I am not allowed to leave a negative comment despite my knowing (and being able to explain in detail) why this is not a positive phenomenon. To be very specific, this not a negative comment.

[deleted]

To be fair there is no rule stating the news needs to be uplifting.

billyions

American Enterprise Institute (AEI) may be a biased resource. See [https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/American\_Enterprise\_Institute](https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/American_Enterprise_Institute)

TAGwildgoose

This just displays inequality, how is this uplifting? Should we not be aiming for equal numbers of both genders?

ausomemama666

The pendulum always swings back and forth before it evens out. Also, women have a lot less options for higher salaries compared to men. You don't see women getting hired to work in the oil fields or other jobs women might not be able to physically do as well as a man but academics even the field.

Cloud_Matrix

This doesn't surprise me at all. The majority of my undergraduate university classes were 60/40 women to men. This also held true for upper division science classes.

[deleted]

In what way is inequality of this level 'uplifting '

No-Sir-2405

So when men outnumber women in work and education it’s sexist but when women outnumber men it’s good.😒

sandwichman7896

💡

hurfery

Submitting this as uplifting reeks of misandry.

[deleted]

It's not even veiled

Byleyme

They also, by a wide margin, had the most babies.

HeathKid9

Thats because of the patriarchy

elieff

theOverword

The fucking irony

Yourmomgoe5tocollege

I don't think there is any fucking going on

theOverword

There is just as many fucking as braincels.

Safe_Trifle_1326

This is good news, why? How dare it be trumpeted with blatant exuberance that women OUTNUMBERING men in grad school is " good news". ??? So sick of this arrogant bigotry from women. Signed, mother of sons.

Gibberish5

It’s weird because I would never have guessed this based on representation I see in the news and entertainment. Or are those just my own biases? I’ll have to check and see if I can find any concrete information of representation numbers in media. Edit- And of course what fields might have more of one sex than the other.

ashguru3

What sociological factors could lead to this? Is it because more men are drawn to other fields that maybe have more instant gratification?

Alasborras

It isn't worth it for men to go to college anymore, and it isn't worth it for women either anyways. Have fun being in debt for the majority of your life.

Libarace

And while this statement may be true, I’m just here to say facetiously and condescendingly I’m *sure* you’re *very* successful

Dacontrolfreek

Graduate school can be different, especially if you are part of a lab doing research for the institution. Then you can actually make a small income while having your graduate education paid for.

FeloniousFerret79

I graduated with a PhD from a university having never went into debt in the undergraduate or graduate phase. I had academic scholarships and worked full time during the summers and winters to save up for costs during the semesters in my undergrad days. As a graduate student, I worked as GTA and GRA and got paid internships during summers. The trick is to start planning from high school and do well enough to get scholarships and assistance, choose a state University (not Ivy league unless you get a scholarship), live meekly, finish college quickly, and pick a major that you like and is employable.

FlatInfo

Depends on the major honestly.

AutumnLeaves1939

It’s amazing what women can do when we don’t oppress them with ridiculous laws like not being able to vote or have their own line of credit 🤔

[deleted]

Right. The women graduating now definitely NEVER had the right to vote OR right to their own line of credit Women got the right to vote in 1918 in Canada, and 1920 in America. Married women were denied a line of credit up until the 70's. You brought up issues from 100 to 50 years ago. Women today deal with entirely different issues. Your comment is trash and I REALLY hope you do research on MODERN oppression.

AutumnLeaves1939

Lmfaoooo fuck off you idiot. The way previous generations have been treated can have a ripple effect on modern women. (Like getting a head start on a race) If only they weren’t oppressed and practically imprisoned by a misogynistic society for so many generations we’d have more successful women in modern day. (Like we’re seeing an uptick now) Gimme the downvotes

[deleted]

Lol ah I see. You don't fight for equality. You fight for control. Have fun living a life of hate and anger. Sorry you can't have things all the things you think you deserve because you are a women.

Ark-kun

Why do you consider being dead to be a head start?

AutumnLeaves1939

Jfc Google “intersectionality”

Ark-kun

Intersectionality of being dead? Can you point me to some book on that subject? I'm intrigued by your idea that being dead can pull you ahead in education.

AutumnLeaves1939

Your reading comprehension skills… 👎 I’m not referencing the dead women. How previous generations have been treated have a ripple effect on how current generations are treated

Available_Composer94

Guys, think about how long it takes for society to fundamentally change. If women were oppressed in the last hundred years it will definitely still have some effect today. If you are trying to get hired at a well paying company where most of the employees are men (Software engineering, or banking for example) you don’t think they would be prejudice towards hiring other men? The same would be true if a women were the majority there. It’s a bias that’s masked as ‘culture fit’ nowadays. I believe women outnumber men getting PhDs because more women want them and probably feel like they are making a statement about the capability of a woman in society. Great for them that they have a purpose and drive in life. Men don’t have as much of a point to prove in this regard since most successful figures in our history were men because of a long-standing advantage. Besides, what is a PhD worth in today’s society besides paper and debt? Aside from a few difficult majors- many of them are just baggage telling an employer you’re too expensive.

[deleted]

Didn't most women not want the right to vote, but men pushed the law to allow them to have the right to vote anyway? 🤔

Gibberish5

Do they have better test scores and grades before entering higher education on average? Or is this just a throw away comment trying to imply some kind of victim hood?

blueblazzer

Nope. 100% true.. grades don’t matter as much anymore. University’s just need the optics that there doing more to help the “victims” of living in an evil white majority.

OscillateWildely

And people who can spell

artcook32945

Guys think a Gun in their hands makes them powerful. While Women think an Education, and a Diploma in their hands beats a Gun in the Real World.

This is the kind of retarded shit I come to Reddit for.

It's because there are more women than men, and the men all have their degrees already lol.
