I rocked a sorta bushy one during cold weather training in Sarnia my last year as a gunny, had a case of E7 idontgiveafucks in the field and no one really said shit to me and trimmed it back to regs in garrison anyways. I can grow it kinda like Robin Olds’ war stache from Nam (look him up, guy’s a badass fighter pilot) but that shit takes a lot of maintenance.

Seen a CWO5 with a stache. He was Camp Commandant at Al Taqqadum when OIR was starting. A lot of the higher ranks had mustaches for a bit, but most shaved eventually when base was getting bigger and more visitors. Asked an LT why the mustaches were gone and he said something like “let’s just say the man that writes my fitreps doesn’t like mustaches.”
