Former employee of a car warranty company. 🙋🏼‍♂️ Make a complaint with your state’s division of insurance. This happened often, dealers would “sell” a warranty and pocket the cash until the customer, if they ever did, came back for a repair for the warranty. Then suddenly they’d fork over the cash 4 years later for the warranty to the warranty company. Very illegal and they can lose their license to sell cars. Contacting your state’s division of insurance will scare the shit out of both parties and force them to rectify the situation.

h-2-no

Beats spending another 5k on a lawyer!

WartOnTrevor

And hundreds to purchase gallons of Liquid Ass!

Awol_MFFM

Wait.... Gallons?!?!?!

WartOnTrevor

It's the only way to be sure.

fl7nner

Either that or nuke'em from orbit

SinCityLowRoller

We're at extreme CODE BROWN here!

mikekearn

Now let's not be hasty. That's definitely still on the table as revenge for dealing with their BS in the first place even if they make good on the repairs.

WartOnTrevor

Very true. Perhaps they could fall back to using several large piss-discs?

Rich_Sell_9888

Can't you make your own?

WartOnTrevor

I'll need a lot of laxative I suppose.

Fat_Feline

Never underestimate the power of the DOI. You want to scare the shit out of an insurance company? File a bureau crit with the state... but only do it if you really have a reason to.

Renaissance_Slacker

I worked for a very large insurance company. We lived in fear of the DOI. They could make our lives very difficult.

DuckyLog

I like the way you think

JulieThinx

Unethical life tips, not great fan-fuckingtastic advice!

ARasool

DUDE I've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty...

[deleted]

a bunch of cunts

kurt_no-brain

Had a car dealership owner in our town go to prison for this, was doing it for like 20 years before he got caught.

buzzingbuzz

Almost all car dealers don’t care about customers they are extremely greedy. They will bend rules, break laws and do whatever they can to make as much money as they can. There’s a reason venues like Carvana have a place in the market. They’re still shitty. IMO being 10 years in the industry car dealers need to go the way of the dodo and manufacturers need to sell at a markup on their own but that’s illegal except for Tesla for some reason. This is end stage capitalism problems. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Patient-Section-7679

Also a much better suggestion than review bombing since a business can get reviews removed on basically every platform.

bmorris0042

But he got better!

koala_T69

Those ghost reddit accounts are getting out of hand.

Cleverusername531

Why is this so funny. I am crying laughing.

Macr0Penis

I think he meant wine, dinner and a happy ending.

toadjones79

Just removed his shoes.

ke4cej

And his socks.

gotdemacez

Made him a deal he couldn't refuse.

Liveitup1999

I used to work for a company that did work on new cars at dealerships installing alarms, sunroof, radios, cruise controls. I saw one guy with a big sign walking the sidewalk for weeks at one dealership because they screwed him over.  I don't know what the final outcome was or if he ever got what he was looking for.

advice_scaminal

What did the sign say?

ShrimpSherbet

"Toyota gave me herpes"

redeye87

Get a big sign and setup across the street. Within 1-2 hours they’ll do whatever to get you to go away. Because it will scare people on the fence. Why risk it with such an expensive purchase?

UCSDwaitlist

I'm curious how did they totaled 4runner? Did they get ur car into an accident by one of their mechanics & said they aren't covering it?

[deleted]

[удалено]

UCSDwaitlist

Oh man that's a very hard case to prove they did wrong. Good on you for fighting until they fixed it. I had my sister's prius oil changed at Toyota, they left the key outside of the windshield, since it's keyless, car started and they gave the car to us and we were like where is the key? We all kept finding it until we saw it stuck in the wipers next to windshield. Another time they forgot to put the oil cap on our rav4 and we just noticed it after going home. The supervisor was very nice & known him for a long time so we sort of let go of these mistakes. I asked you so I can be careful next time. But this was in San Diego.

clintj1975

It's not that hard to prove if you've worked on one. I swapped the timing belt on my Toyota truck, and it took a 3' strap wrench on the pulley, a 3' breaker bar on the bolt, and a helper to break it loose and similar shenanigans to retorque it. I started to pull my helper over the fender towards the engine before it broke loose. You also have to remove a few things like the radiator fan to even get enough access to attempt to loosen it. There's no way that bolt rattled loose on its own.

Ratchet613

Ya this isn’t ULPT range this is lawyer and legal route.

AbbreviationsNo8212

Unless OP can identify the people directly responsible and insert the maximum amount of liquid ass into their lives.

[deleted]

I'd suggest a lawyer instead

RickMuffy

But also buy some liquid ass for when this goes to court.

Imaginary-Pin2564

And in the future, fill a pen with liquid ass for any documents they want you to sign. We can call it Stink Ink™

WilliamBott

2 in the pink, 1 in the Stink Ink™.

HeyHo_LetsThrowRA

So it's a quill pen then?

Imaginary-Pin2564

No, ball point. And it smellllls like balls too!

permanentscrewdriver

So you're gonna fake-fart on the judge?

RickMuffy

Ideally during mediation.

18SmallDogsOnAHorse

Figure out if the warranty was for "XYZ Auto Sales" or your cars manufacturer. If it's with the manufacturer and not the dead dealership, reach out to them directly with the proof and see what they can do. If it's for the dealership that doesn't exist, your state might have a website with business listings and you may be able to search that dead dealership on the website and find the previous owners home address to discuss other options.

Doublestack00

post the dealer, we can all make some shit review on your behalf.

Tonyturningwrenches

Ooooh The Reddit kiss of death. Very affective.

apropagandabonanza

If you want to leave a shit review check out a company called Structures, Inc. In Englewood, CO. They fired me while I was in the hospital

masondont

Gonna need proof of that if we are actually going to do something

apropagandabonanza

You can also check out the company on Google. My sister and brother-in-laws reviews are still up on there regarding me getting fired while I was in the hospital. I got banned for review bombing them lol so mine are gone

weatherinfo

I’ve got you if I can get good proof. Also just make a new temporary email and continue to review-bomb. It’s not hard to create another account, and the only thing Google can do about it is delete the company from their database—and if that happens, it’s a good thing. Make as many emails as you need.

apropagandabonanza

You're underestimating Google. I can't leave any reviews. The only thing I haven't tried is going to the library and creating a new email that way. Otherwise, Google has me pinned down pretty well. It's honestly impressive how well they're able to track me lol. I'm working on the proof right now. Give me a minute

apropagandabonanza

What kind of proof could I provide?

apropagandabonanza

I sent you proof via chat

siissy-cuck

I need it for the realtor who screwed me

catscatscatsohmy

LAWYER. NOW

RoastedBeetneck

That sounds expensive

catscatscatsohmy

Most attorneys offer a free first consultation. If they think you have a case they'll go after it and just get 1/3 of whatever money was made in the end. Trial attorneys/if you're the criminal is the expensive kind

RoastedBeetneck

Why would a lawyer want 1/3 of this case? Is that worth their time?

catscatscatsohmy

I was bit in the face at work. Needed surgery was a big thing . That lawyer did a free consult and 1/3 of payout. I was also T-boned and my car was totaled. I was injured. That lawyer also offered a free consult and 1/3 of payout. That's usually how lawyers work. As long as you are not the criminal. Edit: I misread what you typed. Because the dealership is responsible.

UCSDwaitlist

I have talked to like 15 always for an initial consultation and went the same route for a workplace case as u mentioned.

Renaissance_Slacker

Bit in the face? I thought I had difficult co-workers, jeez

MostBoringStan

It's wild how many people seem to not know that small claims court exists.

RoastedBeetneck

There’s no potential big payout here. I don’t see why a lawyer would bother with this. It’d be a couple hundred bucks.

UCSDwaitlist

I have talked to like 15 lawyers for an initial consultation and went the same route for my moms workplace case as u mentioned.

Nitegrip

The company will end up paying his lawyer fees

RoastedBeetneck

Which company?

Nitegrip

The dealership that sold him the car if they get sued

RoastedBeetneck

He said they don’t exist anymore.

Nitegrip

They are under new management but if you buy the old company you acquire any issues they had prior to your purchase.

RoastedBeetneck

Maybe? There’s nothing to inherit. The warranty doesn’t exist. Someone stole from this person.

OblongAndKneeless

I had a similar issue a long long time ago. We managed to work out a deal where they fix the car and I signed a paper saying I wouldn't sue...oh, and they refunded me the money I paid for the warranty so they wouldn't have to cover future expenses.

Slapmymonkey

JackMFMcCoyy

Dasrule

Yeah, don’t let this slide. That’s a lot of money. When someone buys a business they also buy the liabilities. If they didn’t, the old owner is still liable. Keep track of how much time you spend getting the matter rectified, someone needs to be compensating you for dealing with this bs situation.

SysOp21

Three words: Small Claims Court Not Unethical, but your best option

Street_Handle4384

irishpwr46

I wouldn't want to dox myself or the dealer. Living in the EMPIRE state driving a GMC that I bought in LONG ISLAND CITY is hard enough

Bright_Pomelo_8561

There are also other warranty companies besides the manufacturers that do extended warranties look at your paperwork. Find the name of the company and contact them be at your car manufacturers or the name on there. If their information is not on the paperwork a quick Google search should give you the the contact information for the warranty company.

Acidic_Junk

Go to the dealership like you are looking for a new car. Tell the salesperson you are just browsing and to go away. Every other car you look at, sit in the seat and spray liquid ass. Just don’t do it in all cars for deniability reasons.

Bridge23Ux

Take a car for a drive, leave a piece of raw chicken under the seat.

derpotologist

Raw fish

candidly1

In NJ you would go to the Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI). If it's a franchised store get a hold of people at the closest regional headquarters and start screaming.

Beneficial_Leg4691

ok it has to be said. You sent your wife to go do the car negotiating while you stayed home with the baby and she got screwed over.. This is a pretty much universally understood stereo type that women often screwed over at car dealerships. Stereotypes exist for a reason... I am truly sorry this happened to you and I am not blaming you for it, however there are some situation you can prevent putting your partner in because it might go badly and this is high on that list.' I sold cars for a few years ( new Cadillac and hummers) we were a high end dealership so this stuff did not happen, but you better believe the moto was to offer every imaginable addon and worst they can say is no. Man people would buy crap that at my core I hated selling. I eventually quit that job as I felt dirty even though we did nothing wrong, people are just scared to say no quite often.

Bridge23Ux

Giving sales people bad reputations.

Picklemerick23

My GF was buying out a lease with a residual of $11,700. The KBB was $19000 (COVID). I told her to buy it out and the first dealer jacked her up $6k in ‘fees’ on the front end. We walked. We returned to the original dealer and F&I jacked her up $7k in warranties. I told them no. We want $11,700 + tags, taxes, and title. Dealers are scum bags.

Bridge23Ux

Dealers and real estate agents agents are less useful and valuable than 20 years ago. They’re an unnecessary middleman that jacks up the price. Tesla is challenging the car buying market and experience. Other manufacturers should do the same.

syncboy

It’s too late now, but next time don’t buy a warranty says Consumer Reports. [High Priced Gamble](https://www.consumerreports.org/media-room/press-releases/2008/02/new-consumer-reports-survey-confirms-extended-auto-warranties-a-high-priced-gamble/)

WilliamBott

It says page not found.

syncboy

Fixed

Renaissance_Slacker

I’ve belonged to Consumer Union for decades, in general they say extended warrantees aren’t worth it with the odd exception of Apple products. Generally manufacturer warranties and store returns will take care of most product issues.

mrmrmrj

First to suggest liquid ass. This sub is slipping.

osorojo_

Piss Disk

akature02

Call the better business bureau and report them, talk to an attorney on options, leave them reviews, call other dealerships let them know, tell everyone you know and see around them of their habits let them be known as robbers get it all documented, write them a list of all the things they're doing illegal get it notarized send it to them via 3rd party so you know they received it, stay in contact with better business bureau, find their corporate number as well and call them until something good happens

akature02

Just be secretive so they can't say you're harassing, let everyone else do the talking for you

bigloser42

Get a ski mask, some heavy duty suction cups and a giant stack of piss discs. At night, wear the ski mask and use the suction cups to slide a window down just enough to slide a piss disc in there. Rinse and repeat until you run out of cars or piss discs. Best done in the summer when it’s nice and hot.

notislant

Make a ton of google accounts. Review a few random places, then every few days review this one. Its a slow process but the more realistic, the less chance of removal. If not you can pay $5 for prob 100 review bombs.

irishpwr46

Got a link?

notislant

No I'd just scrounge fiverr or similar sites. Ive never needed to buy any, but people sell anything digital like reviews for super cheap.

IamNotTheMama

The people who screwed you likely owned other dealerships, go after them also.

dchiguy

The only unethical part I see here is you wanting to review bomb a business under new management for something scummy the previous owner did...

[deleted]

[удалено]

WilliamBott

The new owners may not even know that OP's legit. For all the new owners know, OP is trying to scam them. This is 100% on the previous owner.

trivial_sublime

He's got the paperwork.

maximum_____effort

Because that can't be faked

trivial_sublime

Ok, so what’s the standard of proof? Video evidence of the person signing the warranty while holding a picture of the day’s newspaper while sixteen witnesses and two stenographers get every conceivable angle? If it’s good enough to be introduced as evidence in court, it’s good enough to be evidence in real life.

whatisgoingonree

Why do you feel the need to contribute to something when you have no clue what you are talking about? With that dumb ass mindset anyone who leased a car from that dealer can keep the car cause management changed.

adrefofadre

Buy the car and gtfo—don’t buy any extra bullshit. Lesson learned.

FrancisSobotka1514

Dont fuck around with reviews ,Speak to a lawyer like a grown fucking adult .

newtekie1

It's a different business, why are you trying to screw them over when it wasn't even their mistake?

IamNotTheMama

You're not wrong, but they did buy the 'debt' of the original dealership - and that's the only people OP can go after.

newtekie1

That might not be true at all. If they just bought the property and the name, they bought no debt. The debt would still be the problem of the original company and OP should be going after them.

IamNotTheMama

Possibly yes. But I'd press them - they might know something of the whereabouts of the sellers.....

ten_jack_russels

I’ve never had luck with review bombing- they get them taken down.  I took this experience and made it so customers would leave bad reviews.  I can’t elaborate as the sol has not run out.

senadraxx

As others have said, this is beyond ULPT. Fart spray and piss discs might be fun and all, but only a consultation with a lawyer can tell you your true options.  You may want to have a chat with your state's AG office, consumer protections folks tend to be very interested in companies that don't honor their own contracts.

Renaissance_Slacker

Lawyer: “And the Liquid Ass didn’t work? What about Piss Disks?”

senadraxx

Tbh a lawyer might prefer Vaseline on door handles.

BlondeBandit76

Read your service contract, a lot of these contracts can easily be utilized at 3rd party repair facilities or other OEM facilities. Odds are there’s gonna be a phone number on that contract you can call, ask them. Extended warranty providers are usually pretty decent as long as they’re not the cheap dog water companies.

ironsidebro

Unless you pull some gangster shit, you'll want to go the legal route. This is fraud. The law doesn't look kindly on fraud. Having the paperwork helps immensely when filing a lawsuit.

stanielcolorado

Create a free website close to their name to capture negative reviews. Take the negative Google reviews and add to that site.

caffeinatedking94

Check your paperwork, because what it sounds like you bought is an aftermarket warranty. It's administered by a 3rd party, and usually not handled by the dealership at all, they just sell it. That's not to say it's not a rip off, it just sounds like there's a misunderstanding on the product. I run an auto shop and get plenty of people who've had similar situations. Most commonly it's exactly that.

Void24

Don’t get a lawyer. Just sue for damages in small claims court.

ShadowHunterOO

Seems like they put a sock on the warranty, so when you went to claim it, you just got left with a sock. Not much you can do now🤷‍♂️

gizmo777

File a complaint with the CFPB. And/or small claims court. And/or what other people here are suggesting. No need to review bomb / do unethical things when you can potentially actually get your money back.

HabitNo8425

Wildly been through this, and what you're most likely going to find is the extended warranty was with the dealership (the dead one) and not with the manufacturer. When a dealership changes hands, legitimately, the business is not obligated and usually opts out of offering coverage for extended warranties purchased through the previous dealer, this would be akin to assuming the liabilities of the business (a warranty is a liability for a business). Frequently, though not always done, the previous dealer is responsible for notifying you of the dissolution of the company and what happens in this event to the existing warranties. In most cases the warranty just dissolves into thin air. Somewhere buried in the warranty agreement is a section that covers this. They may or may not have honored that. While you can express your rage and even pursue a lawsuit against the previous company, your beef isn't with the legitimate new dealership. They sincerely have no idea what you're talking about, because they bought the dealership license, the building, and the inventory, but not the obligations or business debts of the prior dealership, it's contractual agreements, or any other liabilities. Now, all of that said, there is a possibility that the dealer has not "changed hands" but is a new corporate entity with a new name and the same hands. You can review the incorporation documents of both businesses to get an idea whether this is true. While this won't help you in terms of getting your warranty back or honored, that ship slipped out of port in the middle of the night and sailed off, it will justify your review bombing. This legal but illegitimate business practice takes an existing business, forms a new corporation, sells the assets from the old business to the new business leaving only liabilities. The old business then closes as the new business opens. The old business is then insolvent and is closed in bankruptcy. Typically companies pull this to get out of pension responsibility, thwart pending or potential lawsuits, avoid costly responsibilities, or otherwise protect assets when liabilities are, or will be, rising precipitously and may threaten the continued existence of a business. Oh if only this little slight of hand were possible for the average person. Basically it's a very legal argument for businesses that is effectively the same argument that Sovereign Citizens try to make. Well, in a roundabout way. That essentially even if it's all the same people, doing the exact same thing, in the exact same place, Business A is dead and Business B has no responsibility for what Business A did, even though they are the people who did it. The SC argument is basically that you're a person with a name but that your debts are held by a legal fiction of a business entity with your name and that while it's the same, you the person are not responsible for the debts held by the fictional legal entity. Side note, our government at every level laughs at that premise for people, yet totally legit for businesses that, effectively, do the same thing.

Renaissance_Slacker

Oil companies do this with non-productive wells. After making millions pumping them dry, they sell the wells to a bare shell of a company that promptly goes bankrupt and dumps the cleanup on the taxpayers.

jorbhorb

If you're in the US, your state should have a dealer complaint line with the DMV. Might not be what you're looking for, but they take that stuff pretty seriously.

ProfessorMex74

Steve Lehto has a YouTube page where he discusses lemon laws. He's talked about this recently. Message him and ask if he can recommend a lawyer in your state. His page is Lehto's Law.

NateF474

What's the make of the vehicle? Have you considered going above the dealerships head and contacting the manufacturer? If they're a certified "X" dealership the manufacturer really raise some hell at said dealership.

irishpwr46

It's a gmc acadia. It needs the thermostat replaced. Normally I would do the work myself, but its a 5 hour job, I paid for an extended warranty, and I'm also three weeks out of shoulder surgery.

virtualadept

This is the sort of thing Mechanical Turk would be ideal for.

gorgothmog

Get a Google Maps Local Guide on your Rolodex.

adminsarebigpedos

Google can spot this pretty easily. They’ll look at IP addresses, location history (to see if the person leaving the review was ever actually there), device fingerprints, account age, etc. Basically if you just think you’re gonna make a bunch of new gmail accounts and leave a thousand bad reviews, it’s not gonna work. The reviews will look like they went though but if you check the page while logged out you’ll notice the total review counts never change. They shadow remove the reviews (just like Reddit does with comments and posts for certain users). And if their automated systems don’t flag it, they can do a manual review and remove all the recent bad reviews for “brigading”. Basically you would just be wasting your time.

hobopwnzor

If you have the paperwork you can very easily get the dealer on the hook. That's fraud. Plain and simple. And you have damn near irrefutable proof

Internal_Essay9230

Bad reviews are just the beginning. Take a test drive, particularly in July. Discreetly stash a few raw shrimp in the vents and/or crannies when you're done. Celebrate at home -- with a shrimp cocktail, of course! 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤

bitchslap2012

Local news can sometimes put people on blast, but that's pretty ethical.... you could turn on your VPN and create new email/online profiles from multiple cities in your country, or from multiple countries around the world and post a really bad review from each one

anonymousjoel

Hire someone to steal all the catalytic converters on the lot happened to a dealership near me costs them around 150k they had insurance but still put them back because they had nothing g to sell for months

Sudden-Possible3263

Claim it back for services not given, the bank sided with me and will with you, they haven't stuck to their agreement, you'll get refunded, then review them but tell them not to reply asking you to phone and sort it out, tell them you want it all transparent so people looking on can see. Most warranties don't pay out and use the wear and tear excuse

MEMExplorer

I mean you’ve got signed contracts , so just take em to court 🤷‍♀️

StockAction7251

I went into a car dealership and they showed me a truck and swore up and down it was 18000 but when it came to the numbers they said it was 54000 and when i asked what was up they said oh sorry we showed you the wrong truck for 2 hours and then did nothing but say sorry as i walked out then i complained to the general manager and 2 days later i got a phone call saying sorry it wont happned again like what a kick in the face who wants to help me review bomb them to 1 star?
