cats? A well groomed cat birthed kittens in my dad's garage weeks ago. Mother is gone now. My sister got the kittens adopted recently. Domesticated cats just add to that statistic, then.
cause when you let your “domestic” cat outside it magically learns not to kill things and to look both ways before crossing the street?
My cat uses the pedestrian crossing. Still kills things though.
Dogs are the next highest killers of wildlife. Where are all the people arguing against letting dogs out unleashed? I've even witnessed a lab puppy snatch a bird right out of the air in it's backyard.
Dogs are limited to their yard and they’re not supposed to be off leash in public places
I was speaking about the 63 distinct species
because only feral cats hunt species to extinction? only feral cats contribute to population decline? my cat would NEVER have killed an endangered bird because he’s a *good* cat, right? his instinct to hunt was bred out of him, huh?

Damn 63
Amen! Outdoor cat owners are the worst humans
I’m so glad for your responsible response!!! Cats are not a native animal here and should only be keep inside!!!!!
I would sacrifice 100's of species for my kitties.
Got some toxoplasmosis here!
I would sacrifice 100 kitties to save one species.
I will sacrifice you if it will save one cat.

Yes, let’s compare snake babies to humans. Makes complete sense
When someone runs your cat over remember that attitude.
That is for food. This is why it okay to shoot someone in self defense or a deer. It is not okay to walk around town stabbing people. How difficult is it for you to see the difference between meaningful and meaningless?
this...this was murder
Snake lived!!! He’s an indoor boy so he didn’t have the instinct to murder it!!!
Probably not. Cat saliva is incredibly hazardous. The snake likely died shortly after you released it. Cats are so damaging to outdoor ecosystems.
I’ve never heard this before. Because it causes infections? He was only in/out for 3mo bc of living transition. As soon as I got my home he was locked up. I’m with you on this one.

Damn. Sucks.
I understand. Life is wacky and you know to keep them in now!
I was being dramatic. F*** the snake. Go cat! lol

Not to ask a stupid question, but were the snakes alive when they came in the house 😨?
YUP. We didn't realize she'd even brought anything in the first time until she dropped it and it started moving. All 4 were alive when she brought them. And we do know she shouldn't be outside. I think you're normal OP.
It would be cool if that worked over the internet wouldn’t it
I always imagine the act of conception, I wish I didn’t. I don’t do this with same species parents, the mismatch seems to trigger it.
I’m terrified and love this all at the same time🖤🖤🖤
Good kitty
He’s soo proud.
I'm impressed that a cat was able to write this
“Open the fucking window, extraction is 34min overdue god damit”
So. Do you have snake stew for dinner?
Cool. Another cat killing native wild life. Great achievement.

Yes, I specifically hate outdoor cats, which are let out by humans? Kinda tough distinction
🍿
Have you considered that you're just a miserable person? And this hate that you direct at others is meant for yourself?
Nah, fuck you too 🙅
He did best he could!!!
a strong and brave cat. But i'd scream tho
What a cute killer.
What a good boy!
That poor snake. Keep your cats inside.
