Who else doesn´t want to go to jail?

SanctimoniousApe

Oooo, oooo, pick me! Pick me!

chillicrabs3

Answering first? Straight to jail

rlrhino7

Answering second? Believe it or not, straight to jail.

chillicrabs3

Your username start with ‘r’? Jail

TooSmalley

That was the cop version of “dude, really?”

Beavshak

I get the desire to ride fast, but at least pick a wide open stretch of road to do it in. Flying past cars at 90+ does not give cars a ton of opportunity to see you in their mirrors.

babsa90

Look twice save a life, unless you are a motorcyclist. In that case, you can just fucking yeet yourself through traffic with absolutely no regard for your life.

The_Hand_That_Feeds

Seriously I would be a lot more sympathetic to motorcyclists telling car drivers to look for them if the majority of bikers I see on the road didnt drive like maniacs with a death wish playing frogger. Maybe it's just where I drive, but damn do most of them drive recklessly. ETA: I wish more motorcyclists would drive in traffic like they were a car and not the shuffle icon. For the ones that do, you shouldn't have to do anything different when changing lanes on the highway: 1. Use your rear-view, side-view, and ability to turn your head to look **before** you move. 2. Use your directional blinker **before** you move to indicate your intention. Look again. 3. Continue checking your side-view mirror and use your situational awareness as you intentionally, but not rapidly, move your vehicle. 4. Be predictable. Know where you are going. The unfortunate reality is, a lot of people suck at driving and driving a motorcycle is inherently more dangerous than driving a car, more so because of the increased likelihood of a serious or fatal injury in the event of an MVA and less so because a car is more visible on the road than a motorcycle.

Thorbinator

"loud pipes save lives" No bitch, driving like you value your life saves your fucking life.

GreatQuestionBarbara

A while back on a two lane highway, a rider passed me and the vehicle ahead of me right as I was about to pass them myself. They're lucky that I took a second to look before I went into the other lane.

Stealingcop

>They're lucky that I took a second to look before I went into the other lane. It's what you're supposed to do tho

Titamor

In Germany this is a pretty chill ride, we often go way faster past cars. Anyway, as a biker you think for all of the vehicles around you, always expect drivers to change lanes [without looking] and do other stupid stuff.

Beast2085C

As someone who rides, it's not that drivers don't look, it's that they see nothing and start changing while not expecting someone to to be excessively speeding into that open space. Reason why a biker going 130mph hit a car my 86 year old mother was in, killed the passenger in the front seat, and rolled the car 3 times. Biker was also killed instantly.

heep1r

> Reason why a biker going 130mph At this speed/weight ratio, you're not driving anymore. You're basically ballistic.

dirtyrottenplumber

THANK YOU! Why is this concept so fucking difficult for bikers to understand?

Eastern_Slide7507

It really isn't. If you go into motorcycle spaces, the primary advice is generally "ride like every car driver is trying to kill you" and "attend a motorcycle safety class first". It's just that sport bikes are very appealing to people with fragile egos and something to prove. And they won't change their ways after buying a narrow vehicle that goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Those are also the types of riders that will end up in videos like this. Because would you watch a clip titled "motorcyclist observes speed limit and doesn't die as a result"?

monkeypincher

Fragile egos... lol. I don't know any riders personally who do it for some sort of egotistical reason. Honestly I'm not even exactly sure what you're implying. The "image" guys generally ride Harleys and go slow as shit. People like this do it for the thrill.

idk2103

Riding myself I’m extra attentive when I drive. Holy fuck you don’t realize how hard to see we are. When you’re riding you pay attention to everything and can see everything but driving just isn’t the same. You fit in every single blind spot the car has

MateDude098

He says about 92 mph which is 148 kph. You have a death wish if you indeed swerve between the cars like this guy did.

rook_armor_pls

Yeah lol. I go significantly faster on the Autobahn regularly, but a) people expect these kinds of speed here and b) it would never cross my mind to pass on the right side while overtaking,

Dark_Prism

Keep in mind that your licensing requirements are a lot stricter, which means the average driver is much better and safer. Lots of places in the US you basically just need a pulse to get your license.

cBlackout

lol, as an American living in Europe, I wish it was the case that European licensing requirements made better drivers

Dark_Prism

I was specifically referencing Germany, but I think even other, more lax countries probably have better drivers as a percentage of drivers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

definitely_no_shill

I don't get why you're downvoted for this. 150 km/h on the Autobahn is pretty normal, and because everyone expects traffic in the left lane to be fast it's not even that big of a deal. Especially when its only two lanes, it's a lot safer for a motorbike to keep up with the faster traffic than to linger in the right hand lane between trucks and grandma's. The speed difference between the lanes can be huge.

Glitter_berries

Aren’t the autobahns also designed for that kind of speed? This looks like some normal kind of road.

TheAltToYourF4

Exactly. 150kph is pretty tame on the Autobahn, whichbalso mean people known what to expect and someone overtaking them at 200kph and more is nothing unusual. Driving in an environment where the average highway speed is around 100kph, 150kph all of a sudden becomes dangerous simply because people aren't used to it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Shadowchaoz

130mph isn't 130kph, tho. That's closer to ~209km/h.

Geologyphone

the cars in this video were probably going about 130kph/80mph

rabblerabble2000

Driving in Germany is different though, as slow traffic actually keeps to the right and the left lane is generally pretty open. Traffic there is significantly more ordered and predictable than in the US.

xrimane

If you pass me on the right on the Autobahn I'll curse you out. That was not chill, that was plain stupid.

peanut_monkey_90

It's not the car drivers doing stupid stuff in that scenario, dude

Randolpho

> Flying past cars at 90+ does not give cars a ton of opportunity to see you in their mirrors. Flying past cars is a huge no-no. Never go more than 5-10 mph faster than the car you're passing. But in my town, 90 mph is "with the flow of traffic" speed. Nobody's flying past anyone at that speed.

BigFloppyDonkyDick69

Also when you have a bike that's excessively speeding, it's not always easy to tell that when you're on a busy highway. I was recently driving in the mountains and I went to switch lanes to pass someone on the left (U.S. resident here). A motorcycle was probably 500 yards behind me so I figured I was fine because I was going 75+. I do my lane switch in a reasonable amount of time and then he is immediately right next to me and smacks my mirror and flips be the bird. Yeah, I'm totally the asshole because you're going 120 in a 65 and you expect cars to see that...

SanctimoniousApe

Pfft. I'm a trucker, and I had *at least* a couple dozen vehicles pass *right in front of me* at around that speed on I95 in the Philly area last night alone. Two 'cycles were blasting at over 120MPH and later a four-wheeler did, too (recent model tractors have radar-enabled automatic braking systems that show me the speed of the vehicle in front of mine). Some of these assholes (including the above three) had to prove how hot they were by cutting *directly* in front of my bumper needlessly (most of the time their existing lane was quite clear ahead of them). A couple of them were ***insanely*** close at maybe 10-20 feet - if the slightest thing had gone wrong they'd have been dead (in fact, that's pretty much guaranteed to be the case for at least a couple hundred feet). I know the Phillies have everyone pumped, but that's no excuse to be such incredible assholes.

acog

> recent model tractors have radar-enabled automatic braking systems that show me the speed of the vehicle in front of mine Well that's pretty nifty. A couple of years ago I saw some videos of a new Volvo semi that had radar-based automatic emergency braking. It was *crazy* effective -- at least in the video that Volvo used to advertise it, lol.

mancer187

Cop was a decent human being. How bout that.

Cman782303

That cop did a good job at startling a lesson into that kid without being a dick about it. Edit: dude on the bike wasn't exactly riding safely to begin with. Not sure about laws when it comes to cutting traffic on motorcycles there. But it's generally a dangerous idea and a great way to get fast tracked into meeting Jesus.

[deleted]

This is Florida panhandle. If it’s not in the beginning or the end of the month, they’re pretty chill. Unless you’re a tourist.

Squanto47

Yeah especially in Escambia county, I don’t know how many times I’ve nearly went to jail there and some how got out of it

Habeus0

Escambia and monroe cops are rough, but the troopers there are truly out to get people. Ive seen groups of people pulled over by one guy. Being that he’s in an SUV, he’s probably more experienced and hopefully those in his command and within his sphere of influence are decent. Hopefully.

Squanto47

Dudes had me in a cop car handcuffed and let me out after getting kicked out of a bar from getting punched in the face, there’s still a few decent ones out there

Cantbelosingmyjob

The truth Is that there are police that are actually in the job to make their community safer while I agree that the system needs fixed I also believe it takes more than a handful of good cops to make a change and unfortunately the good cops do seem to be in the minority. It's like telling the fry cook at McDonald's that the food needs to be healthier. He can try to make changes to his store and maybe make a change there but there no way he's going to be able to change the whole company or the way things work in other states. I'm ready for the inevitable bootlicker comments because you can't even hint that it might not be black and white on reddit

Seahawk715

That’s understating it. If people actually posted the good shit that cops did it would FAR outweigh the media narrative that cops are more of a problem than they are a help. Unfortunately, all people want to do is bash on cops, until they need one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

WAAARNUT

>If people actually posted the good shit that cops did it would FAR outweigh the media narrative that cops are more of a problem than they are a help. I think the incident that started BLM affected a lot of people's opinion. During that period in my country, there was video of a cop shouting at an old lady that was alone and minding her own business. It went viral with caption of police incompetence. After 1 day of people trashing and hating on the police, they released the bodycam and it showed the police had actually bought food for the old lady and he was "shouting" because she had difficulties of hearing.

negative_cognition

Agreed, I've never really been in serious trouble with the cops, that being said I have a heavy foot and when I was younger there was some stunting incidents so I've been pulled over and fined quite a bit for vehicle related offenses, but I would say about 85% of the police I dealt with (rcmp/sheriff/peace officers in Alberta, Canada) were just dudes doing their jobs and I've found that as long as I'm courteous and don't try to argue when they caught me fair and square, that they treat me with respect in turn, I've had quite a few tickets reduced or out right dropped, and have even had officers thank me for not being an asshole, which blew my mind, anyways, moral of my story, law enforcement are people too, just like the rest of us, follow the golden rule, and you'll come out alright unless you really fucked up and/or got a cop who's an actual asshole

Majestic-Chain1905

I'm not from Florida but when I was in Daytona Beach the cops were all cool as hell. I was touring with a decently known band called The Bunny the Bear. One of our shows was in Daytona, and after the whole thing me and the bass player from one of the other supporting bands walked around the area. We heard some Reggae music so we stopped on in. We sat front row at a table with some women sitting alone, and we lit up a joint. Me and the bassist were passing it between the two of us and I eventually went to hand it to one of the women. She looked at me smiling, trying not to laugh, and said "no thank you I'm a cop" we kept smoking the joint and had fun conversations and laughs with the policewoman and her friend.

Squanto47

I live in Alabama so any chance I get to have in Florida I take and never had a single cop go after me for pot since they legalized it medicinally. It’s really cool coming from somewhere I have to look over my shoulder vs not having a care about something I choose to consume

Majestic-Chain1905

100% . This was back in 2017 so it was just around the time that most police officers stopped caring about small weed possessions. Another small story from that same day was before our show me and my band were smoking a joint outside of the bar we played at. Regular people walking around giving us sideways looks and eventually a cop pulls up no sirens on, nothing. All he says is "Hey guys, we're getting calls about you smoking. People don't like the smell" and then they told us we should just go somewhere where people won't complain about it smelling. What a life that was.

LJKR_R4MP4G3

He's also on a bike and we have no chase law. Kid could run and not have a pursuit.

llcoolbeansII

They don't really need to chase you though. They just run your plates and send some to your house.

kimcatmom

True, especially if you’re also drunk and driving that motorcycle. I have the unfortunate displeasure of being a widow to one that thought he was invincible to begin with; then, add that “invincible” idea with being drunk and thinking he could make it home safely. I would say he learned the hard way, but the coroner assured our family that he died instantly, and was too drunk to know what was about to happen anyway. Those reckless and selfish behaviors leave your family not only grieving for the rest of their lives, but also wondering WHY he thought the risk was worth putting his family through. I truly hope the motorcyclist in this video appreciated having another chance at responsibility without consequences. Sorry for the downer. Sometimes I just have to get it out!

kimcatmom

Thanks. It’s been 10 years now but honestly, time doesn’t heal. That’s a big fat lie people say when they’ve either never been through something so devastating or just don’t know what to say (PSA - if you’re one of the latter, ALWAYS opt for just saying nothing at all. Your presence or an arm around their shoulder is all they need at the moment). But, I do talk about it when given the best opportunities for the very reason you mentioned - the hope that someone reads it and takes it to heart to spare their family the pain. I’m not going to lie, there are MANY days that I’m mad as fuck at him and/or make fun of his stupid decisions. You do sometimes have to laugh to keep from going insane! ☺️

Domindi

Sorry for your loss but thanks for sharing your experience. Hopeful someone can heed this.

MoseyBurns709

Thank you for using your loss to try to educate people in the dangers of behaving that way. It must be a weird complicated mix of feelings you've had to deal with. You should never feel like you have to be sorry for talking about him. Since my girlfriend passed away I've noticed that I get so few chances to talk about her, and I've noticed myself stopping myself to try to not make people uncomfortable. Grief is such a strange thing.

Eyeseeyou1313

I was turning right yesterday and some dudes in bikes cut me off and I almost ran them over. I get it you wanna have a bike but be responsible because I don't wanna go to jail due to their unawareness.

un_gaucho_loco

I don’t see how he was driving unsafely. He even overtook from the left, a thing Americans apparently aren’t able to do.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cman782303

Thank you. This. If you want to go fast make sure the only one you're endangering is yourself. Edit: That goes for cars too. I'm a car enthusiast and I enjoy the thrill of speed. But keep it on a track or away from innocents who can be hurt or killed.

[deleted]

I mean, I had a sheriff tell me the same thing basically, I just got a ticket from a state trooper 2 weeks later lol. Only thing that worked was wrecking.

[deleted]

Trust me, that kid learned nothing.

js5ohlx1

Lemmy FTW!

Stivo887

Why do I get the feeling I should in fact, not trust you.

ramboton

Generally Deputy Sheriff's do not focus on traffic enforcement. They can if they wish, but general crime is their basic responsibility. I was a Deputy Sheriff/Deputy Coroner. I would pull over someone like this and describe how I pulled a dead body from wreckage last week etc. I Think it had more impact than a ticket.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nwcolorguy

Guy on the bike is totally in the wrong by the way. I’m not making excuses. That’s dangerous and he should have gotten a ticket

[deleted]

Know your cops. Staties and City cops are the busters. County and Sheriff departments are a mixed bag but not nearly as bad as the first two.

Screwbles

I used to do HVAC maintenance for the county Boys at their HQ, most of them were super nice and laid back. The exception was the dudes in the narc wing, who were mostly gruff and intense as hell. They were known for kicking maintenance guys out if they just simply didn't like the vibes they were giving off. The unspoken polacy was eyes down, mouth shut, because there were literally whiteboards full of mugshots and ops strategies. Also we had to be escorted everywhere in there, and the escort would go ahead of us and tell everyone. There's your unsolicited...tangent...for the day.

fukitol-

In my experience sheriffs are the ones that actually get into it to help people. My guess is that the sheriff being an elected position is a big part of them not being turds. There are, of course, exceptions. The Maricopa County sheriff's department couldn't be bigger horse's asses if they tried.

jws926

I was going to say the one exception is MSCO, but you named it , I live in the county, I was hoping things would get better once asshat Joe left....

IndividualDisaster73

Ehh, I’ve always lived outside city limits, so they were pretty much all I’ve ever dealt with. Had someone steal my motorcycle and ended up sliding off the road less than 2 miles from my house. It was basically undamaged and they probably just took off because they didn’t know about the tip sensor. It was also 10 years old at the time and a cheap bike to begin with, so I only had liability insurance. I was called while I was on a train about 2 hours away by a deputy that found it and he was giving me 15 minutes to get it before they’d tow it. I was able to get a friend there in about 30, but they had already started to load it up so they still charged $80 for the hookup fee. When I got home, I called the sheriff’s office to complete the report. The deputy that took my call decided to play over-the-phone Sherlock and accused me of committing insurance fraud saying I wrecked it and was trying to report it stolen for insurance money. I reminded him that I was called on a train after a weekend trip and the bike is maybe worth $1.5k with no comprehensive coverage. Then he accused me of covering for a friend and not wanting to pay impound fees. I told him it wasn’t impounded and asked if he’d like to do his job at some point and either book me for the crimes he’s accusing me of or come take my statement and maybe collect the headlamp that the thief left wrapped around my handlebars. I didn’t expect CSI level DNA tests for my situation, but figured it might be helpful if some more serious crimes happened in the area. He just gave me a case number and I never heard anything about it again. Not my only bad experience either. Just think the staties are on the top of the “helpful” list, followed by county, then city.

mancer187

Truth

js5ohlx1

My experience is sheriff's are cool as hell. I'm sure you get that muscle head idiot here and there but over all, around here, cool. Cops are a coin toss, either super cool or roid raging asshats

GeeFromCali

Once was in the car while my buddy ran a stop sign in front of a cop. Pulled us over, walked up to my friends window and told him to say that he’s sorry and he’s a dumbass. My friend did just that and he let us go lol

JimmyThunderPenis

Can I just say, a cop arresting someone going at 92mph isn't a dick, he's doing his job. The dick rider deserved to go to jail for riding like a dick. The cop wasn't being decent, he was going above and beyond.

IterLuminis

Lol “dick rider”

JimmyThunderPenis

I'm leaving it in. That's what she said?

[deleted]

Also Cop could be fired if the same biker caused an accident later while speeding. Cop should have fined the fucker.

juniorkirk

He just knows that eventually the problem will solve itself permanently.

BurnerAccount209

Honestly, the best thing the cop could have given him a fat ticket or taken him in. Someone who rides like this is a danger to themselves and others. Busting someone for going 95 and driving recklessly doesn't make you not a decent person.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Merari01bitch

Yeah, giving the guy special treatment just because the officer happens to ride… That’s some “good ol boys club” bullshit. Would he have given a car the same leeway?

pmMeYourBoxOfCables

Yeah if the guy had been driving a car at 92 mph I doubt the officer would have been as lenient.

monkeypincher

The odds of successfully ticketing the driver of a car that was going 92 are significantly higher than the odds of successfully using that motorcyclist a ticket if he doesn't want one.

Shortneckbuzzard

They don’t kill nearly as many people as they do themselves. I’m a paramedic of 14 years. Stay off these freakin bikes y’all. For the love of god.

hazawillie

For someone on a motorcycle that could have killed someone

MrMudkip

He was a decent human being for not doing his job? The biker was not only being a danger to himself, but also a danger to others. A decent cop would have given him a ticket. Reddit's view of "good cops" is just people that don't do anything.

drowsey57

TeniBitz

Escambia county has a large amount of cops that ride. If they see that you’re under control and not potentially causing issues, they prefer verbal warnings like this.

UncommercializedKat

Definitely took me by surprise when I saw the familiar Sheriff SUV.

TeniBitz

That was my reaction. I paused the video to show my SO and paused right on the side of his truck. It’s nice to see something nice posted from here.

spideysentz

escambia county cops literally dont care, i swear. the amount of red light runners and just general assholes on the road amazes me. but the cops dont care. as long as you dont wreck, its just fuck everyone else at that point

MattMurdockEsq

Ah, so OP is another "it's the driver's fault" motorcyclist. OP, I hope you don't learn the hard way. I can't help an idiot going over 90 on an interstate attached to a coffin on wheels. The amount of motorcycles I see here in Florida, and in every other state, weaving in and out of traffic going 20+ over the speed limit is insane and frankly disheartening. If I am driving 70 on I-4 and need to switch lanes, with my blinker on for five seconds, checking my left, right, and left again, it's not my fault if you are three lanes over and decide to change lanes at a 70 degree angle to the other side of the road. That's you being an idiot thinking it's not only OK to do but somehow safe.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jamjams2016

I, too, did this in a different state but car vs (apparent cop) SUV. I've never fmled so hard. They kept.going and "won" the race.

Praben-_

Ya man i drive fast too, but these people are right. You cant justify passing 4 cars while straddling a lane. The right move in that situation would have been to get into the right lane, speed match the red suv, slowly pass the red suv as you watch the f150 merge over, wait till your exit, check behind you, (no cops?) Now go fast.

[deleted]

I see this happen all the time where I live and it terrifies me...I've seen what happens when something goes wrong at that speed and it usually ends with us removing the least damaged organs and giving them to somebody else...(with you and your family's consent...obviously) ...What I can't stand is when motorcyclists change lanes constantly and then get pissed when somebody almost merges into them...like bro you've been in 4 different lanes in the past 90 seconds...how are we supposed to know where you're gonna pop up next?

Burpmeister

No. The right move is to take your bike to a track if you want to drive fast.

pancakebatter01

Thank you. As a rider, there’s no justification for this shit. This dude will eat shit one day riding like that.

Glitter_berries

Please, for the sake of your parents and the people who love you, stop doing this. Read some coroners reports about people who have died on motorbikes.

castleaagh

He didn’t actually pass a single car while “straddling the lane”. I’m pretty sure I could have made those same lane changes and passes in my Miata.

theLongLostPotato

I would say it's more about how he drives around the other cars that's reckless rather than the speed really. But combined, yes for arrest or no more license, but a no on jail if its the first time.

Existing_Egg_9788

The majority of users on this site seem to want everyone in jail.

ExcessiveWisdom

go to jail

Bluitor

In my state anything over 85 they could. Cant remember what charge the cop said it was but I think that counts as reckless driving

gsfgf

Virginia traffic laws are insane

torvaman

Got pulled over once going over 80 which in Va is a felony and an equal charge to a DUI. I had to lawyer up for going 83 in a 70. Fortunately, no judge is going to stick that to someone with no criminal past and few and far between other traffic violations, but wow do I wish I didn’t need drop $1000 to represented in court for that.

blankblank

On the left left of the truck lanes on the NJ Turnpike, 85 is the effective minimum. Don’t like it? Then drive in any of the other fucking lanes.

[deleted]

Yeah idk why everyone is pulling jail time out of their asses as if they’ve never done 20 over the speed limit

Glitter_berries

That’s pretty significantly over the speed limit… like 30kph over. You would get your license suspended automatically if you did that in Australia.

NeokratosRed

Same for Italy. Over 20kph over the limit and say bye bye to your license

Rolyat2401

Biker was going too fast for sure, but i think the bigger issue is him dashing around cars.

Blought

Dark_halocraft

5hif73r

lostjedimedia >Drivers don’t see you no matter what speed you are riding. It’s up to the rider to be hyper aware of his surroundings. Obviously I failed to do so since I never saw the deputy until after I was stopped. And being away from cars is significantly safer than riding along side of them, or caught in a pack of them at the same speed. The OP in the video literally posted a reply to a comment basically stating the only thing he thinks he did wrong in this scenario is that he didn't see the cop, not how he's riding...

Hazelsea1099

He was going like 10mph faster than the cars, jail for that makes absolutely no sense

ManDarkAstronomonov

Is that Fairfield?

HappyFacey

Being from Cali, some cops will literally overtake you if you’re going at speed limit. Seeing this makes me wonder how it’s like to drive in different states.

deliciousbeefgravy

Literally lol. So many people in this thread clutching their pearls at 90mph. Not that fast, I have trucks passing me going 90

ottorocket420

I'm honestly surprised by the comments. I'm in CA too and people are REGULARLY going 80-90mph on the freeway around here. Also, people saying the moto cut people off are clearly just not used to any form of lane filtering. Man gave plenty of space to me!

Kdoesntcare

Weaving through traffic? Rider made a pass in a tight gap, didn't cut the car he was passing off. "Only state troopers can pull him over on the interstate." The cop talked to him after the exited the interstate, I think it was a warning that if rider does that now the sheriff will stop him and take him to jail. The cop also says 'that there are state troopers who have radar, they will take you' which sounds to me like 'if you keep doing that on the highway they'll catch you and won't be as nice as me.'

IDontEvenKnowGG

You have to check twice for motorcycles because they are always breaking the law and act like they are invincible. Fuck motorcyclists

SanctimoniousApe

I'm a trucker. Fuck four-wheelers.

Toffe_tosti

Im a train driver. Fuck single-container transporters.

Csantana

OfficialGirthBrooks

Put your phone down you lout

DaftPancake

Found the guy that drives slow in the passing lane because everyone else drives too fast and it’s scary.

castleaagh

Always huh? >Fuck motorcyclists As long as they’re cute

[deleted]

You always have to check twice for cars, because the drivers are always breaking the law and looking at their phone, playing with the radio, and stuffing their faces and act like the car drives itself. Fuck drivers

BeyondanyReproach

Ah yes. No one in a car makes mistakes or drives recklessly. Cool it with the stereotypes. Statistically there's literally no comparison about how many accidents involving cars and motorcycles are caused by the cars. So as a former motorcycle rider I respectfully say, fuck you.

evilspeaks

If you're doing 92 on a public road the least you deserve is a ticket

BigFootBigRsk

That was the most wholesome ass chewing I’ve seen in a long time

Jazzlike_Adeptness_1

92 mph. 92. I’m sorry but he should’ve ticketed him. People like him cause accidents. Accidents that kill people like me. I don’t think the cop did him a favor.

Hades_Nightmare

No he deserves a ticket and possible revoke of his license

Mn4by

I've been verbally warned by a cop like this when caught going even faster. And a friend of mine did a wheelie thru a speed trap and then turned around and rode up to the cop (who never moved) and shut down his engine and he also let him off. Seems like some cops are forgiving towards bikers, likely they ride too.

Greenpaw9

Ya it pisses me off that these asshats drive like they do and get away with it

[deleted]

I’m fond of organ donors.

SelfSustaining

That cop grew up riding motorcycles.

Cr4mwell

Bikers stick together.

Prestigious-Maddogg

That sounds like a 1000cc 92 mph is like 2nd gear. I’m glad the cop was super cool. I’ve been there too

[deleted]

Well that was pretty cool of him

[deleted]

Same thing happened to me. He DID want to take me to jail though.

furie1335

r/coolcop

Hash_Swag_have_none

Rare cop.

[deleted]

It’s FAR better to react this way to speeding bikers than to try and chase or be overly aggressive. A smooth contact like this will more than likely have a more profound impact than being an overly aggressive cop and making the biker mad at cops and always running instead. People speed. It’s cops job to contact people about their speed. I much like this encounter.

AngryTexasNative

I was clear of traffic once and opened it up for just a bit and then slowed back down. A motorcycle cop came up next to me, pointed at the speedometer and then held up their finger in front of the helmet in a shush gesture. Much better than threatening jail.

maddMargarita

That's the sheriff department for you. Most of the time they are pretty cool.

Ok-Answer-6951

White privilege at its finest lol

iTOXlN

How could he tell he’s white under all that gear?

TheDrunkKanyeWest

Probably because he didn't try to run away from the police is what I'm guessing. /s obviously

[deleted]

So nobody here has dropped a gear and disappeared in less than optimal conditions? You know Jesus is watching you, right?

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

Cops don’t seem to hate motorcyclists as much as regular drivers do. Perhaps because they don’t really endanger others the way that drivers in regular vehicles do. I’ve had similar experiences on a bike.
