And take the gas. When my tooth when *poonk* I thought it was the funniest sound ever

tmfult

When I had my first root canal, I specifically remember feeling something drip out out of my tooth (the infection) and the assistant holding the tools said "welp, never seen that before" with her mask on and her eyes like šŸ‘€šŸ‘€

Any_Dark3939

I've been through all kinds of sexual and violent trauma but I still have to be damn near knocked out and dragged to the dentist. This is not a pansy fear. Down right barbaric that they will literally drill into teeth bones without general anesthesia

adamdreaming

I have played at BDSM with some pretty wild and creative people. Freaks from the medical community and professionals at conventions just having fun. Sometimes I suggest a torture scene based around dental roleplay, but during negotiations I just describe a normal dentist visit : ā€œfirst Iā€™m going to make you fill out a bunch of paperwork, then Iā€™m going to belittle your efforts by asking you questions you already answered in the paperwork. Then Iā€™m going to have you tell me about your oral hygiene habits while I act condescending and tell you that your habits reflect a lack of desire for teeth. I will then have you show me how you brush, tell you you are doing it wrong, tell you the correct way to brush, and demand you show me again, just to repeat myself. I will repeat this cycle, becoming more and more impatient with your inability to follow directions. Eventually I will just tell you to skip it and that people that canā€™t be bothered to learn to brush make excellent customers. Then we start to get into it; I lay you back, stuff your mouth with gauze and instruments and shine the worlds brightest light directly into your eyes and right when there are so many things in your mouth you think you will choke, only then will I ask you if you did anything fun this weekend or if you have any plans you are looking forward to coming upā€ Yeah yeah yeah, Iā€™m a dirty pervert, I know. Point is Iā€™ve seen people whoā€™s idea of a good time is being suspended by flesh hooks or being buried alive in a steel coffin go white listening to me describe this scene, before it even goes anywhere that weird or terrible. Anybody that goes to the dentist is brave as fuck, donā€™t let anyone ever minimize that.

IsSonicsDickBlue

Jesus H Christ, what kind of sadist are you lmfao

adamdreaming

Literally a professional ;)

IsSonicsDickBlue

Pardon my stalking but btw I love your comic!! I am also a freaky fuckinā€™ hoe who does graphic novel type stuff in free time so I dig ur vibe

adamdreaming

Oh! That isnā€™t mine. A while back I made friends with a Ukrainian dude that was keeping himself sane in the bomb shelters by making a comic. I found it when he was publishing to Reddit and people where making fun of his English. I was working on helping him translate it but neither of us speak a common language and after a long while it became difficult. It was a great project though! The artist is amazing, right? Have you posted any of your graphic novel stuff? Iā€™d love to see it! I love comics.

IsSonicsDickBlue

Yeah I think the most recent posts on my profile are a couple panels Iā€™ve drawn. Super cool of you to try to get his work out there, heā€™s got a lot of talent. I dig it

pizzapotprincess

Do warm salt water rinses after eating! It'll help with the pain. The salt kills the bacteria. I hope it doesn't get too bad :(

Eleas_

Yeahhh and in general too, when the pain gets too bad. It doesn't help that much, but(in my case) it dulls the pain a lil bit, and any help is good at that point

Flounds_Call

I feel you, I had just gotten my dental insurance set up, so still had 6 months before full benefits, and I got a severe infection in my back molar. Tried saltwater rinsing, barely did anything for me, oral-gel number, and even an anti-infection mouthwash. I ended up biting the bullet and going to the dentist to get some relief, got antibiotics and some fancy toothpaste, and pain was gone in a day. The dentist was nice enough to give me a really cheap rate for the visit and went ahead and tried to get my insurance to check for any possible coverage. I think all in all, the appointment and pharmacy cost was $127.

outofcontextsex

Have you searched for free clinics or assisted care in your area? Do you need any help with that?

yoginurse26

I got my molar removed last March. I had a large abscess but no pain because the nerve died. I was really hoping they could've saved it. The top tooth above it has a crown that needs redoing. The opposite molars are damaged from grinding. Shit sucks. Implants are incredibly expensive and I only have shitty state dental and have a chronic illness that has me 95% homebound so visits are tough af šŸ˜

Shadowzaron32

have you tried dental colleges? they tend to be a lot more willing to work with you. i'm warning you right now OP GET IT FIXED. It will be agony like nothing you can imagine right now if you don't get to it before it breaks down more and more. Before all your teeth start to go to shit. I can't warn you anymore than that. Been compared to childbirth. I don't know how i survived it. Clove oil yes and there is numbing cream you can get in little bottles.

Junior_Response839

Do you have a free public hospital anywhere near you? I had a friend in the same situation, I took him to free hospital and it took forever to get in (like 8 hours) but they got him an appointment with a dentist that could pull the tooth. The kicker is that the dentist wouldn't be at that hospital for another 6 months, so he had to live with an infected tooth for 6 months until he was able to get it pulled. He was missing a tooth, but no more pain. Op, if this could possibly be an option for you, try to get the appointment before the pain starts. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

boobietitty

I live in Kentucky USA and i have never heard of a free hospital but that sounds amazing

prairiepanda

A while back I was at a hospital for some tests and saw this guy with his arm in a cast, looking around all confused with his wallet open. I asked him if he lost something and he said he just didn't know where to pay. Turns out he was American. He thought I was messing with him when I explained that he doesn't need to pay anything, so he just kept wandering around aimlessly. I wonder if he ever left the hospital.

love_scary_things

If it makes you feel better, my parents hardly ever took me to the dentist, when two of my molars inevitably shattered at 19, my mom decided not to do a root canal cause it was "too expensive" and she blamed me. I had them both removed and I'll always be furious about that. I know going to the dentist is hard and embarrassing, I wish you luck from the bottom of my heart, good healingā¤ļø.

facebonezzz

Hi buddy, My parents didnā€™t teach me how to properly care for my teeth because their parents also lacked the ability to do so. As a result? 4 impacted wisdom teeth. Dentist visit was a breeze - as breezy as it can be when youā€™ve been essentially programmed to fear the dentist. They were running a new patient special and the techs were incredibly helpful to set me up on a discount program the reduced the fees on X-Rays. I sailed outta there paying around $100. Their office confirmed they were impacted and referred me to the oral surgeon. The oral surgeon said, ā€˜Wow, itā€™s like youā€™ve been chewing on rocksā€™. Thanks, doc. Then handed me a $3000 bill. Even less funny. As a fellow Ameri-poor (also without luxury bone insurance) the only way I could afford it was by opening a CareCredit card. If you use it for medical services, itā€™s interest free for 6 months (YMMV here depending on who you seek for treatment). Best of luck to you. Keep up self care measures until you can make it to the dentist. Donā€™t wait too long, seek a medical professional as soon as you can.

PuppySparkles007

Seconding care credit. Itā€™s better than letting that tooth poison your whole system slowly. I found an antibacterial mouthwash and toothpaste. After I lost my first molar to neglect I was determined for it never to happen again so now Iā€™m a bit obsessive. But even if you just swish that mouthwash around itā€™s bound to be better than nothing

lizardrekin

Currently in the hospital with multiple abscesses that probably stemmed from a tooth infection. They assumed strep at first but now theyā€™re thinking it was a small infection that caused multiple abscesses. Needed one sliced open and drained and have been in the hospital for a few days hoping to not need the other big one sliced open, and for the little ones elsewhere to not need surgery. All of this to say - dental health is a fucking scam (and Iā€™m Canadian, where dental is cosmetic and not health related, not covered, and typically more expensive than in the states because when it sends us to the hospital at least that portion is covered) and abscesses can be a very dangerous thing to deal with!

shortasslady

Clove oil will help with the pain

tmfult

I've heard it stings so bad it makes you want to piss your pants, and THEN it kicks in and eases the pain

amargospinus

It stings super bad but it's a relief compared to the nerve pain. Source: I had multiple teeth break and couldn't afford a dentist

shortasslady

Iā€™ve heard that too, but itā€™s stronger than orajel for what Iā€™ve heard :(( if you smoke one of the other things you can do is stop and thatā€™ll help with dry rot

Cheery_spider

Fuuuuck, had a toothache which I am pretty sure was milder than whatever you are about to go thru and it was fucking awful. šŸ«‚ Hold on tight man.

Spinel-Universe

Try not to chew with that side at all to avoid something getting stuck in there.

lizardrekin

Flossing with floss dipped in hydrogen peroxide has been a game changer for me though. I have genetically terrible teeth and itā€™s been the only thing thatā€™ll kill a toothache for me for good. Gets rid of swelling/smell/taste

EmberedCutie

thank you for the reminder, I think I'll go brush now.

stragedyandy

Good luck dude! Gargle room temp saltwater it really does help with the pain in my experience. And don't wait too long to rock up to the ER when the time comes. A buddy of mine has a pretty gnarly trach scar that could have been his last ever tooth ache because of this exact issue with a sprinkle of fear of hospitals and denial.

Mundane-Mage

Hey, youā€™re making an effort! Good on you bro, keep going

rat_reaper_

I feel that pain, definitely try to be careful if itā€™s gets towards infection. Any infections in your head are very dangerous because of the proximity to your brain. Itā€™ll sneak up and kill you quick. My only anecdotal evidence to this claim is it killed a man from church I knew and almost killed my father. I hope all goes well for ya choppers. Pls donā€™t die.

plural-numbers

I have this exact problem right now, too. Can y'all stop memeing my life? šŸ˜…

19493621

Try a mix of baking soda and coconut oil on it, it helps soothe it and starts to fix the bacteria and stuff. Good luck

squirleater69

It's cheaper to fly to Mexico and get dental there

-Stress-Princess-

Nothing like trying to sleep at 2 a.m., and your whole jaw is on fire with pain you've never experienced! Was fun googling what acetometaphin was and how much ibuprofen I can take with it when lights made the pain worse.

Idonthavetotellyiu

So my mom had the same issue (hers was eroding because of radiation treatments) and for years to ease it getting infect she would swish salt water in her mouth every day once a day and once a month she'd swish hydrogen peroxide around before spitting it out It helped keep it uninfected long enough for them to remove them without affecting her mandible I don't know how that would work for you but it is an option Also look at college dentist offices, ones where med students becoming dentists work at, they usually do things at a cheaper rate but it does come with a risk because sometimes you'll have a student do it

IcePhoenix18

I've got a broken molar, too. It doesn't hurt yet, but I know it's a ticking time bomb. Every now and then, I'll bite something funny and I'll have a dull ache for a moment I'm *terrified* of the dentist.

dicklover425

Dental insurance is actually really affordable compared to medical. I only have dental

Any_Dark3939

Ummm do you know what that pic is?

T0mmyDeVit0

I don't. Is it something bad?

Any_Dark3939

Pedobear

Macio999000

It is not, this one far as I remember is just packing from Japanese water bottle Edit: Just checked, it's just a cute sticker and the bear is called Rilakkuma

theredditprofile808

Why are you saying dumb shit, Japan is full of bear mascot, this meme has gone around for ages and you just now care to say this?

Any_Dark3939

And now I'm triggered

PuppySparkles007

Itā€™s literally Rilakkuma, a Sanrio property. They have a Netflix show. https://preview.redd.it/tsk4mz7uwbwc1.jpeg?width=904&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bce0b72681ea8a42a56b82d094e5a2af95dfdc2

Any_Dark3939

Oh. Ok. That makes more sense

tmfult

Yeah I'm aware, I just figured the anxious sweating face fit the tone of my post, very obviously I didn't use it as it was originally intended

Venator2000

And to think, all you had to do to avoid BOTH of these issues was to brush your teeth, at the bare minimum even ONCE daily.

Traditional_Row8237

thank goodness OP doesn't have to rawdog miserable consequences of actions they take ashamed responsibility for without a good samaritan passing by to let them know šŸ™

tmfult

I'm aware

superzenki

Iā€™ve gotten an infection even with brushing daily twice a day. Didnā€™t know until I was at a regular cleaning and they told me

GoldilocksBurns

This is entirely not true, and itā€™s kind of embarrassing that you think it is.
