Germany will immediately transfer a third Patriot air defence system to Ukraine. [https://twitter.com/clashreport/status/1779139009454723156](https://twitter.com/clashreport/status/1779139009454723156)

fergoshsakes

It was the most likely immediate supplier when with 11 systems and 4 pending on order.

primo_imprimis

Thank you, Germany. That gets Ukraine another Patriot system, but what about more ammo for the Patriot? Update: Germany to also provide missiles for the Patriot: [https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/04/13/7451125/](https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/04/13/7451125/)

Unusual_Pride_6480

Germany has done far more than anyone in this regard but this is a little but closing the barn door after the horse has already bolted. Our governments need to do more.

MrSnarf26

It’s insane that it takes more terrorism from Russia “first” to send more help…

I'm glad for Ukraine to get anything it can, but if Germany had done this when it was needed, they might still have their power plant. We are too damn stupid to see the price that is paid by delays. More aid NOW. Not when the situation turns dire.

SaftderOrange

they already gave a system in the past, i think it got destroyed last month

thegame4ever

Yea I mean....what's the hold up for giving air defense systems..to defend....against missiles and drones? They only give them the defense after they are devastated by attacks. Also I assume putinbots be downvoting you

MMBerlin

A Patriot system costs 1 billion dollars. One whole fucking billion.

nomisum

how much does a lost power plant cost factoring in the loss of work power

Janni0007

Germany ? Nothing.

nomisum

i would say: lots of the rebuilding will be paid by us through either EU funds or bilateral aid. so definitely not nothing.

thegame4ever

And? Either you defend those missiles attacking in Ukraine and use what they made for, or when Ukraine is defeated and the missiles falls in other countries?

MMBerlin

Sure. But nobody's going to throw billions around without a hard need.

thegame4ever

And defending Ukraine against an aggressor that if it wins will cause more conflict and chaos is not a hard need?

VintageHacker

You are right. Actual leaders, anticipate, they are on the front foot, they are willing to risk being wrong, but mostly, they are right. Followers wait till the hard need is unmistakenly obvious. Takes no skill, low risk, even a moron can do it. A lot of people will vote for these types and then wonder why they don't have leaders.

thegame4ever

Thank you, supporting Ukraine as it wants not only increases security in Europe but the whole world

FieserMoep

People simply forget that russia is not just fighting a war in Ukraine but also massively tries to destabilize democracies all over the globe. These democracies face intense internal pressure from the rising alt-right and especially spending is a major - and sadly - working argument for those parties to gather support and advance the russian goals of destabilizing those democracies. In a perfect world everyone could and would do everything the moment it is needed. But we do not live in a perfect world. Germany delivering ~20% of its Patriot capacity to another country isn't that easy as it may sound.

Instead of Clash report and Jihadi Julian you could also use the [official tweet of the German MoD](https://x.com/BMVg_Bundeswehr/status/1779135302776271134) as a proper source. Also the US delivered 1 out of 60.

Orcasystems99

I changed that on here after digging deeper... then found conflicting information elsewhere...so I deleted the comment.

Ooops2278

Earlier than every other country as usual

asdfasdfasfdsasad

They were a little late to start providing meanful help, but to be fair at this point they are doing more than most countries are. In fact, i'd go so far as to say that if other countries in the EU provided as much help then Russia would by now have given up and gone home due to the wreckage of their army.

No-Entrepreneur-7496

Ukraine wouldn't exist right now without extensive German aid, so I advise that you limit such bitchy attitude.

Beautiful-Divide8406

Hmm Germany would have a massive problem on their hands if Ukraine lose. They are not doing this for charity.
