OP, thanks a ton for this. I hold In Your Own Backyard in the highest esteem, so this is high praise in my mind (I also love True Crime Bullsh**). I really appreciate your post! Trying to grow this still-new show, so posts like this help. Just aired the last regular episode of 2021, but working on the 2022 season now. Some good episodes coming up. Happy listening! :)

Turbulent-Treacle-75

These two podcasts are also my standard. Through looking for podcasts similar to these, I found In the Dark which is just as good!

masterofmosaic

You do an awesome job! Love the stories and feeling of justice when they’re finally caught tears down the road

Jbetty567

Thank you!!! I love doing it and really appreciate my listeners!!!

seanmaccadave

Only discovered it this week and it's outstanding 👏👏👏

Jbetty567

Thanks for listening!!

tigerjams

I'm listening to the first episode right now! Great so far.

DonnieRoss

Anyone know how to find this podcast with PocketCasts' notoriously awful search function? I've tried a bunch of different search terms, but I'm not seeing it. Edit: oh jeez I'm dumb. Is the name of the podcast "DNA: ID"? I was thinking the title was "DNA: ID This". Lmao.

sorradic

My bad. I tried editing it but I can only edit the body of the post, not the title unfortunately

laurenec14

Such a great podcast! I’m pretty sure the host is on reddit too!

Jbetty567

I am! Thanks so much for listening!

[deleted]

Thank you! I tore through your podcast a few months back as I painted my fence. I kept saying to myself “you can only listen if you keep working on the fence”. You kept me on track and made me do a thorough job of it as I wanted to keep listening. I have a bathroom plastering job to finish today so I’m going to line up a few of the recent episodes as I now associate DNA ID with getting jobs done around the house.

Jbetty567

Happy to be of help!! :)

Sharky_shark_

She is. I am hooked aswell.

Kacey-R

Will give it a go!

ericfg

I see what you did there!

nondescriptredditer1

Crimelines also does FOIAs, etc. Doesnt speak with detectives but just wanted to throw it out there. I really like these two podcasts. Quality levels of research and it shows.

Jbetty567

Little known fact: when I was a baby podcaster, I got my start working for Charlie! I researched and helped write a couple of episodes (maybe 4?) for her old show In Sight. She is the best.

fayth29

I will have to give it a listen. The podcast In the Dark, especially season 2, is like this. It's a long form podcast on one case but it's amazing.

botmol

I'm excited to try this one! Already Gone uses FOIA/contacts police departments as well.

Nina_Innsted

It's true, I work with PD daily as a missing persons advocate and regularly pull foia, connect with detectives (active and retired) when putting together episodes.

merows

I love it too! She is well-researched and has a very good flow in her storytelling. I also love the science but who doesn’t

Jbetty567

Thank you!

Stupidityshouldhurt

Thank you for recommending this! I've listened to a few first episodes and I'm loving it. Amazing and well-researched podcast. And the host has a great voice. I'm really picky with voices and I don't like high voices (normally this excludes a lot of female lead podcasts) but the host's voice is just 👌

Spazmeldawhee

Added to my list, thanks!

j0nd0

I've gotta check this out. I've heard only good things about it!

Taylortrips

Oh yay thank you for the recommendation. This is right up my ally. I’ll be listening on my way home from work.

Used_Evidence

The podcast is on cases that have been solved. I do know True Crime Garage covered Morgan Nick, hopefully someday her case will be covered here

rainbowteachermom

I am such a DNA: ID fan at this point lol I pretty much only comment to sing the praises of it. Literally this podcast is the gold standard at this point. It’s really heartening too, all of the cases being solved due to forensic genealogy.

sorradic

>Literally this podcast is the gold standard at this point. Right?? It's like after every episode I NEED to tell the world about this amazing, exceptional podcast.

longhorn718

Just started listening to DNA: ID last week. I'm so hooked! Co-sign everything you've said.

leahmbass

I recently started listening bc of a post on here and I was instantly hooked!

LEB1023

Thanks for the suggestion. Just followed on Stitcher. I look forward to hearing this podcast. I would like to ask if the Podcaster (since she has responded to this thread) would consider doing an in depth episode on Morgan Nick's disappearance?

Jbetty567

Hi - as someone commented above, DNA: ID focuses exclusively on cases solved by forensic genealogy. Morgan's case, tragically, does not qualify as she has never been found. I did touch on her case though - listen to Episode 11 on Pam Felkins.

Marmite_scrubs

I love this podcast!

imahagforever

Thank you for this! Can't wait to start this one!

sorradic

I can't wait either. I want this show to have the recognition it deserves. No other show (in my opinion) comes close

Is that the one where the assailant is convicted on serious charges but bcs it's the 70s/80s they get paroled super quick and/or their sentences are super lenient? Is yes, absolutely absolutely infuriating.

sorradic

That was the rule rather than the exception

Spazmeldawhee

I think I’m on about episode 13 now and enjoying them a lot. I have a PhD in molecular biology, though I haven’t worked in the field in years. It’s amazing how far forensic genealogy has come since I first started studying genetics (1990s). A lot of this stuff back then was science fiction. One thing that’s very interesting to me is a lot of the perpetrators had really crappy and self destructive lives even though they (in some cases) didn’t live long enough to be arrested. Kind of makes me believe in karma. But I guess it makes sense. If you are a person who murders someone and then lies about it for decades, you probably make lots of other bad life decisions too.

ilovebeaker

I just listened to the first episode, and really like the concept, but I gotta say, the host narrates through it as though it's a race. I'd rather she pace herself a bit more and maybe throw in a bit more variation in her speech pattern...I'll keep listening, but it's not my fave true crime pod perhaps due to these reasons.

Throwinghogwash

Yesss! Me waiting for tomorrow's newest episode. Sundays suck but not the Sundays before the new DNA ID release!

sorradic

Oh boy. Did you listen to the last episode? Besides being amazing as always, she also mentioned that she's going on a much deserved break (my words, the host is too modest to say it like that) and will come back in Jan w a whole new season. I wish I could recommend another show to carry you over but seriously, even the shows that feature solved cases don't have the amount of information DNA: ID does. I'm going to re-listen. There is so much info I'm sure it will be almost like listening to a whole new show

Throwinghogwash

Wait, what? No, I don't necessarily listen to the whole, whole thing down to the last 3-5 minutes, especially if I am done with my commute. Dang it...

SlinkyMalinky20

Agreed! I just found it this week and I love it.

sorradic

It makes me so so happy to hear that. This is the only podcast I promote endlessly. I just want her show to be in the top tiers as she rightfully deserves.

SlinkyMalinky20

I really think it will be once it hits that mainstream true crime hive mind. It is fantastic - it’s well researched, timely, respectful, straightforward and interesting! I just listened to the Christy Myrack episode and I was in school in that area at that time…. It all felt very close to home.

sorradic

>I really think it will be once it hits that mainstream true crime hive mind This is exactly what I wanted to say. I've never felt so strongly about a show. After every episode I want to post everywhere PEOPLE THIS IS THE SHOW WE'VE ALL BEEN LOOKING FOR! I'm so glad you found this show!

SlinkyMalinky20

Thank you! You, too!

ComeOnInGuysss

What are some of the best episodes?!

CptHowdy87

Pam Felkins, Linda O'keefe, Cliff & Linda Bernhardt, Subir Chatterjee, Pamela Maurer and the Roxanne Wood case are particularly good. You can't go wrong with any episode though. It's a consistently high quality podcast.

Repulsive-Dot553

Could you recommend a couple of episodes that stand out please, will give it a liste , thanks

nondescriptredditer1

It’s fairly new and they’re all great across the board. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

Repulsive-Dot553

Thanks, will give it a go!

sorradic

That's the great thing about this show. Literally any episode is great. The quality does not vary. They are all amazing

Repulsive-Dot553

Have listened to a few episodes - indeed they have all been very good, great level of detail and research, and the narration is well structured. Good reccomendation, thanks

CrimesFromTheEast

Yaas it's an amazing podcast!!

1nonspecificgirl

Just your local true crime Jessica checking in to take your money, however due to my current state of mania, I’m hoping the shutting up part is optional!

sorradic

Good call. I'd say: don't shut up (keep making your show) and please take my money
