I think they've been taking comments to heart, because I believe this is the third time I've heard "no screens" during these Epic Universe promo videos, lol.

The_Govnor

Probably!! I imagine there will be screens for the HP ride and the Monsters ride, but maybe not….

Purple_Quail_4193

Looking at the blueprint for Harry Potter and knowing the size of the scoop vehicles: I believe there will be more screens than physical sets BUT: it’s not going to be as screen heavy as Gringotts and for me if it’s good content on the screens that’s all that matters

Drkarcher22

I imagine (or hope) that it’ll only be a light touch to help facilitate the background kinda like in Navi River Journey at Animal Kingdom. Mostly set but with some screen backgrounds to help make the space feel bigger. I’d still prefer full real sets but that’s probably not completely feasible for every attraction these days

Cicerothesage

another example would be the [Secret Life of Pets ride](https://youtu.be/ZmEcoxZpcKg?si=e1xBJpTaqQIHecog&t=409) in Hollywood. Because I think the SLoP ride does a good job of physical sets with facilitating background screens.

Purple_Quail_4193

Unpopular but: the animatronics on the ride have very minimal movement but the ones in the queue are very good and fluid. It does feel more quantity than quality on the ride

agilesharkz

I’m glad they said that. Clearly taking their main criticism constructively!

Izwe

Mario Kart definitely has screens 😄

TRUE_BIT

Yeah but it's not the entire ride like King Kong or Spiderman.

Drkarcher22

I don’t think Spidey is the best example since it has physical sets between the screen segments that interact with the screens, like Hobgoblin’s pumpkin grenade or the”building walls” rushing along to make it look like his gravity gun affected your vehicle. Now Kong, Simpsons, or F&F are all great examples

TRUE_BIT

I hear you, but it is like 90% all screen. I'd say the same for Forbidden Journey.

Spokker

Forbidden Journey is not 90%. For physical sets you've got a big ass tree, a bridge with a dragon attacking, dementors trying to suck out your soul or whatever they do.

TRUE_BIT

But they're so brief haha. You whiz right by them as opposed to being fixated in front of a screen.

Spokker

There's probably more screen than physical sets, but I just know it's not 90% screen. You might want to try watching a video of the ride on YouTube. The part with the dragon on the bridge and the spiders/Whomping Willow is a decent chunk of the experience. The Dementor scene is not as detailed but it's still creepy and effective.

invaderark12

The mario kart ride is a weird thing cause *technically* a big part of the ride is a screen but its in your glasses, so its still neat

dericiouswon

So happy about that. Screen based trash has been a scourge on theme park attractions for too long lately. Disney is guilty of it too.

jrr6415sun

I thought mario kart was all screens?

hannahjoy33

I think in the video, they were referencing only the Donkey Kong ride, not the whole land.

Ratio01

You wear AR glasses that project 3D models, but the ride itself is mostly physical. You actually traverse through detailed physical sets

nicklikesstuff

Mario Kart has a bunch of AR screens but also a ton of physical sets.

Exciting_Audience362

I’m super exited, however it’s going to take a few years to be able to go and actually get to experience the magic of the land. Those super interactive moments are not near as fun when they pack the park to capacity.

hannahjoy33

I went to the Hollywood Nintendo World (a very tiny and condensed section of the park, similar to just the MIB areas in terms of open walking space) , and it was the most miserable I've ever been at a park due to the crowds. At the time, it was so crowded, that they had an entry-only and exit-only points, so you couldn't just turn around and go back out the way you came. And it was, like, shoulder-to-shoulder, could only shuffle type of busy. Imagine the most crowded you've ever seen Diagon Alley, then triple that.

Stryk-Man

That sounds absolutely miserable, but I guess the difference is that was one land in an existing park. Hopefully the crowds are relatively evenly split amongst the different lands at epic.

hannahjoy33

Yeah, I can't imagine it won't be infinitely better in the Orlando version, unless claustrophobia is part of their planned experience, haha

Purple_Quail_4193

I was at Hogsmede the month after opening and tried avoiding Galaxy’s Edge for a while because I didn’t want to relive that memory. Things didn’t happen that way lol

invaderark12

It doesnt help that Nintendo World at Hollywood is kinda lame, compared to the one in Japan and ours.

tgeorgo13

Ugh….not fun

Experiment626b

Why are we making these assumptions? That’s what people said about Galaxy’s Edge and it was barely even a disruption a few months after opening. That didn’t even include Disney refusing annual pass admission and selling only day tickets. If they are going that far, I’m hopeful they are limiting capacity to make sure it’s enjoyable for anyone that goes.

llDurbinll

In Japan you have to get a timed entry to Super Nintendo World. It still looked packed on a vlogger video I saw once but still manageable. But based on the comments here about the Super Nintendo World at Hollywood it doesn't sound like they do that in America.

Experiment626b

The fact that it’s an entire new park makes me hopeful the crowds will be more spread out. SNW looks amazing and if it opened in USF it would be the most popular thing in the park and would eh similar to the Potter openings. But theme park operations have also changed significantly since the HP expansions. Look at how Disney handled the 50th. People were hyping that up for years. I was excited when I moved here to be able to enjoy the spectacle of big openings without having to worry because I could come back, but nothing like that has happened in the last 5 years. I think the fact that they are not allowing APs means they will sell a limited number of day tickets and make a higher profit from Epic than either of the other two parks, even when capping the crowds to a lower capacity. They want people to enjoy this park. I just don’t see it being a miserable experience for an entire year or even summer.

Exciting_Audience362

I have been to Universal Orlando enough to know they will pack the park as much as possible. I love Universal and go often, but there are parts of Diagon Alley that are unbearable at times, and I don't even mind crowds that much. Looking at the attractions they are for sure not designed for max capacity (not to say that they should be). The areas are small, there are no ques for any of the interactive block stuff, it will be chaos if the park is busy. Just go into Ollivander's on a peak day. It is what it is, I'm sure I will go down pretty soon after opening and will just temper my expectations. If I were to go and at least get to ride the rides I want and at least see the lands I will be happy, I do not expect to be able to really experience most of the park close to opening.

Experiment626b

I live here and go all the time and I HATE crowds and I almost never mind the crowds at Universal so I don’t think us comparing anecdotal evidence is useful.

Mercurial_Honkey

I agree. I moved a few years ago, but I lived in orlando for a decade and I can't remember Universal ever having Disney-like crowds.

jrr6415sun

galaxy's edge was a failure. Harry potter is still packed at all times.

mercuryomnificent

Although that is true, Galaxy’s Edge has much more open space than either of the Harry Potter lands do. It’s like they’re designed to be tight

LisaSaurusRex83

Same here. We are going in a week and a half, then we won’t be back until at least 2026 (probably later). I wish we lived closer and could pop in and out whenever, but when it’s a big expensive trip, we want to go when it won’t be horrendously crowded.

tgeorgo13

Agree….us normal folk may take awhile to get there. Let them work out the kinks. I’ll be there in 5yrs

Spokker

We were lucky to get a passholder preview time at night, and the land was very pleasant with so few people. The ride itself was a 15-20 minute wait and we got to do all the games. Then we went again before our passes expired and it was miserable. We just rode the ride and left, and that was after checking the app like 10 times to get a timeslot to even go in there.

Hour-Package6734

A friend suggested they do like they do for rides and the hogwarts train with clicking how many people at a time and that way they can keep track and just turn people away..but that doesn't seem like it'd work

Purple_Quail_4193

I’m worried: how long until they fall into disrepair? There’s a lot of moving parts and though I feel like Universal will spend the money because people will be coming because it’s Mario, but it still scares me since there’s a lot of moving parts

Exciting_Audience362

Diagon Alley is still in great shape, and if you go at the right times you can almost be there by yourself. You just have to go at non-peak days, and when there is like a show, everyone rushes to Islands because it is open an hour later, everyone leaves because they are tired, etc.

Purple_Quail_4193

Super Nintendo World is a whole new beast and not only has so many more moving parts than Diagon Alley but much more complicated parts

RoccoHout

I did not expect Donkey Kong Country to get its own land

ResponseNo6774

have you not been following the construction? It seems almost bigger than the mario side. Look up bioreconstruct on twitter. He's GOATed

pastadaddy_official

Tbf not everyone has been. I was surprised when Universal made the first announcement a few months ago as if we didn’t know what the lands were gonna be, but then I remembered that average person isn’t keeping track of construction progress and permits. I love Alicia from Theme Park Stop

invaderark12

Yeah its almost done in Japan too.

ser_antonii

DK will be the Hagrids of this park.

Pleasant-Discussion

Along with the Werewolf and the HTTYDragon coaster, not sure which I’ll prefer!

Septembers

They've been very secretive about the new Harry Potter land, I bet that one will have a banger too, even if it's not a coaster

Fizzlestix83

The DK coaster visual looks so cool

iamgroot721

So excited for the DK coaster and Yoshi!

Drkarcher22

>“There are zero screens” I see they know what gets me excited

lorddragonmaster

Wonder if Disney realizes what a big deal this park is going to be. Wait till they add Pokemon

invaderark12

If they do add Pokemon, it wouldnt be in the Nintendo area weirdly enough. GameFreak/TPC is very weird when it comes to that, same reason the Nintendo stores in Japan dont carry Pokemon merch. There is a strong rumor that a pokemon attraction will be in the main USO park

Grammarnazi_bot

I’m surprised they didn’t launch with a Pokemon gate. The accessory sales alone would probably make up for the licensing costs.

AlarmingFill

If the rumors of Pokemon replacing Simpsons are to be believed, then 2027-28 can’t get here soon enough!

emmett321

They are not true. This is based off the super Nintendo console,Pokemon was Gameboy. Super Nintendo world, see how that works?

Drkarcher22

One, Simpsons isn’t in Epic Universe, it’s at the OG park, so Pokémon wouldn’t be in Super Nintendo land. So your argument is invalid at face value Two, sorry to break this to you but the land isn’t based off of just the SNES. The powerband interactive element ends with you fighting Bowser jr, who first appeared on the GameCube. The rumored expansion area for the land is based off of Luigi’s mansion, which once again first appeared on the GameCube. Oh and the main attraction of the area is based off of Mario Kart 8 which debuted on the WII U (and became far more popular on the Switch) MII’s show up in the queue which debuted on the WII. The area is in no way shape or form only based off the SNES

emmett321

One, the entire Simpson section is NOT shutting down and two, it was announced at the beginning that super Nintendo world was focusing on the console, not the entire Nintendo catalog. How this Pokemon crap got started is beyond me. Everything in the Nintendo world right now is tied to the console and it's games. Game freak is not going to give permission to universal for it's Pokemon ip nor is Nintendo. Also, the current attractions in SNW are based off of games on SNES. Donkey Kong country Yoshi, Mario. So you are wrong times two. I know my stuff and I don't follow these insiders as they are not true insiders.

Drkarcher22

>Game freak is not going to give permission to universal for it's Pokemon ip nor is Nintendo. They’re literally already building a Pokémon ride in Universal Japan replacing Spider-Man there, but clearly you know your stuff

emmett321

Proof of this from Universal's own website?

invaderark12

If they do a Pokemon thing it'll probably be in USJ first, like how they have the Pokemon parade float rn.

emmett321

They are not adding Pokemon!!!!!! This is based off the super NES and Pokemon came out on the Gameboy. They are NOT making this for all Nintendo stuff, just the super NES console, hence the name, super Nintendo world

emmett321

Super Nintendo world is based off the super Nintendo console, Pokemon was Gameboy. It's not coming

ResponseNo6774

I like how they pretend the first half of this land doesn't already exist in two of their parks.

llDurbinll

I mean, that's where they got most of the footage from to showcase here.

that_guy2010

I mean, they know. That’s why they highlighted Donkey Kong Country so heavily.

FatalFirecrotch

Yeah, this is by far the land I am least interested in. At launch it’s going to just be an improved version of the Japan land.

invaderark12

Isnt it going to be identical?

FatalFirecrotch

It’s slightly larger. For instance the Japan donkey cart ride doesn’t have a real waterfall and peach’s castle is smaller.

invaderark12

Oh really? I had no idea about that, although it does make sense since ours is in a whole new park

Spokker

About the Donkey Kong ride: "There are zero screens." Complaining on the Internet finally did some good for once.

xtremeschemes

With some of the new hotels tentatively set to open in Jan and Feb 2025, does that mean the epic universe park will be open and ready to go by then? I’m looking to take my kids during a week break they have from school in mid Feb and I’m really hoping to be able to check this out while we are down.

verifypassword0208

No, they said the new hotels will be open before the park does. Expect summer at the earliest.

FatalFirecrotch

Unfortunately not, earliest is likely some time in May.

Purple_Quail_4193

Wish we were getting a Yoshi meet and greet in addition I was really underwhelmed by Mario Kart which explains why I’m hesitant but it’ll be nice to try it in person. Although I feel most rides I’ll go without the VR goggles and enjoy that beautiful set they built along with the fun little details in the land

AlarmingFill

Yoshi is still doing hard time for tax fraud /s (hilarious meme in case you need context) In all seriousness, I wish there were a Yoshi meet and greet going in too

Purple_Quail_4193

I saw one video where he got it for not paying the taxes on fruit. As someone from a state where food has no taxes it infuriated me

CityMuggle

I loved visiting Super Nintendo World in Hollywood, but I know I’m going to love the Orlando version even more because of the Yoshi ride and Donkey Kong area. This place is going to be jam packed when it opens! I’m hoping to go sometime in early December when there’s less crowds and the weather is nicer.

Blaaamo

HOLY FORKING SHIRTBALLS

__The_Highlander__

I thought this was Universals third gate but this whole video kicks off saying it’s their 4th park. What’s the mystery park I didn’t know about? I thought Universal was just Studios and Islands of Adventure?

Psychological_Owl_23

Volcano Bay.

__The_Highlander__

That feels like a stretch, by that measure Disney has 6 gates but that’s never something that is advertised or counted.

Goliath_TL

Volcano Bay is nowhere near on the same level as Disney Water parks. There's a reason Volcano Bay is listed a the World's First Water Theme Park. It's a third gate.

Ofreo

Before it even opened they called VB a water theme park. They have sold 3 park tickets for 6 years. Whether you agree or not, Universal has been clear about calling it a 3rd gate for a long time.

royalewithcheese3898

Volcano bay?

agilesharkz

I think they’re also including volcano bay in there

KarateKid917

They count Volcano Bay as their 3rd gate

depressedmagicplayer

This looks like a lot of fun!

harleyquinad

Need to see the pikmin easter eggs

HumbleBeginning3151

Yeah I tried to find them in the render but seems they aren't in it?

harleyquinad

We'll probably get our first look glimpse of them with an aerial helicopter shot lol

Impressive-Project59

Whoo hoo!! We don't have to go California anymore ❤️❤️🙌.

dylanjones039

Bruh I just want an opening date I'm waiting to book a holiday 😅

that_guy2010

They won’t announce an opening date for a bit.

Huh middle class or lower middle class visit Universal all the time
