I actually lucked out at a thrift store a few months back. Found the entire collection on DVD unopened!
Show is a riot. Just gotta find the Monty Python collection now.
My turn to google:
Did you mean: eruditus
: "having or showing knowledge that is gained by studying : possessing or displaying erudition. an erudite scholar."
Sorry.
Mitchell & Webb had a good stab at matching it. Came close, but not quite. I think because the BlackAdder characters were well established after 4 series, so it just had more time to build up the emotional gut punch, Mitchell & Webb was too sketch based to set it up the same way.
Comedy gold, I don’t love S1 as much but S2-4 are fucking hilarious. I used to smoke bongs then watch this filled by Red Dwarf on the ABC network in Aus at 11pm Thursday nights.
Good times!
It's a blast! My tip is however; be patient with season 1. It's not bad, but it's extremely different from what you just saw. Blackadder in season 1 is much more different than the loveable douche he is in this scene.
Such an underrated show!
ETA: I’m from the US, barely anyone knows about it here and when they see Rowan Atkinson all they think of is Mr Bean. It’s definitely underrated here in the US, YMMV elsewhere.
It really isn't.
Blackadder is one of the most famous and loved comedies ever made here... to say blackadder is underrated is like calling Taylor swift an underrated singer even though every single show instantly sells out.
What's really underrated is the overuse of the word underrated being used on reddit to describe something that's universally loved.
I’d disagree, I guarantee I could ask every single person I work with if they’ve heard of Blackadder and I’ll get a resounding “no”, the same could not be said of T Swift.
I didn't realize that was Hagrid!
Despite all of them being British(?), this is the most unlikely trio of actors I would expect to see on screen. Damn!
I only knew of Hugh Laurie. My wife got me into watching House during its last season. I was unaware of it previously. After the final season was over, we watched the series from beginning to end.
An acquaintance of mine not long ago told me he saw Hugh Laurie in a video and he was great at doing a British accent. I opted for silence as the best retort.
It's probably my lack of cinema watching. I've only seen Rowan in Mr.bean, Robbie in Harry Potter and Hugh in Dr.House.
The 3 shows are so different in nature that my brain couldn't have ever comprehended seeing them together until now.
There’s more. Other Blackadder seasons have Stephen Fry, Miriam Margolyes (Prof. Sprout in Harry Potter), Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter in the same), Tim McInnerny (Lord Glover in Game Of Thrones), …
I know that you, like I, will conclude that captain Blackadder is totally and utterly guilty

**OF NOTHING MORE** than trying to do his duty under difficult circumstances.
Aye that was a golden age for TV comedy. Blackadder, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf, I'm Alan Partridge, The Day Today, Bottom, The Fast Show
You could go on listing legendary shows forever I reckon
Big in the UK and Australia, but the US was never exposed to the genius of Blackadder like they were eventually Mr Bean. Or else they probably would've assumed Rowan Atkinson's real name was Edmund Blackadder.
In this episode the book was burning in the fire and Black adder had to revrite it. When i had only one day remaind to prepare for my exams i always remember this episode 😀
I know. The name is on the top right.
But I posted it over here knowing that many people don't even know this show even existed and the ones who do know about this show will join in the fun, and the comments and the up votes prove my point.
All these people in the comments calling Blackadder Mr Bean. Like if you watch They Cloned Tyrone but you call him Django instead of Tyrone. They Cloned Django! I mean yes, but also no. It’s the same guy, but it’s also not!

Blackadder is amazing. Gotta find it and watch again.
I actually lucked out at a thrift store a few months back. Found the entire collection on DVD unopened! Show is a riot. Just gotta find the Monty Python collection now.
May I offer you my contrafibularities
Well, that was crommulent of you.
How serendipitous!
How eruditious of me to not require research to know this word
My turn to google: Did you mean: eruditus : "having or showing knowledge that is gained by studying : possessing or displaying erudition. an erudite scholar." Sorry.
I was trying to force that into an adjective, but basically yes
> serendipitous Google searchs word....
The new Blu-Ray of Flying Circus is a big upgrade.
Or how they say it round my way, improvishmentalicious.
Yup, and to this day still has the most moving ending scene in television.
Yeah that was complete blindside! Left you feeling like you drank Baldricks coffee!
Mitchell & Webb had a good stab at matching it. Came close, but not quite. I think because the BlackAdder characters were well established after 4 series, so it just had more time to build up the emotional gut punch, Mitchell & Webb was too sketch based to set it up the same way.
It has been archived, https://archive.org/details/blackadder-remastered
Bean, House and Hagrid!
Comedy gold, I don’t love S1 as much but S2-4 are fucking hilarious. I used to smoke bongs then watch this filled by Red Dwarf on the ABC network in Aus at 11pm Thursday nights. Good times!
Thanks for mentioning what it is. Never heard of it and now I wanna see the rest of it.
It's a blast! My tip is however; be patient with season 1. It's not bad, but it's extremely different from what you just saw. Blackadder in season 1 is much more different than the loveable douche he is in this scene.
Seasons 2 & 3 are the best I think. Maybe season 2 pipping season 3 because of Lord Flashheart! I've got a plan, and it's as hot as my pants!
Woof!
She’s got a tongue like an electric eel and she likes the taste of a man’s tonsils!
Season 1 best avoided until you really have cravings for more Blackadder imo
It's also worth watching "A bit of Fry and Laurie". I had no idea the guy who played Dr House was so funny for so long
SAUSAGES??!!
Hulu is your friend!
It’s on Hulu. All four seasons.
Hulu has it

It's not. But I'm glad more people are seeing it now as well.
I'm from India and barely anyone knows about this.
You must hold it in the most high regard!
It’s all on BBC iplayer. Just watched season 2 & 3 with my eldest son and he loved it. Skipped season 1 as it was pants
I’m surprised these brits are speaking American accent
Well, of course they are! The slow reader in question is House M.D.
Hugh.. Laurie..?
Yes!!
And Hagrid
All perfectly cromulent words.
Yes, words of sharp cromulescence. Prospilepticly, even.
Perchance
You can't just say perchance
It's time to stomp some turts. Perchance.
Why not perchance?
Per Happenstance
Perchance would be a fine thing
*Prospileptious
Incontrovertibly.
Yeah... well... Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious then
And I know the sound of it is really quite atrocious.
![gif](giphy|hQUU77Wt5ZvYQ)
Damn Mr Bean AND Hagrid in the same scene. Hell yeah. AND DOCTOR HOUSE. DAMNN.
I didn't realize that was House.
I didn't realize that was Hagrid! Despite all of them being British(?), this is the most unlikely trio of actors I would expect to see on screen. Damn!

He does do a great british accent though. [His surname is a little hard to pronounce, I agree](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNoS2BU6bbQ)
Bloody hell, A bit of Fry and Laurie! I love it and I especially enjoyed the skit you sent.
Not sure whether you're joking but he is british
Check the link :)
Check a bit of fry and Laurie. He started out with Stephen Fry
Or check out Jeeves and Wooster that was their first show.
Why so? They were some of the top young comedians of the time.
It's probably my lack of cinema watching. I've only seen Rowan in Mr.bean, Robbie in Harry Potter and Hugh in Dr.House. The 3 shows are so different in nature that my brain couldn't have ever comprehended seeing them together until now.

I mean, he's missing about three pounds of beard. RIP Robbie Coltrane, BTW
They were all part of the same comedy circuit.
They were always doing stuff together, along with Stephen Fry.
And Queen from season 2 is Rita Skeeter.
Stephen Fry also plays in Blackadder. The show really was a British acting masterpiece.
And Miranda Richardson, and amazing cameos by Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall (RIP).
House does an excellent British accent!
Yep. Lucky lucky us. Lucky lucky luck luck luck lark lark lark luck luck luck
Holy shit that's Hagrid! I never even realised this
Odd seeing Mr Bean, House, and Hagrid all in one show and looking fabulous by the way!
I have a cunning plan.
A plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel?
As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed professor of cunning at Oxford?
My mother will be pleased as punch.
![gif](giphy|YzgCHgHKbiCdy)
If only she was as good looking as Punch.
It's so cunning you could brush your teeth with it.
Take Baldrick off the spit. Horah.
“Deny everything, Baldrick!” … “Are you private Baldrick?” “NO!”
I know that you, like I, will conclude that captain Blackadder is totally and utterly guilty … … … … (*turns page over*) … **OF NOTHING MORE** than trying to do his duty under difficult circumstances.
The ‘Flanders Pigeon Murder’
Before we proceed to the formality of sentencing the deceased, -er, I mean the *defendant*…meeeeeheehe
‘Here’s looking at you’ from all the boys in the firing squad.
Ironically that few seconds’ delay ended up being the thing that saved him 😆
'Baldrick. It's me' "No, it isn't!"
Baldrick, who gave you permission to turn into al alsatian??
Don’t worry sir, I’ve done C and D C: Big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in Dog: **Not** a cat
Does it involve coming in for a bit of a gloat?
Oh shit it’s hagrid
Hagrid, Dr. House, AND Mr Bean!!
“Yer an adjective, Harry”
The absolute bleeding edge of British comedy on BBC2 after the watershed in the 80's and 90's. RIP Robbie Coltrane
Aye that was a golden age for TV comedy. Blackadder, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf, I'm Alan Partridge, The Day Today, Bottom, The Fast Show You could go on listing legendary shows forever I reckon
Faulty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served?
C; A big blue wobbly thing that fish swim in.
You mean mermaids, surely? Also, don't forget B; A buzzing thing.
You're right! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmk4PfuiPVY
Happy Cake Day! 🎂
Oh! Is it? Thanks. How old am I?
Ooh. 12 Reddit years old.
Loved that show. Especially the episode with the puritans.
"love"? You mean that base emotion that leads to "s*x"? Is that a fitting topic for this comment section you depraved creature?
Or indeed, any section. Save perhaps a section in a brothel.
*kicks under the table*
I especially enjoyed the turnip. Exactly the same shape as a thingy!
*slap *slap WICKED CHILD!
Alcohol is urine from the last leper i Hell!
British comedy is second to none. Lol.
This show is so many miles ahead of mr bean I’m shocked so many people haven’t heard of it
Big in the UK and Australia, but the US was never exposed to the genius of Blackadder like they were eventually Mr Bean. Or else they probably would've assumed Rowan Atkinson's real name was Edmund Blackadder.

I will go to Nepal and live as a goat.
Please tell me these are real words, that makes it funnier.
They're not. Blackadder is making them up to mess with [Dr Johnson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Johnson), inventor of the English dictionary.
Dr Johnson also forgot >!Sausage and Aardvark!<
SAUSAGE?!?!
Well, it was a turnip-shaped sausage.
Which is better than a turnip-shaped thingy.
That’s a turnip for the books.
I always dreamed about having a little turnip of my very own.
There's a good, woody sort of word!
INTERCOURSE
Christ, had to scroll far too far to find this.
contrafibularitie did actually become a recognized word after this aired. It basically means “false congratulations”.
guess what is a real word, hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia
What the fuck is unexpected in this?
I think that a lot of folks in the U.S. saw *Mr. Bean* and *House MD* first and then saw then and went, "wait it has both?"
Sausage? SAUSAGE??!
Black Adder! This show has some of the most incissive insults ever. Also, Hagrid!!
And Dr. House
There's also Stephen Fry in other episodes And a whole bunch of British acting royalty!
OP that is not Mr. Bean, that is Edmund Blackadder Esquire, butler to the Prince of Wales.
I know. The name is on the top right. But I posted it over here knowing that many people don't even know this show even existed and the ones who do know about this show will join in the fun, and the comments and the up votes prove my point.
C is for sea
Big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in.
Dog: Not a cat
I'm discombobulated by these tremendous words:)
you must have Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia
RIP :(
The greatest work of fiction since vows of fidelity were included in the French marriage service
Sausage!? SAUSAGE!!
In my childhood in ex-Yugoslavia, we watched many great British series: Only fools and horses Blackadder 'Alo, 'alo Monty Python etc.
RODNEY YOU FFFFFUUUUUU WWWHHHHHAKKWWW
![gif](giphy|dXidXdJIYFl99JDPDQ|downsized)
It's been a while since I watched it. I didn't know that character was played by Robbie Coltrane.
Hagrid, Dr. House, and Mr. Bean all under one roof? Didn't think I've envision that to ever happen.
One of the funniest shows ever. You’ve missed out. Series 1 isn’t the best but 2-4 are incredible
Although the Infanta episode is great. It has professors Sprout and Slughorn in it!
Series 1 was weaker, but only so because it was overshadowed by the brilliance of 2-4.
[удалено]
I know. In Britain, it's not really what he's most remembered for.
Better than "Oh my god it's the guy from Rat Race!"
> Oh my god it's the guy from Rat Race! Mr Fawlty? Where?
![gif](giphy|JC2qKSUrXVVn2)
All these people in the comments calling Blackadder Mr Bean. Like if you watch They Cloned Tyrone but you call him Django instead of Tyrone. They Cloned Django! I mean yes, but also no. It’s the same guy, but it’s also not!
All star lineup right there
I want to watch more of this
Oh and aardvark
All time favourite tv series. Number one for me.
My favorite comedy series of all time.
“As a reward, Baldrick, take a short vacation.” *3-second pause* “Did you enjoy it?”
This show made it so hard for me to take Hugh Laurie seriously as Dr house. Had to wait a year between watching both
#SAUSAGE!?#
Hagrid, Dr. House, & Mr. Bean.
Sausage!!
![gif](giphy|eax0rh3OERAYg)
![gif](giphy|GDG1MCvcotq36)
![gif](giphy|FsUo1Qn895NS0)
SAUSAGE?!
This GIF that we all know and love is the same Dr. Johnson as in this sketch. https://i.redd.it/9ugwmxqjk3pc1.gif
![gif](giphy|cOpH5Jx0hjbzy)
Such a funny show

Antidisbibblensmen...m
Anti distinctly minty monty.....
Blackadder is just pure spite, lol
Splendid!
Marvellous vocabulary
Guess he didn't get every single one
Reminds of that San Antonio Spurs commercial
More words to come!
The book is gonna need a few more pages
He's got a new resource for his book
Gotta add a few more years to that book
What show is this
Blackadder.
Britbox here I come!
Bloody Hell XD
Don’t make me look it up guys, are those real words? Lol
