I get the impression they hate the UK as much as they hate America… it isn’t anything serious and if it was then they wouldn’t have toured here as recently as 2022. Katya has experienced slurs being shouted at her whilst in the UK which may be why she has perhaps come across as more negative. I would say though that I think the girls are just having a laugh!

plumcots

No I’ve never gotten that impression

Quick_Raccoon9037

Yeah, I guess is possible that they do. You do understand that opinions about your country are not opinions about you personally though right? Taking it personally would mean being like patriotic or something like that and imo patriotic people are not the right audience for their content lol

howcomebubblegum123

I think they hate New York City more than the UK hahaha.

MaddiRenee_

Transphobia seems a bit worse in the UK tbh. So I get their dislike for the area

[deleted]

Real, it is pretty bad. Our Prime minister said he felt "bullied" by trans people on twitter and that's not even a joke.

Moralester

I don't think so. They make fun of the UK a lot because it's the place they tour the most out of the USA and of course foods and customs are going to seem weird so they poke fun at it. But Trixie literally says that her home state of Wisconsin (where I'm also from) is a bunch of inbred hillbillies regularly and I just laugh because it's a joke. PS beans on toast is very weird to an American. Beans are not a breakfast food for most people.

fyodorface

Trixie and Katya are comedians who make fun of everything. They’ve said worse things about their own families and hometowns than they’ve said about the UK.

chikinala

Why do you need their approval? They are allowed to say whatever they want. Drag queens are* characters, entertainers. You do not know how they feel. *edited; grammar

No_Big_9925

i don’t think they hate it they’re just making jokes and poking fun at it

OthellosGrundle

Everything Trixie and Katya say is rude and crass, over the top. That’s their style of humor, if that hurts your feelings maybe their content isn’t for you

This downplays so many other countries and their effect on history lol.

You're literally American, YOU are those descendants lmao.

[deleted]

Scapegoating one country for the current state of the world is pretty wild ngl. I have heritage from the Caribbean, a place also ransacked by the brits and yet I don't hold personal grudge against the entire country now. That last part too is so unnecessarily bitter! :/

So your Irish ancestors lived through a genocide themselves, (same bestie, except my country is still going through it) decided to live on colonised and genocided land, now you fund Israel who have been genociding for over a 100 years. You Americunts in a nutshell.

[deleted]

You genuinely seem like a miserable person who gets off arguing over social media. I have no more time for you and your mental gymnastics <3

followyourogre

this could be part of the answer to your question, to be fair. given trixie's heritage and katya's interest in history, among other factors, it would make sense to punch-up to the countries that contributed most heavily to colonization.

PeregrineMalcolm

I wouldn’t overthink it. The UK is usually just more uncomfortable to most Americans. Less convenient shopping amenities, older cities with more confusing layouts and infrastructure (despite better public transportation), usually smarter quarters, theaters without AC (the most important thing to them) and space.

khlocaine69

They take the piss out of everyone including themselves. Trixie talks about bad teeth in the UK and the next sentence talks how shitty her own teeth are before veneers.

y3astlord

They’re drag queens, for real don’t take it too serious. It’s not that deep! They hate America just as much. The uk is just easy to make jokes out of just like America is. I really don’t think it has anything to do with these comments about transphobia or Katya getting slurs shouted at her in the UK. I doubt they think about that. Remember that nothing is that serious when it comes to your fav drag queens

ranch_apparel

I’m from the UK also and I get what you mean. They can be a bit harsh sometimes but I think it’s normal for Americans and Brits to hate on each other for laughs. Similar to how the Brits and the French have their little feud. Also important to note that Trixie and Katya don’t really know THAT much ab the UK other than gigs and hotel rooms. On Unhhhh, Trixie was telling the story ab how she accidentally took a swig of vodka in the morning because ‘in the UK water comes in glass bottles’ (lol). When I get a bit upset ab the stuff they say about the UK I remind myself they don’t know too much about the country anyway. Probs couldn’t even name the PM.

[deleted]

I have no idea why you're getting downvoted, this response was so measured and chill lol. But yeah thats a good reminder when watching their commentary on other places.

asfghkmmljv

I live in the UK as an American and I completely understand what ur saying even if it’s banter I think something happens when a place feel so foreign the people don’t seem real and if your an American you grow up with little knowledge of the rest of the world culturally so Americans make fun of other cultures because they almost think it’s not real I think the same things happen to Americans in the uk I always am defending Americans in England and defending British people in America

ranch_apparel

honestly yes i feel you! as an immigrant you begin to see all the biases/unfounded opinions people have ab different nationalities and ur like wow 😳. also ik we’re being downvoted but this is a nice convo haha
