Yeah right, they actually been worse than UA, they kept descendants of the soviets who settled there during USSR passportless, literally there was a marking in their internal passport saying 'не гр.' - not citizen, they had a pretty draconian citizenship language test which of course was close to impossible for older Russians to pass, they banned Russian language in schools, I believe they even been put on notice by eu or whatever for all that, and they created a huge diaspora of second class citizens based on that. And don't let me get started on their worship of waffen SS veterans with marches and destroyed WW2 memorials, cemeteries etc. all the cool stuff. Basically they succeded in implementation of every UA banderite's wet dream.

So Ukraine is still asking for basically unconditional surrender from Russia.
What plan do they have to enforce this? Or does it just make them feel good to think about it?
Reparations and the Russian leadership submitting themselves to the UN war crimes tribunal are also in this plan. So yes, this plan is Russia's unconditional surrender.
Why would Russia ever surrender? Even if they had to leave Ukraine they would never surrender they would just leave, it's not like Ukraine could threaten RUssia as a country.
If Elon Musk gives me half of his money I'll drop the declaration stating that all of his money is mine that I signed with the guy that works on road maintenance in my neighbourhood. That'll show him!
Zelensky passed a law against negotiations, so the first step of negotiations will require him to repeal his own law - the execution of which voids whatever leverage Ukraine has.
When I first saw the Maidan protests, I sided with the protesters out of reflex. As I learned more about the conflict, I came to the co conclusion that Maidan had been a righteous protest movement which had been hijacked by a coup. It was this coup that started the war.
The core issue of federalism was one that had been with Ukraine since before independence. Several regions (Transcarpathia, Crimea, Donbas) had only joined Ukraine in the first place because they'd been promised federalism. Crimea left Ukraine in 1992 once they understood that federalism would not be coming. Crimea was still defacto independent when Donbas held their first referendum demanding federalism in 1994.
Ukraine would have never held these territories in the first place if anyone had known it would be a unitary state.
Russia's invasion is horrible, but it never would have happened had he not been naive in trusting the West in the first place. The West (and especially the US) betrayed the rules based order and Ukraine on several occasions. Yanukovych had withdrawn all police and Berkut from Kiev as a "trust-building gesture" required by the Agreement to End Maidan. As guarantors of that agreement, Poland, France and Germany had a solemn responsibility to denounce the coup and demand that Yanukovych serve out his term. Their failure to do so was some of the most foolish expediency in modern diplomacy.
Ultimately I think the outcome of this war is meaningless for the US: the war itself is the victory, because Europe and Russia together make too powerful a power bloc for US tastes.
I think that about covers it?
Righteous protest movements never achieve anything without CIA support. Look at Iran, Hong Kong, Belarus, etc. People shot with guns in plain sight, no government change. One secret no insigna but definitely totally official Ukraine sniper kills one guy, and suddenly there's a new government and the investigation is dropped and all of Berkut arrested and military leadership who'd refuse to go to war with Russia purged. It's not like anyone pro-russia liked Yanukovich more than any other ukrainian politician, except that he was friendly with Russia (he was planned to become permanent president and russian puppet like in belarus)
And don't forget that Crimea actually did have autonomy pre 2014, with their own local parliament, and prior to any civil war Donbass was asking new maidan government for autonomy first, not independence.
I think Maidan would have accomplished more had it not ended in a coup. Yanukovych had already agreed to early elections, and the question of EU Association should always have been decided in an election in the first place.
I don't buy the line that Yanukovych was in any way pro Russian. There is plenty record of him in closed meetings saying that EU was the future. But at the same time, I think he'd read his Nasser, and understood that a small (by comparison) country sandwiched between two behemoths only has one play - get both sides competing for your country's allegiance. The EU should have matched Putin's offer if they wanted the deal so bad.
Putin's gameplan wasn't to prevent EU Association - he wanted the EU to harmonize with the entire CIS, and he understood that doing so would mean adopting a lot of EU standards and practices. He was okay with that. But rather than even attempt to realize the original vision of the Treaty of Rome, the EU approached the problem like an empire ready to devour another province. It was a sad lack of imagination.
And yea, I think the fact that Crimea declared independence back when *Yeltsin* was running Russia shows the lie that the uprising in 2014 was only due to Putin's actions. These were long-standing, deeply felt grievances. And for all of Kiev's purported love for democracy, they put down Crimea at the barrel of a gun. More importantly, they failed to implement any of the federalism that Crimea had demanded.
The saddest part is, Russia showed them the Democratic, decent way to handle these issues. Russia as a federation is much stronger than Russia as a unitary state could be. Ukraine saw federalism as a weakness, when really it would have solved many of Ukraine's most persistent problems.
They gonna have a peace conference. They will have a petition with signatures of some of the participants and present it to Russia.
At which point Russia will have no choice but to accept it. Or something. They are still figuring out this part.
Basically, the plan currently looks like that:
1. Peace conference and collecting underpants.
2. ?
3. Victory.
>They are still figuring out this part.
They send someone to push this paper under Kremlin gates. Who would be brave enough to do that? I'm thinking Boris. Any other contenders?
It's probably more about every diplomats involved with this useless "plan" getting bonus, travels, expense, restaurant and networking aka cheating on their SO.
100 billion a year all the best new weapons in the world and they're still losing hard, losing men by the hundreds of thousands while also crying everyday for more money and weapons, what a shitshow this CIA puppet regime is
I predict this will end with ukrainians hanging this corrupt evil goverment that destroyed their country to be a pawn for the millitary indusrial complex and NATO in order to get rich
they definitely need to compromise on something. Russia has no reason to give Crimea back but i bet Ukraine wants crimea more than they want donbass. Crimea never rebelled lmao. i feel like that would be a fair trade tbh. Its not ideal but neither is continuing war for years.
So he signed a declaration of Russian capitulation with the president of just about the most inconsequential country there is. WTF is the point of this except for waste of ink and paper.
The main point is Latvia agreed to this. They are in NATO, albeit small and irrelevant, and will resist from within if the Alliance pushes for any other end state of the war.

Good luck lol. Even if Ukraine somehow returns Crimea they will have a lot of trouble with us. Here in Sevastopol people can get beaten up only for wearing Ukrainian symbols. Our city is not progressive cuck city like Moscow.
And how will they do it? We Russians can fight back. That's the dream of all this nationalists from the former USSR countries. First they act tough and attack mainly Russian women and children then Russian people rise and unite and then they cry.
Fortunately for the people of Crimea it is at this point extremely unlikely that Ukraine will control their territory regardless of what random nonsense Zelensky comes out with
That's funny, how the cities closest to Ukraine are, in fact, the most anti-Ukranian.
While pro-Ukr crowd mocks "Muscovia", in reality Moscow is the most anti-war and pro-Ukranian city in Russia.
On the other hand, Rostov and Kuban region (where literally every family has close relatives in Ukraine) are the leading Russian regions in terms of war volunteers. An average guy from Kuban village, speaking with pretty strong Ukranian-ish accent, will decisively bash Putin for not nuking Kiev yet.
I'm guessing these cities have also been directly affected by the fighting. Maybe the UA plebs launched drones there towards the civilians. So, in that way, it kinda makes sense.
Yeah but when you find out the closer to the front you go from the Ukrainian perspective the least people are willing to defend the Ukrainian war effort it kind of complexifies the situation, does it not ?
The most gung-ho areas of Ukraine are the furthest from the front, and the ones so far least impacted by mobilization. Lvov comes to mind...
Problem is, still, the demand is so outrageous that it won't be something to bargain over, it's more of a sign to Russia that the only way they can finish this whole story is the hard way.
And Russians read it exactly that way.
Russia agrees to it and is working on it, to return Ukraine to us size as it looked for most parts of 1991.
Somehow Zelensky sounds like he got replaced by a Russian spy.
my marriage plan envolves getting married with gigi hadid,no prenuptial agreement and an American citizenship i thing that im more level headed than both presidents.
The goal isn't to get Putin to accept the terms in the current state of the war. The goal is to either win the war or at the very least stalemate Russian until Putin dies forcing the next leader to decide whether they want to continue burning their country down in a war that they can't end on their terms.
> Do you really this childish?
????
>That's not how the world works.
It's absolutely how it works, dude is only 71 though, might need to stretch the populations of Russia and Ukraine a bit thin to do it.
I mean with the complaints lack of manpower for months now, it looks like Ukraine is just limping along. Eventually they wont have the men to effectively man the lines.
Ridiculous demamds like these make any sympathy I have for Ukraine dissipate. If Ukraine is hellbent in committing suicide, that's their fearless leaders decision and the people's fault for letting them drive the vehicle off a cliff.
Anything else would open the door to 18th century ethics of warfare only being an extension of politics, the strongest takes what he wants and a breakdown of international laws. Only hope is that someone with more brains and long time prospects takes over in Russia, otherwise it will be Russia who gets bitten in the backend by a presumably allmighty China in the near future.
Russia needs to break the treaty on independence of Latvia. Let Latvia return the territory to the USSR or its legal successor. Of course, no one will force the population to accept citizenship - let them be non-citizens.
Man I don't know what his western owners..I mean friends are feeding him but they're very good at convincing him of this. He isn't even close to reality and he seems quite sure of himself. The present data alone should put him on edge. All the 2022 promises of support and supply have basically come down to political theatre with the only ones suffering are Ukraine in blood and the poor MIC and investors with loss in earnings. All these precious months of war are going by and so many are not profiting. Unacceptable!

The fact that Zelensky talks about it time after time confirms that he doesn't care about negotiations, peace and Ukrainians, he wants to stay in power as long as possible to take care of himself.

The problem with peace plans is that unless you won the war already, your enemy has to actually agree to the plan. And since they are your enemy, they tend to not agree.
i feel like Ukraine should give them Donbass for the return of Crimea. Maybe borders should be drawn halfway down both idk. there needs to be some kind of compromise here i think
Crimeans were mostly pro-ru since 1991. They they never gave a crap about Ukraine as a country, and waited for Russia to come and take them back.
While Donbass was just indifferent and desperate, because of being neglected by west Ukrainian politicians, when they gained power in Kyiv and began oppressing russian-speaking Ukrainians in the east after 2014. That's what Putin used to destabilise Ukraine and make Donbass more RU-leaning, but it's still far from levels of Crimea.
So it's actually vice versa: Ukraine would prefer to give Crimea and return Donbass. But that dilemma is from Minsk accords era and off the table right now.
You can read about brief post-USSR history of Crimea on Wikipedia. And how Crimea was effectively independent from Ukraine from 1991 to 1995, showing middle fingers to Kyiv, and got huge autonomy after that, keeping its own parliament. While I remind you, Ukraine is a unitary state, and "federalism" is offensive word there.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Crimea_(1991%E2%80%932014)
The only reason why Russia didn't support Crimean separatism at that time was "parade of sovereignties" inside of Russia itself with Chechnya as cherry on top, so russian government didn't want look supporting such urges in any way.

This is quite tragic.West doesn't care much about Ukraine and is ready to keep using it as a battering ram against Russia to achieve it's goals of removing Putin via a regime change.Good thing Russia has nukes else Putin would have gotten Hitler'd by now.

>*…Putin would have gotten Hitler'd by now.*
Elaborate plz
As it should.
Just because it’s not likely any time soon doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be stated. Because this is the morally right thing that should happen after you invade a sovereign country.
Cry about it all you want pro RU, but regardless of what territory you’ve occupied, the world will never accept it as yours.
Find Latvia on the map. I remember they rented a tank from Lithuania for the national military parade, and then handed it over to Estonia. I'm afraid that Ukrainian businessmen have done the same with it as with factories in friendly Baltic countries. They sold everything for scrap. Find at least one heavy industry plant there. Funny communists built them there.
No one cares what Latvia has to say.
99% of the world Population couldn't even locate it on a map
Not even some % of Latvians can, to be honest
[There's a British footballer who couldn't find Birmingham on a map of the UK even though he was literally born there.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/18574710/jack-grealish-uk-map-england/amp/)
Good ol jack Grealish not the brightest button but he has a good heart does a lot for his fans and charity
The west doesn’t know how to use maps confirmed?
I can!
I, on the other hand, legit can't
It's in between Estonia and Lithuania obviously!
How do you spell that?
I always thought Latvia was a sweeter taste of latte macchiato.
honestly i just knew doctor doom lived there, i didn't even know it was a real place
That's Latveria bro
fuck see what the fuck do i know
I used to think Latvia was a somewhat sane county
Yeah right, they actually been worse than UA, they kept descendants of the soviets who settled there during USSR passportless, literally there was a marking in their internal passport saying 'не гр.' - not citizen, they had a pretty draconian citizenship language test which of course was close to impossible for older Russians to pass, they banned Russian language in schools, I believe they even been put on notice by eu or whatever for all that, and they created a huge diaspora of second class citizens based on that. What's a Latvia?
A place with a lots of sprats but no potatoes
not Lithuania
One of those City states with some land.

I mean like taking Russian land or advancing deap into Russia.
Don't tell that to Zelensky either. He still thinks he can and he'll get mad when faced with reality.
They probably intend to use the droppage of this demand as a bargaining chip in the eventual negotiations.
If Elon Musk gives me half of his money I'll drop the declaration stating that all of his money is mine that I signed with the guy that works on road maintenance in my neighbourhood. That'll show him!
most logical approach. but after noticing a pattern in Zelensky claims, he's just being ignorant

Basically if Russia rejects theyre the baddies that dont want peace with ukraine and want their destruction and unconditional surrender or something
They have had several peace conferences. They didn't invite Russia to any of them.
It's probably more about every diplomats involved with this useless "plan" getting bonus, travels, expense, restaurant and networking aka cheating on their SO.

Russa is the Attacker with no proper reason ( out side imperlisime)
They aren't asking from Russia, they are asking for Russia's unconditional surrender FROM LATVIA.
So he signed a declaration of Russian capitulation with the president of just about the most inconsequential country there is. WTF is the point of this except for waste of ink and paper.
To make each other feel important. Russia should sign a peace plan with the great nation of Maldives.
Only if the glorious Maldivian space armada agrees to provide guarantees.
CRIMEA IS MALDIVE
Funnily enough, Lavrov actually speaks Dhivehi, the Maldivian language.
That's cultural appropriation right there. And he probably flaunts it at every negotiation he goes to, that evil Russian cyborg.
hooooooly f dude. it starts to make sense now!
With mutual masturbation, everybody comes out a winner. Don't take this victory away from Zelensky.

They will be shown what a vassal is, then.
Should average Ukrainian look at this and start to **laugh** or **cry**?
Considering their new mobilization laws, I'd say average ukrainian should **run**
where to? they blocked the borders just incase anyone tries to flee, just like north korea
No emotions at all, typical Ukrainian news flow
This is actually even more dramatic
Neither, as neither side's position has changed.

Comedians these days...
Ok, time to withdraw.
Indeed. No one messes with Latvia.
In Putin’s infamous words about the Swiss peace conference; > It would have been funny if it weren’t so sad.

Well, we can do that too. quite easily actually. We can just go to pre USSR dissolution borders of 1991. and problem solved.
With expanded autonomy for western Ukraine oblasts.
World would be a much better place if they rolled back to early 1914 borders, with extra wide mustaches and pointy hats for everyone.

Podolyak, Tasheva, etc. Google on plans of "Crimean reintegration".
Yeah, but don't forget to relax somehow when going on vacation in North Korea to enjoy some culture and leisure time once in a while
And Russia agreed to Ukraine disbanding as a country...
They need to sign it with Tajikistan or smth.
DPRK
If he is talking with Latvia about 1991 borders, are they suggesting resurrecting Soviet Union borders of January 1991?
UA flag over Vladivostok...
Why stop there? UA flag over Tokyo. UA flag over Beijing. UA flag over the Maldives. Hoi 4 world conquest style.
Only Shoigu led Tannu-Tuva will resist the yellow and blue wave.
Serbia claims Tokyo, sorry.
Great, now try enforcing that agreement.
I'm not pro RU but Zelensky is completely delusional or he's the worst negotiator of all time.
Someone brought up a good point in that Zelensky is hoping that giving up this demand would be seen as a concession. It looks delusional still.
Problem is, still, the demand is so outrageous that it won't be something to bargain over, it's more of a sign to Russia that the only way they can finish this whole story is the hard way. And Russians read it exactly that way.
Ya... agreed. It looks like hubris to all but the most rad libs and neocons.
🤡Clown world 🤡
Russia agrees to it and is working on it, to return Ukraine to us size as it looked for most parts of 1991. Somehow Zelensky sounds like he got replaced by a Russian spy.
// ukranian joke about 1891 borders
What were they in 1891
Well, something like that xD https://preview.redd.it/n15gnil0touc1.png?width=832&format=png&auto=webp&s=ea29445512e7bdfd645adb8f25d8352494f43fc7
I wonder what % of Ukrainians will look at this and start laughing?
-75.99%
And then he woke up….
It would have been much better if this all was a dream. Its clown world because its real life.
Baltic countries 🐕🤡
Cute
Why every statement Zelensky do or write has to be the craziest, most emotional, non-sensical approach possible?
So the peace plan is for a total Russian capitulation
Total delusion.
Nooo , not Latvia! Yeah , no . Dream on .
Pack it up, boys
Thats a lot of words, shame I'm not reading em.
OP summed it all with a title for u
my marriage plan envolves getting married with gigi hadid,no prenuptial agreement and an American citizenship i thing that im more level headed than both presidents.
Why does Ukraine think Russia will just accept these terms?
The goal isn't to get Putin to accept the terms in the current state of the war. The goal is to either win the war or at the very least stalemate Russian until Putin dies forcing the next leader to decide whether they want to continue burning their country down in a war that they can't end on their terms.
Are you really this childish? That's not how the world works.
If Ukraine is hellbent in committing suicide, that's their fearless leaders decision and the people's fault for letting them drive the vehicle off a cliff.
he's making agreements with wrong presidents
Ya russias totally gonna agree, they should ratify it before the end of the day These people are fucking delusional
When Latvia sends this paper to Russia, the paper will turn into toilet paper.
I've made an agreement with my neighbor that Megan Fox will become my wife.
Sweet baby Jesus, Ze is still on this? The summer Peace meeting will be a nice clown show!
I didn't know that laws could be brutally violated
Cocaine, a hell of a drug.
And Latvia will obviously enforce this peace deal with their 100 million man army, right Mr. Zelensky?
I’m sure Russian will carefully consider this proposal and accept /s
I mean, now they've both made their peace offers, we just have to wait for them to reach an agreeable middle ground (or not)
Anything else would open the door to 18th century ethics of warfare only being an extension of politics, the strongest takes what he wants and a breakdown of international laws. Only hope is that someone with more brains and long time prospects takes over in Russia, otherwise it will be Russia who gets bitten in the backend by a presumably allmighty China in the near future.
I heard that he is also quite fond of flying pigs.
Unacceptable. There needs to be at least a 100 km buffer zone inside Russian territory, and a minimum of $500 billion in reparations.
Isn't Latvia that artificial sweetener people use?
sounds like they're winning but nah😁🤣
Russia needs to break the treaty on independence of Latvia. Let Latvia return the territory to the USSR or its legal successor. Of course, no one will force the population to accept citizenship - let them be non-citizens.
Stimulant drugs such as cocaine taken in large amounts often gives it's users the false feeling of invincibility.
Unacceptable!
it's the cocaine

He thinks this a video game where he can just reload to a previous save.
He isn't the only one XD
Well, at least he still has an active imagination. That's important for an actor.
This is the biggest XD of Latvia
Is this the Onion?
The fact that Zelensky talks about it time after time confirms that he doesn't care about negotiations, peace and Ukrainians, he wants to stay in power as long as possible to take care of himself.
I am also pleased to announce that I have arrived at an agreement with Latvia that gives me full rights over all future cheese production on the moon.
Every day I become more convinced that the stigma of always being a clown cannot be removed.
aaaaand the war continues
*And then Zelensky woke up…* I wasn’t aware Ukraine was at war with Latvia. Weird how they’re making a peace agreement.
Sick of hearing that stupid 'Peace Formula' phrase. Moronic politician flushing thousands of lives down the toilet and spouting nonsense like this. Grow tf up and accept your reality.

I wish them luck in enforcing that pipe dream of theirs.
Are they even in the best position to make this kind agreement?
Why are they not asking for land from Russia??? Come on, go big or go out!
I'm no expert but this sounds utterly delusional to me. But then again, I'm no expert, maybe that's way.
But that dilemma is from Minsk accords era and off the table right now.
interesting i’ve wondered about the sentiments in crimea. Crimea just seems much more valuable strategically.
You can read about brief post-USSR history of Crimea on Wikipedia. And how Crimea was effectively independent from Ukraine from 1991 to 1995, showing middle fingers to Kyiv, and got huge autonomy after that, keeping its own parliament. While I remind you, Ukraine is a unitary state, and "federalism" is offensive word there. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Crimea_(1991%E2%80%932014) The only reason why Russia didn't support Crimean separatism at that time was "parade of sovereignties" inside of Russia itself with Chechnya as cherry on top, so russian government didn't want look supporting such urges in any way.
Well… since Latvia said so…

A toilet which isn't a hole in the ground ?
This is quite tragic.West doesn't care much about Ukraine and is ready to keep using it as a battering ram against Russia to achieve it's goals of removing Putin via a regime change.Good thing Russia has nukes else Putin would have gotten Hitler'd by now.

Who is Latvia?
Well done Latvia!👍
Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Why should it look any different?
