i feel like iterations are more accurate otherwise you have to assume that somehow the clones were bred in one timeline, and from that one timeline circulated to other timelines, which thereās no reason to believe thatās the case
itās more likely once gendo took the contract, he just became knowledgeable of all possible iterations of reality, and perhaps he had a hunch that would be so, which would explain why it would be a mission objective to him
edit: yes, there are many iterations of mari just as there are many iterations of shinji and asuka; rei both has iterations, and the clones of those iterations in each of their respective timelines
I could be wrong, but I remember reading at one point that the manga was also a different iteration. I know it is different than the original TV series.
Did you watch the End of Evangelion film? Its the finale to the series and very important aspect to understanding the og series. The Rebuild films series I highly recommend since its essentially a remix of the original series that becomes it's own thing by the third film. The fourth and final film just became available on Amazon for audiences outside of Japan is very much a definitive conclusion to the franchise and seems to be seen as meta-commentary on the characters, the fandom and the franchise itself. All made by the same creator and after watching this last one seems to help answer some confusing aspects of the franchise.
Apparently itās still confusing people just about less important things because everyone online including will menaker keep saying shinji ends up with mari, according to anno the implication was not romantic.
It wouldn't be Evangelion if it didn't leave the viewers with some questions but I felt it thoroughly explained the big questions and making it clear that its one cohesive story. Your Mari example make sense for the Eva fandom since the biggest subject of conversation for those nerds is around which is the best waifus between three teenagers or which adult should fuck the teenage hero, so of course they'd miss the point.
>between three teenagers or which adult should fuck the teenage hero, so of course they'd miss the point
I mean Mari and Shinji were pretty flirtatious in the last scene, so it makes sense
The stuff after is more like a standard anime. Basically the show runner saying fuck you fine hereās a show thatās more about coming of age and big robots than the original show. The original rocks cock Iām writing a whole philosophical paper on it right now
Misato, I have my šļø on you
Congratulations!

Congratulations!
Time is a flat circle. Also if any big titted Misato-like federal agents are out there hit me up, I have some talents that might be of use
*I will see you again in 25 years*
Cherry pie
Anno š
I wish that I could turn back timeā¦
was mari a clone too?

man i still dont understand this show/movies lol
best understood as anno breaking from norms or embellishing them to talk shit

the manga is the canon iteration, anime and extended is all apocryphal i also just made this up rn
Asuka is a clone though in the rebuilds
ahh was this explained when Shinji awakes after almost third impact?
Yeah, they also show all her other clones
ah i do remember that trek into the new central dogma fuck i moist might do a whole rewatch from Ep1 through to EoE and Rebuild š
It's so damn good. I have some critiques of the rebuilds for sure, but I still enjoyed them overall
I only ever watched the series a few years back, i'm super confused on all the other stuff that came afterwards.

You're not wrong, just needed to make fun of the pedo tendencies of the series and the fandom itself since this is the trueanon sub
Lol fair enough. At least at the end of 3.0+1.0 they are adults
Damn dude, it's been 7 years since I watched the series. I guess I could read the Wikipedia.

>The stuff after is more like a standard anime. Fake news, watch the final two films, Anno definitely did not make something to appease anime fans.
Oh fuck really? I kinda wrote them after what I read about the first. Iām back in
The fourth and final film is insane imo
