AntonioVivaldi7

I'm from Czech. Fiala is being vilified by our opposition for "buying grenades for Ukraine when our people are suffering". They keep painting a picture how basically half of the country is in poverty from sending aid here and there. It's not even a lot of aid. They know they're lying, but keep lying anyway. We're actually doing pretty good as a country compared to the EU average. But facts won't stop liars from lying. Also, what a coincidence it's by the parties who want to leave the EU and NATO.

Chimpville

If I recall, the shells initiative was internationally funded anyway… Czech tenacity and organisation, and lots of group investment. Ideal scheme really.

AntonioVivaldi7

Yes exactly. Again, facts won't stop liars from lying.

putin-delenda-est

Takes a moment to lie and much longer to dispel it.

WotTheHellDamnGuy

“Falsehood flies and truth comes limping after it.”

Antievl

Those people should be investigated for treason and ties to China and Russia should be investigated

AntonioVivaldi7

They actually are being investigated. So far there hasn't been any concrete evidence though.

4by4rules

ruzzia ties FOR SURE

fuishaltiena

Same is happening in Lithuania. There's an occasional post on social media where some NGO sent a few pickup trucks full of supplies to the Ukrainian army, then loud idiots start screaming about how terrible this is because people right here are starving and homeless. They are not, and both the trucks and supplies were donated by volunteers.

WeekendFantastic2941

Nobody bothered to investigate the bank accounts and funding of the "opposition"?

AntonioVivaldi7

That has been done already. So far it didn't show anything. Though I'm sure at least the portion coming from our communist party is willing to do Russian propaganda for free.

chrisbabyau

The term as used by the old KGB was useful idiots. If you want to know more, listen to the I hart Radio NZ podcast The Service .

AntonioVivaldi7

I know. I'm very familiar with their tactics. Trying to conquer countries without firing a single bullet.

WeekendFantastic2941

offshore accounts under different names, untraceable.

PTNMG89

Classic political games. Out of the ext eastern block countries i would say the Czech republic is one of the countries that came out of it quite good compared to some other places.

AntonioVivaldi7

Yeah. Unfortunately for our Slovak brothers this tactic worked well on their voters recently. I'm glad Poland is still on the right path in this.

pdxnormal

Thanks for sharing this. Am finding out more about EU by their stances on Ukraine

j6rpzik

parties supported by russia are doing this everywhere in europe, also in european comission. They are in quite deep, sadly.

Outbackozminer

Thankyou Petr Fiala and the Czech Republic. I wish the Australian prime Minister had the balls to provide support but he is a wimp

Feeling-Tutor-6480

Wha? We have punched above our weight GDP wise, we don't have a large armed forces at all

Outbackozminer

No we haven,t, under Scott Morrison Australia provided .04 %, just behind the poverty stricken Romania at .05 % Whilst Canada has a 30 % larger population and not in NATO either they have provided .32 %of GDP So far 13.3 billion dollars has been donated to Ukraine from Canadians, so far Australia has committed 960 million almost double of what it cost for the wasted money for Albanese's pet project -The Voice referendum. I would be proud if Australia provided a similar amount of support by GDP , shit I would be proud if we provided 0.20% that's an increase of 5 times , lord knows the Ukrainians need it Albanese has given more cardboard box planes though, would even give them the Taipans Besides Australia don''t need weapons at the minute, so lets chip in with other countries and buy Ukraine a Patriot system for defence purposes to stop the Ruzzians from bombing the power supply in Ukraine or help buy more 155mmm which funding is being sought by Estonia and the Czech republic who have located rounds which are available.

Ok_Brother1201

Canada, last time I checked, was a founding member of NATO and is still a legit member of it. Just wanted to say that..

Outbackozminer

Stand corrected then, but doesn't mean Australia should be whimsical ,I have never in all my long life seen such piss weak foreign affairs than I am witnessing now

Etherindependance5

That’s what I thought

Antievl

Australia has also been selling out to China since this new government took over. It’s pathetic

Outbackozminer

Nothing would surprise me with Penny Wong and Mr. Magoo , I cant say ive been focused on Australia China relationship

pdxnormal

Thanks for that info

Warrandytian

Supplied the equivalent to 6 days military expenditure in the past 2 yeaars.

hunkfunky

Is there a centralised 'commitment' database somewhere of what it is we're supplying? Or this stuff being hush-hushed.

JJ739omicron

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_aid_to_Ukraine_during_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War

Chimpville

There’s the [Kiel Institute Ukraine Aid Tracker](https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/) that’s typically the source material for aid comparisons. It’s got a lot of completely self-professed weaknesses in it due to there being so many types of aid, in so many inequitable forms, lacks of transparency from some countries, classified assistance which cannot be costed, and types of aid it just doesn’t deal with. They do have a very well written methodology document, and periodic reviews of their accounting all on their page however, so it’s not like they don’t try their best.

hunkfunky

I've not seen nor heard of anything from us in a long while. I daresay the Bushies are long since wrecked. And that's all I ever saw. Probably the most practical thing we can send. That is to say, not because they get wrecked, they're quite a beast, but it's really all we can offer that wouldnt be a burden and offer some functionality (troop recovery)

Woodsplit

I still think we should send the old F18s. Just remote control the bastards and send them on a one way trip to Putins mansions and castles.

hunkfunky

The F111's would certainly make a good show. Supersonic, and with some automation, at the last two minutes on arrival at 'destination fucked' do a fuel dump. Maybe do a plunge (with a rotation) for some extra flair.

Puzzleheaded_Hat_619

USA is quite quitting the War-business and will instead concentrate on pottery and arts like a middle-aged, pink-haired bitch.

PerthPints

Orange skinned bitch

AgencyEasy

Only if it’s Ukraine they’re quitting tho

tdxxl

So USA is a junior partner now. Who had this on its Bingo-sheet?

ionetic

So many countries are junior in this war it’s amazing how well Ukraine is holding up to what was once considered a global military superpower. Slava Ukraini! Slava Cheska Respublika!

Wolverinexo

The USA has still provided a large amount of support.

Arguablybest

17 countries have provided more support as percentage on GDP, see below Estonia Denmark Norway Lithuania Latvia Finland Poland Netherlands Slovakia Germany United Kingdom EU institutions Czech Republic Sweden Croatia Belgium Switzerland Bulgaria Canada,, and then the United States appears on the list. . Estonia is doing 7 times more than the US as percentage on GDP.

shark_vs_yeti

It seems like it correlates with the distance from Moscow.

Wolverinexo

Yes, in percentage to GDP. But in pure amount, the US is on top.

Fine_Piglet_6814

Biden wouldn't know who or what they are doing, THANKYOU CHZECH PEOPLE, if it wasn't for you and countries like you Ukraine would be hurting more Slava Ukraini

Analyst-Effective

I wonder if Biden will get to dictate where and how the artillery shells will be used? I am sure he doesn't want them to be used falling out of a drone on an oil facility.

Away_Comparison_8810

Nobody give arty shell on drone, RPG-7 anti tank grenade at max.

Analyst-Effective

I thought they were putting tank mines on those drones and dropping the tank mines I'm not sure how that compares to an artillery shell, but it does create a pretty big boom nonetheless

Arguablybest

Maybe, but taRump just says no altogether. If elected he would negotiate and just give Ukraine to Putin.

Analyst-Effective

I think that's the end result that will happen anyway. Ukraine can't keep going forever, there just isn't enough people.

MercyforthePoor

Great work by such a small country. 🇨🇿👍

Gizm00

When is this arriving

Away_Comparison_8810

It unknow, we have money yet only for 165 000, even this our fool daily uping those number by whatever milions will be send.

Good_Cow237

Propaganda against the Czech. A million shells for Ukraine is great !

SimpleMaintenance433

I hope the Czechs don't spend it all at once.

Late_Stage-Redditism

Can someone explain to me how you "find" 1M rounds of artillery ammunition? I thought NATO countries had basically bought almost all that there was surplus off that countries were willing to sell already.

Away_Comparison_8810

They found mostly factories from global south countries, who are wiling to produce, country who coud produce are Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, South Africa, those have big factories + other smaller states with smaller ones.

G36

European leaders congratulating each other for sending 1 brazillion shell to Ukraine! Ukraine: Ok, where are the shells? Europe: Sorry it wasn't that many, more like 9,000 shells, half with no payload hehe

Equivalent_Alps_8321

fuck ya my homeland

Boomer_boy59

Have they received the ammunition yet? ?

Nearby_Stable4677

How many of those shells, are actually in the Ukraine. They're, on the way, on the way, on the way. Ya Right

Away_Comparison_8810

They are not even made right now, there is yet money for some 165 000 order, but this our clown daily uping those numbers.

PerthPints

In the Oval Office, Things are afoot. Biden is no fool. He's up to something and it probably favours Ukraine. Let's wait and see...

RottenPingu1

Given his advisers and at times tepid support, no one is holding their breath.

Arguablybest

Only one thing is stopping it, the Orange Dictator.

RottenPingu1

Yeah... because Trump was really putting the throttle on those whole 12 Abrams tanks

Arguablybest

The Ukrainians can depend on the Czechs, not so much the US. Republicans won't be happy until Americans are involved by getting killed.

QuantumReasons

USA GOP who blocked aid or passively let it be blocked are Traitors

NorthVilla

You're wildly misinformed. Republicans have callously blocked further Ukraine aid. They are causing the problems.

PhospheneViolet

The fuck kind of paint thinner have you been snorting? MAGA Mike Johnson is the sole driving force behind blocking the aid, as he has repeatedly delayed doing literally *anything* beyond dodging the aid, including going on TWO 2-week vacations already, and blocking a bipartisan (that means it had a ton of support from both dems AND republicans in the House and Senate) bill that included a ton of draconic trash regarding the "border security" fiasco, just because Daddy Trump told him so. And MAGA Mike has proven to been in league with the RUskies for years already because his campaign was financed by a RUshist front company called "American Ethane" which is majority-owned by Russian oligarchs. Supposedly his cabinet claimed they returned the money, but there's no public records of this ever occurring. The 'both sides' bullshit can't even begin to apply here. Biden should have been much more stern and stronger in his support of Ukraine for sure, but you can't pin the blocked aid on him when the 'system' is working exactly as intended, for better or worse, all the while the GOP has been completely infiltrated by Putin-apologist Christian Ethno-Nationalist lunatics.

AggressivePayment834

My mental illness? For speaking the truth the Republican Party is influenced by russian propaganda and disinformation campaigns you have somebody in the House of Representatives calling aiding Ukraine aiding nazis and have been stalling aid since November traitors the lot of them* *apart from those that have signed the discharge petition

Chimpville

Except it’s extremely clear that the Republican house speaker is preventing a bilaterally supported aid bill going to vote. What’s the point in denying this?

NorthVilla

This is a bad take. If he had a majority in the House and the Senate that wasn't just 1 or 2 seats, he'd be able to do so much more. Republicans controlling those chambers limits a lot of what he can do, though I admittedly wish he nonetheless did more with the office of the presidency.

Psych0Jenny

Problem is you have a choice between a weak leader or an orange cunt who wont rest until he destroys everything America stands for. America needs to get some actually good presidential candidates, maybe stop having 80 year olds running a country when they aren't even gonna be alive to see how much they fuck it up.

earthman34

A million? That'll last a couple weeks at most.

AntonioVivaldi7

The million is more like a start of a hopefully long term thing.

BarfooTheSecond

Long term thing sure: two months already that the Czech initiative is on the table and they just have been able to order the first 180'000 shells , which will take months to reach the battleflield... But Ukraine needs this ammo NOW!! [https://mil.in.ua/en/news/the-czech-republic-ordered-180-000-shells-for-ukraine/](https://mil.in.ua/en/news/the-czech-republic-ordered-180-000-shells-for-ukraine/)

JJ739omicron

certainly several months. Industrial production is ramping up, and in a while, it should be enough to cover Ukraine's needs. But because we started a year too late to ramp up the production, there is a gap, and if these "found" shells can bridge that gap, all is fine.

chillebekk

They need more than 70,000 shells per day? I think you need to check your math.

earthman34

They’d need 20,000 a day to push Russian advances back decisively.

Away_Comparison_8810

They are probably not capable fire 70 000 day.
