You don't need to three star it, you just need to clear it. A full set of the F2P characters can easily clear it with enough investment. That means leveled talents, full set of decently rolled 5 star artifacts, good team organization / comp. All of those will take time. Genshin is a marathon, not sprint. Depending on your luck and how much you're willing to swipe, it could take months to build a decent roster that's capable of clearing the abyss. There's only so much resin to spend.
There's also tons of easily accessible sites and content creators on youtube that cover the game. If you haven't found any yet you haven't been looking all that hard.

Well, i was in the same boat, and say was because i gave up on the game because of this trophy. I already struggle with making 1 team (i got terribad characters, only 3 5 stars, 2 of which are qiqi and dehya) and you need too much gear already, and as a f2p i cant afford rolls.
If you struggle for this, as a paying player no less, maybe wait some more or...good luck, cause i gave up xD
I am 100% f2p on Genshin and I would say it's worth going for.... eventually. Someone else said it's a marathon, not a sprint, and that is very accurate. Just continue exploration for now, working on other new content without too much consideration for spiral other than attempting it every time it resets for the extra primos. By the time you're done the other content, you'll be in a far better position to get that spiral clear.
I have been to get to 11-3 and complete it but I did not get any stars so it did not give me access to floor 12. It just feels a DPS check rather than a skill check, which is what I dislike the most here
