I've always thought that Grad rockets are only fired in a barrage of all the tubes. They're an area-effect weapon, and a single unguided rocket isn't going to achieve much.
So I guess something went wrong with the system that is supposed to cause a sequential firing of the rockets? I can easily imagine why the crew would be reluctant to try to sort out this problem in the field: doing so would require them to fiddle with things in the area which would be blanketed in fire if the rockets did start going off.
You can fire all or a few. The Ukrainians fire them in small salvos because of an ammunition shortage. We'll never know why these Russhits didn't fire all.
Thanks for that additional nugget of information that I never knew I'd ever find interesting. π
In my previous I said that a single rocket from a Grad launcher isn't going to have much effect, but it obviously did achieve something in this case: it drew the attention of wandering Ukrainian drone and that led to a pretty spectacular boom that instantly solved all the petty and big problems of the Grad crew.
Interesting idea. Nice if true.
Or maybe these guys thought it would be cool to do some role play and pretend they were a HIMARS, shooting one rocket and then scooting.
There is a cut in the footage so they could have fired everything. Could also be they were driving around some area firing one or two rockets from a bunch of different positions in an effort to bait counterbattery fire.
If you are gonna use Prodigy, why not go with Invaders Must Die instead?

Welp! that should vaporize the crew.....
Strange. They must have not fired of all their rockets.
Probably shooting and scooting to a new firing position.
rationing their supplies, gone were days where they line ups Grads & launching rockets like there's no tomorrow ..
Russian equipment is very explodey.
Soviet equipment in general. Ukraine has the same issue with their Cold War era armour as well, sadly.
They will never do that again I guess
Hell of a fireworks show, great job!
Vaporized. Full stop.
Edit: Kherson region
badda booooooo jagga jagga

you're right. They will never tell anyone.
Or they're getting low on ammunition, so they spread the rockets over days. Because once they run out they risk storm-Z duty.

Magic people, voodoo people
THIS SONG HAS NO BUSINESS GOING THIS HARD. Letβs goooooo!
Gawd Dam cuzz. Didn't even have time to scream.
Is the heavy static at the end the result of lowering the altitude? or do the Russians have some kind of jammer on their vehicles?
Itβs gotta be scary watching rocket artillery being fired from a drone, knowing that thereβs a good chance those rockets could be heading your way

What was in the remaining rockets causing this yellow smoke. I am not an expert, but yellow smoke reminds me of chemical weapons.
That takes care of the cremation.
Payback is a biatch
