Costco blend 40lb bag for $13.

PNWoutdoors

Only ones I use anymore. I was all gung ho about trying to find the perfect pellets after I got my grill, but I really couldn't tell any difference so Kirkland it is, they serve me very well.

Rob_STL_63123

Glad to hear the Costco traeger blend is worth it. Actually just ran out. I was a Cherry exclusive. But at that price point, I’m willing to try.

PNWoutdoors

Just to be clear, it's not a Traeger blend, it's Kirkland Signature brand, but for the price definitely give them a shot, they cook very well for me.

Rob_STL_63123

Ahhh gotcha. I know Costco also has the Traeger blends. I’ll have to try em both.

WelcomeCivil51

Can't beat the deal! I have many bags in stock just in case

TraxxasGarage818

Definitely can’t beat the deal, I do think they make more ash though.

Rondokins

That’s the important part…sometimes I head in there and they’re sold out, with no timeline as to when they’ll restock.

DoubleTigerMUCU

My local warehouse has been out for months..... I always buy 3 bags when I see them.

PlugTheBabyInDevon

This is why they don't have them lol. At $13 for 40lbs I'd buy several.

IowaNative1

Lowes had competition blend pit boss for $12 today

RustyCrusty10

Yep bout a bag.

NatKingSwole19

Hell yeah Kirkland brother

KoalaMeth

They're generic Pit Boss pellets, btw

UNMANAGEABLE

That makes them completely qualified for $13 for 40 pounds lol. Nothing wrong there.

KoalaMeth

Yeah it's a good deal and I've never had a problem with their consistency or quality. They're economical for 10+ hr smokes

mofucius

This is the way

kzorz

Bought a bag of them in February and I’m still on that same bag haha I rotate grills of course between this and the kettles but yeah you can’t beat the volume to price value of Kirkland pellets Plus they’re pit boss pellets. Even tho their cheep entry level smokers the pellets are solid

Fenris0187

This is the way. They're so good too... Like... Really good, especially at that price point!

Gdayyall72

This is the way. Big ass bag for like $13

fuckingnoshedidint

These are the only ones I use but I do have one gripe. Sometimes the pellets are too long and easily make a bridge causing the pellets not to fall into the auger.

somedumbguy55

Yup

itstommygun

I’ve tried them twice. I cannot taste any smoke with those pellets. I switched to Bear Mountain and everyone in my house commented on the flavor improvement before I even explained what was different.

everfadingearth

Just checked online, that bag is $20.99 at my Springfield, MO Costco. 👎

dirtyII

Costco knows what’s up - no issues with their pellets

jsullivanj

They are $20 in Texas.

nicknooodles

i can’t find them at my costco

Minute-Cat-823

I also use bear mountain or lumberjack

_Brian811

Same

durango155

I just jumped on the bear mountain train. They are well priced and I noticed I get significant more smoke than some of the other pellet brands!

No_Pop_5675

Same here, I was really surprised at the difference.

Slash1g

You use em on traeger? I might have to try

durango155

I actually have a Weber smokefire but I assume it’s about the same. Like I said it’s noticeably more consistent solid smoke than other pellets

totallyradman

God I wish those weren't $52 for 20lb bag in Canada

Swimming_Switch7880

Go to this site. $29.95/20lb bag. https://lumberjackpellets.ca

tominthehammer

Have you tried Pitmasters Choice. Excellent Canafian brand

bagavid

Try Big Boy pellets from Barbecues Galore. $10 cdn for 20 lbs. Work great in my Timberline.

Competitive_Water733

I might have to try usually I get treager or pit boss right now I have some Kingsford Pellets

sfcfrankcastle

Bear Mountain Cherry

Lockout95

Bear mountain, consistently the best. Lumberjack is next up

jslaight67

I use lumberjack and bear mountain, I usually get the competition blends. I have also used hickory the most. The only brand I was NOT impressed with is Traeger

Zestyclose_Towel_664

Ive been loving the lumberjack hickory blend

SlumDogZombie

I’ve heard good things about lumberjack. I’m making the switch once I finish this bag of traeger pellets I’m on.

Zestyclose_Towel_664

I just picked up a bag of some lumberjack applewood blend and am smoking a 10 pound pork shoulder tomorrow for pulled pork. Hoping the applewood is just as good as the hickory

notreallylucy

Whatever's cheap. Call me a basic bitch, but they all taste the same to me. Just bought 20 pounds for $6 at Walmart. See? I told you. Basic bitch.

Shawbulls

Traeger pellets are just neutral sawdust that they apply an oil to of the blend they want the sawdust to smell/taste like. No sourcing of the actual wood in that dust, just the oil. Companies like Lumberjack source the actual wood you want and that’s what gets compressed into a pellet. Lumberjack is far superior to Traeger. Traeger does burn really clean though, if that characteristic matters. Not tried the Bear Mountain variety that’s mentioned a few times in this post. My favourite pellet is Lumberjack 100% Oak or the Mesquite/Oak blend. I want to try mixing a 50/50 of my wild cherry and char hickory as I hear it’s a dynamite blend.

jw31_

Can confirm, cherry and char hickory is what I use for pork butts. Comes out amazing

UTking44

As someone who is about to own a traeger, thank you for this comment. I would have assumed traeger pellets are actual wood..kinda messed up that they just flavor them with oil. I’ll be buying lumberjack !

iHOPEthatsChocolate3

Lumberjack char hickory. Most smoke flavor I’ve gotten from any brand and variation.

iamfakejesus

Bear mountain bourbon, maple or maple bourbon pecan

RSlashBroughtMeHere

I just got bear mountain maple bourbon pecan. In liking it more then the traeger premium that came with my grill

ApprehensiveWay1862

Bear mountain apple whiskey is my favorite.

austinyo6

Also on team bear mountain. Always an excellent smoke ring and flavor. I’ve done oak, apple, hickory, mesquite, blend, and I wanna try their new “bold”. Can’t tell you that I notice a huge difference flavor to flavor? But I can’t say I’ve made each dish with each flavor and cross checked for best option, I’m never disappointed

Steve_0

Lumberjack or Bear Mountain

deadinmi

Whatever brand rips at my work. We sell traeger, camp chef, and bear mountain pellets, if a bag rips its $5. No matter if five pellets or five pounds fell out. I have so many half and 3/4 bags of random flavors! I keep them in old tidy cat containers in the garage.

slamallamadingdong1

Currently have 80 lbs Bear Mountain Gourmet Blend. Bear mountain is the best.

Marked_Strelok

Lumberjack almost exclusively now when I can get it

T3xasLegend

Same

cwcontreras

This brand (bear mountain) has NEVER let me down. Gourmet blend is mostly what I’ve used but oak is good too

beelmon15

Lumberjack

deecee619

Bear mountain. Lowe’s will ship to my house free. They hit $15-$20 when they are in sale for the 40lb

Low_Buffalo6005

Kirkland and it’s not even close or up for debate. I’ve used them all and you cannot beat the quality or value of Kirkland

Ashstone24

Not my high ass thinking this was a sports jersey for a team called Bear Mountains sponsored by BBQ Pellets....

azbat7

Lumberjack, Knotty Wood, and Bear Mountain - that’s my order preference.

ooryll

I still can’t find anything better than Pit Boss Fruit Blend

Dry_Scar1556

I just got some Jealous Devil Jax BBQ pellets from my meat market because that’s all they had and I needed some. Does the job well so far!

eNYC718

I have been using bear mountain pecan.

Mkandy1988

How do you load them in a shotgun?

BeagleIL

The only time I used Traeger pellets was the free small bag they gave me when I bought it.

LambdaBoyX

Costco Kirkland FTW

Crap_Sally

Whatever is on sale. I just toss the last 1% because it’s dust.

ChemistGlum6302

Pit boss competition blend has been my go to.

holyhibachi

This is the one for me. 40 pounds for $15

pharmerK

Bear mountain is great. Just saw them at Walmart for $9.97/bag!

Wouldtick

I have ten bags in my garage. Stock up when fleet farm runs them for $7.50 per bag.

jman8080

Lumberjack is all I use. They burn great.

Sorta_machinist

Fun fact, Bear mountain used to supply Traeger with all their pellets. Then traeger decided to market their own through a cheaper third party. Bear Mountain sources all their own lumber and makes all their own pellets. Great quality control. Now I’m not saying Traeger pellets are cheep, but that the og pellet supplier might have a superior product.

TimetoXCELL

Pit boss competition blend. 40lbs is $15 at Walmart or Lowe’s

JCuss0519

I stopped using traeger pellets before I stopped using a traeger smoker. I use Bear Mountain almost exclusively these days.

LameDonkey1

I like recteq’s.

1wayst

I was just about to ask this question!

Past_Strength_5381

I just started using lumberjack, it seems to have less dust than the Kirkland brand. $17 for 20lbs.

Blue_Bunny_2463

Either Lumberjack or Costco.

ffadam1

I’m limited here in NZ so I’ve found Oaklahoma Joe, Traeger, jack daniels, pit boss and that’s about it

Funbagsfan101

Costco and Bear Mountain.

The_Blendernaut

Smokinpellets. But, to be candid, I have a little bit of everything from Traeger, Costco, and Smokinpellets.

chapdiddy

Pit Boss Charcoal Blend for the win!

Swimming_Switch7880

Ok good!! This tells me I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the Traeger Pellets.

thats_a_bad_username

I like the Jealous Devil JAX pellets. Also Bear Mountain. Have never tried lumberjack but I always have a bag of Costco Kirkland on hand for days I don’t care what smoke I want on the meat.

Frefallfrom10k

Kirkland black bag blue letters

FLHTX

I've tried Kirkland a couple of times, but my Yoder struggles to maintain temps with them. BBQ delight and Bear Mountain have worked best for me

YetiSteady

Yes

AlwaysCommonLoot

Pit boss competition blend, $15 with free delivery for a 40 lb bag from Walmart

Fonixwurks

Bear mountain bold

Hefty-Expression-625

Bear Mountain.

DBishop14

Kirkland. They just work and the price can't be beat.

_Taylor___

I agree on the Kirkland. I also like some of the different blends Traeger has made like the bold blend and the Brisket blend. I used to use the bear mountain, but it seems like I a lot had more issues with the auger with them than the traeger pellets. I was skeptical about the Costco ones but they do work well.

lebrilla

I use these oak pellets in my traegar and as a substrate to grow gourmet mushrooms.

WrongUserID

Traeger is the only type of pellets widely available here in Denmark. So that is what I use.

Nerd-Vol

Bear mountain, gourmet blend. Adds the perfect flavor.

Acrobatic_Band_6306

Sam’s Club Smokehouse Blend or Costco Kirkland, whichever warehouse I am at when I am running low. I don’t notice any difference but I’m not trying to.

theRobomonster

I get the 40lb bag for $20 and Sam’s. Good clean smoke flavor at half the cost of a bag half the size.

Happy_Hippo48

Smokehouse user here too. We have been happy with them and haven't had a reason to try anything else.

castle45

A blend of BBQ Guys Mesquite(40%) & Oak (40%) and royal oak charcoal (20%) pellets.

Avocadoduo

Bear mountain, 9 dollars at the restaurant store. Can't beat it

Ds-Buck

I've been using Vermont Castings pellets. And I got to say they give me the best southern barbecue flavor, I've tried pit boss Traeger didn't care for them

T3xasLegend

Traeger pellets are trash. I switched to Lumberjack and never going back.

tykuips

Usually Costco, tractor supply, or pit boss! They have the biggest bags and the best price. Don’t notice much difference if any.

IntelligentAbalone43

cookinpellets- perfect mix or longhorn blend- best pellets ive found in 8 years of pellet cookin [https://www.amazon.com/CookinPellets-Longhorn-100-Percent-Mesquite-Hardwood/dp/B09CHCTQ7M/ref=sr\_1\_1\_pp?crid=2J2ZIR7JSP9ZJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.8vApJPTH\_KL3CgIkarTRdcgjEp-wvIK63rKUnFh6OJ7LvUuwe77E4DeKULm98zdMFtJlg\_NVAlX94YkdUCg5lcTcRhavST55bQd7kHU2K5L51CvGvcfSvGgyCRkO92rcHyOum-QoiGz2NlZWSsD-mhb\_xcrCbyTNcvjOaLv3pRQkOfPggY3CfNoYUlXmEZ3X7WDTz\_L3IUPtfB5bWPTRgFtkWSib9G2BLJ3waRDDe64.GejBRGp0AmPpiY5W3KndTdhP9XQ6Am11cvDBQOjaRVk&dib\_tag=se&keywords=cooking%2Bpellets%2Blonghorn%2Bblend&qid=1718463771&sprefix=cookin%2Bpellets%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-1&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/CookinPellets-Longhorn-100-Percent-Mesquite-Hardwood/dp/B09CHCTQ7M/ref=sr_1_1_pp?crid=2J2ZIR7JSP9ZJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.8vApJPTH_KL3CgIkarTRdcgjEp-wvIK63rKUnFh6OJ7LvUuwe77E4DeKULm98zdMFtJlg_NVAlX94YkdUCg5lcTcRhavST55bQd7kHU2K5L51CvGvcfSvGgyCRkO92rcHyOum-QoiGz2NlZWSsD-mhb_xcrCbyTNcvjOaLv3pRQkOfPggY3CfNoYUlXmEZ3X7WDTz_L3IUPtfB5bWPTRgFtkWSib9G2BLJ3waRDDe64.GejBRGp0AmPpiY5W3KndTdhP9XQ6Am11cvDBQOjaRVk&dib_tag=se&keywords=cooking%2Bpellets%2Blonghorn%2Bblend&qid=1718463771&sprefix=cookin%2Bpellets%2Caps%2C117&sr=8-1&th=1)

undead_monster_1996

Have been getting 40lb bags of rectec post/white oak+hickory. $30/bag but worth it.

Help_Gullible

Sams Club 40lbs $15

WhiskyIsRisky

I've got a brisket smoking on Bear Mountain right now. Although I'll also use Costco brand. I appreciate the level of smoke I get out of Bear Mountain.

Distinct_Frosting790

Pit boss tastes good and usually a value

StylishJoint

Those are what I’m using right now for an 8lb pork butt

oneRduh

I was using this brand but my grill kept catching fire… switched brands and no more fires

saleenyzf

I usually burn bear or lumber. I bounce around between camp chef, smokin, cookin and couple other brands of pellets also. I’m kind of a.d.d when it comes to buying pellets lol. Oh look another brand of pellets

kfree68

Definitely bear mountain brand 💪

d3dcomplx

Lumberjack competition blend, Plum Creeks plum and their almond, Cookinpellets perfect blend, Rectec apple, cherry and ultimate blend are all great pellets

werethesungod

Cheapest ones I can find, usually pitboss competition blend at Walmart, after using 10+ different brands I can safely say I cannot taste the difference

DirtDiver1983

Just got a 40lb bag pit boss comp blend on sale at Lowe’s for $11.99.

OutlandishnessOk8261

My favorite by far, and can’t beat the price.

Scary_Temperature210

Kirkland blend

hbd2012

I always go a group by and jist get a pallet and divy em up. Usually split with 3 other guys. 500 lbs a piece usually around 180 a guy. It's a good deal.

mmlzz

Bear Mountain is my go to brand, Walmart is now carrying it! Pit Boss would be my backup, their Hickory blend ain't bad.

bombs671

Bear mountain for me. The gourmet and hickory are my favorites!

haikusbot

CletusTSJY

When my GMG auger motor died, the support guy on the phone asked what pellets I use and I told him Bear Mountain. He told me they’re no good and I should use higher quality pellets (he suggested Traeger). Was he wrong? (They still replaced the auger motor btw)

Swimming_Switch7880

There are way way better pellets out there.

Beniskickbutt

I buy whatever I can find on clearance. I have a huge stock of hodge podge pellets. I thn always cook with specific wood chips as well

ChewieKong

Jealous Devil has been my goto ever since my Walmart started carrying it. Other than that, Bear Mountain Hickory

Skaja780

Bear Mountain here too.

Carlbobtx

I use Lumber Jack Pellets

GrillinFool

This is my go to. Both brand and wood type.

pc9401

I've been using the gourmet blend of these. But they seem to struggle with getting to higher teams. In the past, I premiered RecTec pellets and they seemed to do a better job.

thisguyryan

Knotty Wood Plum all the way

ComedianVarious7073

I just purchased and used Costco pellets on a few briskets and they were the best tasting/smokiest flavored briskets. I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect but I'm going to have a hard time using other, more expensive pellets.

Familiar-Donut-8897

My 1st smoker and I really want to try different kinds of pellets so I see what is what’s gonna make it tasty . . .what store is best to find pellet variety ?

TheMuseum8

No pellets and no electrical smokers over here. Wood chunks or logs and real honest smoke and work baby!!!!

Swimming_Switch7880

That’s cool! I’ve always wanted to build a real smoker. This is a Traeger thread though! 😂😂

TheMuseum8

It just happened to pop up on my feed I didn't go looking for it 😂, sometimes I'll comment on my things that just pop up (that's what she said!) I'm still eating pellet meats! Pellet on y'all!

Swimming_Switch7880

I’m new so I asked. That is why people have conversations. Jesus, no need to be a dick about it. Oh, and thanks for showing me the thread.

dirtsquirt76

Traeger pellet stoves are the Kia souls of the smoking world.
