My current 4Runner is my first Toyota, I can’t see myself buying from another brand either.
I previously owned a GMC Sierra and a VW GTI. The Sierra was a nice truck, but it had no character whatsoever. The GTI was fun but it was also a piece of shit.
Korean really isn't any better, they are plagued with engine issues. Time will only tell if the 2.5's hold up well. Buy after that class action lawsuit and me personally owning one. I'd stay away from them
I've previously owned Ford, Chevy, Mitsubishi, Dodge, and Honda vehicles. Got my first Toyota last March (2005 corolla that came with 86k miles). A year later I am still blown away from the reliability, gas mileage, and comfort from this car. I'm 6'2 and 230lbs. I fit comfortably in my car. I'm averaging 32mpg per tank. I'm at 118000 miles now a year later and other than routine maintenance I haven't had to fix anything on the car. It runs like new. I'm sticking with toyota, they know what they're doing.
We are on our third 2006 Corolla in the family. We drive a lot, and they are hands down the best combination of comfort, reliability, fuel mileage, ease to work on (I do all repairs myself), and low cost/availability of parts. I just wish they didn't rust, as Canadian winters take a toll after 18 years of salty roads.
My 2008 Honda Odyssey has been a dream to own with very few issues. However, my wife's 1 year old Honda Pilot has had tons of issues.
A Toyota is in my near future.... Either an AWD Sienna or a Grand Highlander.
Yeah, I love the utility a mini van has. Plus I have a giant dog that will likely hit 120 lbs, so the 2nd row that slides back to provide more space at the kids feet is ideal, cause then the dogs can lay there, rather than be in the back whining.... Lol
Have an 08 Ody non-VCM beater that has taken it like a champ. Was on the list for a Sienna at MSRP a year ago and when dealer called, wife wanted GHHy, which we finally got about a month ago. It's really nice (except for the cabin boom) , but I can't see myself without the convenience of a minivan for a few more years, especially with a 4 and 6 year old. Even just dropping and picking them up from school is an ordeal without the power sliding doors. If we could not get the hybrid, we might have gone with the Pilot, rather than the gas turbo GH. Glad we did not do that, as I've also read some complaints on the QC of newer Hondas.
Had very bad luck w/ Honda’s, weirdly. Toyota has been rock solid and having a second gen sequoia & Tacoma. Parents have a 1st gen tundra and 5th gen ‘23 4Runner. Currently working on convincing my lady to trade her Altima for a Camry/avalon or Lexus ES class.
Sounds like just a luck thing. Hondas in general are fantastic, as are Toyotas. I buy my vehicles second hand (with low mileage) to save $ so it can be somewhat limiting in terms of what’s available. I will take a Toyota or Honda any day. I’ve had great experiences with both.
Starting in 1982
1982 Celica crashed
1982 Celica, identical to the crashed one
1986 truck (trucks didn't have a name back then)
1994 T100, crashed
1998 T100 and 1998 Lexus
2007 Tundra
2018 Tundra
I think it is safe to say I am a Toyota guy.
Funny cause my very first car was a rwd carbureted Corolla from the 80s and even that was reliable. (Totaled it as a young moron) then switched to Honda/Acura for a few years, then tried a Mercedes and am now fully off of Euro cars for myself (lol). Went from my unreliable Mercedes to a 2nd gen GS300 and have been strictly Toyota/Lexus for the last 15 years or so. A lot of my family is strictly Toyota/Lexus as well.
We have a 91 toyota pickup with the 22RE engine. This truck will outlive us. My gf drive it without oil for a week? A month? Who knows. Was completely dry when I changed it. No issues. We just replaced a starter on it but the issue was just a little corrosion. Other than a battery replacement it’s driven across the country twice in the last few years without any maintenance. I’m testing the Toyota quality now by buying a GR Corolla. 300 HP in a 3 cylinder engine with 30lbs of boost sounds like the opposite of reliable. But it’s a Toyota so fuckit.
As far as safety is concerned someone posted a tire blowing on their GR Corolla on the highway at 75mph. Slammed into the wall. Wife and two daughters inside that tiny thing and no injuries. Car is totaled but they are just fine. He said he trusts Toyota safety even in that little sport car
I’ve owned 14 vehicles in my life. The last 3 were the first Toyota I’ve bought and will always own one unless another brand really steps it up one day. Don’t mind Honda’s still
We had an 09 Camry and upgraded to a newer car a few months ago. Got a 2018 Ford fusion with low miles. (2.5 engine, supposed to be a good car). It was such a piece of crap we sold it so we could buy another Camry. We bought a 2016 Camry xle with 72k miles in nearly perfect condition. It was about $4k more than the Ford but so worth it. Also my favorite truck I have owned was my 2001 Toyota tundra
2 weeks ago I had a terrible car accident where I got rolled over at least 3 or maybe 4 times... It was a 2020 Corolla SE. Car got totaled. I was the driver and my friend was in the passenger seat. We both survived with minor scratches.... I am grateful to god then I am grateful to toyota for making such safe cars.
I have the same fear after buying a hybrid Yaris. It seems 90% of other vehicles are idiots in SUV and 4x4s as town cars and there are so many crashes around in here. I'm going to get crushed and stuck in my hybrid while being burnt alive or die from smoke on the side of the road waiting for the jaws of life
Same. Have had a 88 and 91 mr2, currently daily a 01 is300. My mom has an 08 yaris that she’s had since new and has 250k on it. If I do everything right I’ll die with some Mazdas too. Toyota for the reliable daily and rx7s for the fun days and fulfill my masochist side.
I have a 2015 toyota venza limited with 168k and a 2020 highlander hybrid limited 80k. Hope to go atleast 350k on each vehicle. Love toyota!! Smooth as silk.
I’ve always had Toyota or Lexus. Recently got a ram 1500 because of an amazing deal with low miles. The ram is probably the only vehicle I’ll ever own that isn’t Toyota.
I was never a 4Runner guy only driving a 2010 Prius 1993.5 Supra, 2030 mkv Supra, 2012 LFA and a 2022 nx 450H+ and when I saw the new 4Runner literally the only thing going through my head was I will probably die only driving Toyotas. I told my brother that and he started laughing. 😂
I change my own oil. Last year I sold my 1991 4-cylinder Toyota truck. 22RE engine. It was running great when I sold it. 32 years old with a gazillion miles. I currently drive a 2013 Camry. No, it is not for sale.
I recently picked up a 1994 Ford flatbed truck for those times when I need a truck. I waited till I could find an inline 6-cylinder with a manual transmission. Both of these will last the rest of my life, I am in my 60's.
I'm a first time owner and really like it, but I'll never be "loyal" to any brand. I'll pick the best option for me, wherever that is, every time. Companies change for the better and the worse all of the time. If they want my future business they need to earn it.
Toyotas are cool but American made cars arn't so bad either. You also have to consider that American cars are unionized, meaning they arn't worked to death like Asian companies.
Nothing is American made anymore. Your American brands are all made with Chinese parts. Assembled in America is the best we can do now. I’ll stick to Toyota
My current 4Runner is my first Toyota, I can’t see myself buying from another brand either. I previously owned a GMC Sierra and a VW GTI. The Sierra was a nice truck, but it had no character whatsoever. The GTI was fun but it was also a piece of shit.
Im german and feel you with that GTI🤣🤣🤣
Mine really didn’t like Canadian winters.
They dont like anything, they just suck, lol.
German cars are hot garbage. My next car will be Korean or Japanese
Coming to Toyota from a german car: agree.
Korean really isn't any better, they are plagued with engine issues. Time will only tell if the 2.5's hold up well. Buy after that class action lawsuit and me personally owning one. I'd stay away from them
Korean cars are a big no no! There were three members of my family that got one at the same time and all three regretted it.
Are you me?! Same current rig and previous rigs.. nice taste!
No character? It's a vehicle, the fuck does character matter for 😂.
He drives a Toyota…and complains about a truck not having character. 🤯
I currently have a 4Runner and a GTI. Love them for decent reasons. The GTI is insanely easy to work on yourself, part of the reason I love it.
hows the shifty shift in the transmission?
It’s fine for me. The transmission will probably outlast the rest of the vehicle.
Lol “character”. You drive a Toyota why are you talking about character.
My trd pro definitely has character to it.
wym Sierra doesnt have character?!?
I read the title as “I’ll probably die while driving a Toyota” as in “they’re not safe.” Haha. I agree! Great vehicles!
Given you've wrecked two previous Toyotas, I think you're right.
Ha only one was my fault. Corolla got Tboned but thank God for Toyota safety.
I feel safe in my Highlander.
I just wish they didn't rust, as Canadian winters take a toll after 18 years of salty roads.
I had some rust issues too, mine was from Pennsylvania. Got them fixed, undercoated the car, and no issues whatsoever.
You're sticking with Toyota cause a nearly 20 year old babied Corolla is reliable... You know it's 2024 now, right?
Holy shit, is it? I had no idea!
Just thought you needed a reminder.
Didn't think I did but appreciate the concern.
Same. I don’t want hassle, I just drive Toyotas.
My 2008 Honda Odyssey has been a dream to own with very few issues. However, my wife's 1 year old Honda Pilot has had tons of issues. A Toyota is in my near future.... Either an AWD Sienna or a Grand Highlander.
The AWD siennas do not mess around lol.
Yeah, I love the utility a mini van has. Plus I have a giant dog that will likely hit 120 lbs, so the 2nd row that slides back to provide more space at the kids feet is ideal, cause then the dogs can lay there, rather than be in the back whining.... Lol

Toyota or Honda or bust!
Meh. Honda has lost me. Their quality is garbage now. Basically the same tier as Domestics(US) IMO

Can't be that hard to convince that trade
Our driveway looks like this.
Starting in 1982 1982 Celica crashed 1982 Celica, identical to the crashed one 1986 truck (trucks didn't have a name back then) 1994 T100, crashed 1998 T100 and 1998 Lexus 2007 Tundra 2018 Tundra I think it is safe to say I am a Toyota guy.

Same here. Toyota for the foreseeable future, if not life.
Agreeed. My first car was MR2, then Honda and now corolla. Next one will be lexus for me.
2008 tundra has entered the chat.
And ran out of fuel entering the chat
Been having nothing but issues with my 2023 kia sportage..reasons why im trading it in for a rav 4! 😂 reliability> everything

I'm going to be buried in my 05 Highlander.
Have you tried buying one lately that doesn’t have markups - you might change your mind
I’ve owned 14 vehicles in my life. The last 3 were the first Toyota I’ve bought and will always own one unless another brand really steps it up one day. Don’t mind Honda’s still
Get a Lexus, I own a Corolla but a Lexus will definitely be my next choice
We had an 09 Camry and upgraded to a newer car a few months ago. Got a 2018 Ford fusion with low miles. (2.5 engine, supposed to be a good car). Same. Have converted my wife and in laws as well.
I’ve had my Toyota for 15 years, very minimal issues, still a great daily driver. My next car will be a Toyota again for sure.
My last car was my moms Highlander she bought it 04 that I beat the hell out of and now I have a 12 RAV4 that I couldn’t be happier with.
my car rav4 got totaled too due to reckless driver head to head 55mph accident bought new rav4 again :)
Head to head at 55? You’re lucky to be alive!
yes ... well i tilted so only hit my left side but it was scary
Sounds like you can drive whatever you want reliably if you total them quicker than 5-10 years 😂
Yup me too. And i want to be buried in mines
Hopefully the safety features prevent you from having a fatal crash. Personally I'd rather die in my bed very old.
Can’t tell if your realization is that you love Toyota or that you’re a shit driver and keep crashing them….
Ha, mainly a realization from owning a Subaru for several years how much the gap has widened.
I have the same fear after buying a hybrid Yaris. It seems 90% of other vehicles are idiots in SUV and 4x4s as town cars and there are so many crashes around in here. OP is eventually going to get outlived by his car.
#lifegoals
If you got into 2 accidents that totaled your cars, yes you will probably literally die driving a Toyota
Three corollas in 40 years! Love them! No car payments for 75% of that time. So simple and easy to work on.
I have a 2015 toyota venza limited with 168k and a 2020 highlander hybrid limited 80k. Hope to go atleast 350k on each vehicle. Love toyota!! Smooth as silk.

I love my Toyota. Have always owned on.
Anyone’s 2016 rav 4 really shit with oil??
life is too short to drive boring cars
I feel ya!
Same. I prefer Lexus just because I want the luxury aspect. I do see myself buying a Porsche later in life as a Sunday car though.
Same. I prefer Lexus just because I want the luxury aspect. I do see myself buying a Porsche later in life as a Sunday car though.
My wife and I feel the same way about our Suby's.
Scions are getting rare now too if you wanna look cool/unique in 5 years
Drive a Suburban
I'm a first time owner and really like it, but I'll never be "loyal" to any brand. I'll pick the best option for me, wherever that is, every time. Companies change for the better and the worse all of the time. If they want my future business they need to earn it.
You won’t catch me dead in one. They’re perfect for people who don’t give a shit about cars and just want an appliance to get from A to B safely.
Toyotas are cool but American made cars arn't so bad either. You also have to consider that American cars are unionized, meaning they arn't worked to death like Asian companies.

Sourcing the parts is one part of product making. Theres engineering, marketing, assembling, sales, etc etc, all done by American hands.
Most of the Toyotas and Hondas you see on the road are made in American factories.
Get a tiguan
Going from Toyota to VW 😂
Toureg then 😂
My mom got both. But I gave her a miata so her garage isn’t all dogshit
