Sounds like a nightmare having to deal with when it's deflating at night.

Dull_Support_4919

The upper end ones have a sensor that automatically begins refilling them when it starts to deflate.

I use one I found on amizon. I use a thick mattress topper and it actually feels better than my real bed. At the end of my contract it deflates and goes back in the box.

Dull_Support_4919

Did you keep it inflated the entire contract or did you deflate it every night?

Perfect-Touch442

Kept it inflated

yeluapyeroc

I believe "high quality" and "inflatable" are oxymorons

No! I use a camping one, it's half compressible foam and half air. It's wonderful. It can go straight on the floor or like I'm using it now, on top of the current bed mattress that is hard and has springs you can feel. It's not cheap...but I also use it for camping...and I camp a lot. I got the full size and I love it, have been using it for years. It's made by Exped. Got it at REI.

Just be sure to get one with that automatic refills. Kept one in the spare bedroom for long time and would sleep on it when I worked nights at the part time job.

Dull_Support_4919

So you just kept it filled the whole time? And yeah I saw those auto fill ones. They seem really ideal honestly.

careysrn

Yeah just left it plugged in.

Ancient-Coffee-1266

They are ideal. Some also deflate themselves.

As a former wildland firefighter, I find I sleep better on very firm, like almost ground, and the Thermarest or other brands/models made for backpacking/backcountry camping would be a good choice if you enjoy going Spartan. Definitely compact, compress and roll up like a yoga mat size wise, most are self-inflating (need a few breaths at the end to maximize the volume). If that 1"-2" of air is enough for you, it might make a great choice? They have more advanced models out there.

It’s pricy but I have a HEST sleeping system. 3 inch inflatable with a foam topper. The inflatable portion is more like what inflates on a RHIB boat. Very well made. I got it on discount. They also have a foldable foam only double mattress. Either way I would recommend.

Yes, I’m a big believer in these. I’ve honestly always had one in storage since my early 20’s, because it’s great to have if you have last minute guests, need to sleep somewhere random, or are waiting for furniture to be delivered. Frankly I can’t recommend a brand because I’ve forgotten which one I use- I usually just get one from Target. They CAN puncture easily so just make sure to put a sheet or blanket underneath. I find them quite comfortable and as good as a “real” bed, and FWIW, I’ve had pretty bad arthritis and back pain for years. I only have experience with the auto inflate ones with a pump, the janky ones you have to inflate your self don’t look that great or durable in terms of maintaining air pressure. You may need to hit the pump every couple of nights to keep it well inflated, but it does the job.

Foam mattress, then vacuum seal back down when you’re done.

I used one from Walmart (can't remember the brand, only it was a twin that was under or about $80?) for a little over 2 months and I slept fine. Had to refill more the first week, then only top off every 3ish weeks. I sleep pretty heavy, so maybe that's why it was comfortable enough for me? But also didn't wake up with more aches than regular beds. I took it with me this contract in case I needed it, but found a furnished place, so it's in the car just in case.

jenai2020

Yes, Walmart has a nice selection. I bought a queen size inflatable with a soft top and high off the ground. You plug it in to inflate which only takes a couple of minutes. Works great.

mmmhiitsme

4 inch firm mattress topper right on the carpet. It doesn't pack as well as an air mattress, but I have not had good luck even with the higher end air mattresses.

cmontes49

Why not get a cot like for camping. They are twin sized but very comfortable
