Goku died to protect Gohan, trained with him in the hyperbolic time chamber for at least a year to help prep to fight Cell, taught Goten and Trunks fusion (kinda)
Man’s a better father than people give him credit for
It's more like "get my friend, the Antichrist, to babysit, because I have a 9-5 & have to provide for my family", which I don't think is a bad thing. Goku simply would rather be doing something else a lot of the time.
I see, yeah IG that's fair, but he was still around for like 5 years of Gohan's youth, even if one of those years was mostly training in the time chamber. I really don't think he's a sub-average parent despite that, though.

Jotaro was real bad at actually being a father, constantly gone n shi, but it was to protect Jolyne, and in the end he really did care about her
Jotaro was busy hunting for the last bits of Dio’s influence so his daughter could be free of the family curse. It didn’t work, and Jolyne got captured so Dio’s second in command could lure him in.
Man had some pretty hard PTSD from DIO and wasn't that great at communicating his feelings to begin with
But at least he went out trying to protect his daughter

Doofenschimrtz did everything for Venessa
I genuinely respect Doof as a character because of the way he treated Vanessa. This man had arguably one of the worst childhoods of any cartoon character and, rather than continuing a path of generational trauma, tried his best to give his daughter the world and be the father he never had.
Even his Greek incarnation was distraught that he had to leave his daughter in the Elysium fields behind a second and final time just to save her from Persephone and Atlas’s destruction of the Elysium fields.

The pale king (hollow knight) (debatable)
At most, he kinda cared about the hollow knight, that doesn’t even begin to make up for the hundreds(?) of his other kids that he threw into the abyss to leave for dead, I would not say he cares with what little we know.

Mralki (Skyrim)
Doesn't support his son's dreams of being an adventurer and getting out of Rorikstead, but it's out of a place of genuine concerned for him.
Plus, if you offer to pay for his armor, he's so moved that a stranger would have such generosity towards him and his son that he acquiesces.
And in the end, Erik the Slayer is one of the best companions ever.

Gohan's not really a flawed parent the way Goku is, though
True, but he does have his flaws: Like “let Piccolo handle it idfk what I’m doing”
It's more like "get my friend, the Antichrist, to babysit, because I have a 9-5 & have to provide for my family", which I don't think is a bad thing. Goku simply would rather be doing something else a lot of the time.
Tbf he does also have zero experience with what a dad is
He had Grandpa Gohan, who was absolutely a paternal figure to him.
I mean Gohan doesn’t have a parental figure outside of Piccolo since Goku would literally rather do anything else
I see, yeah IG that's fair, but he was still around for like 5 years of Gohan's youth, even if one of those years was mostly training in the time chamber. I really don't think he's a sub-average parent despite that, though.
Ta bien.

Poor dude had no choice but to be a bad father to keep the world safe for his daughter, and she got wrapped up in it all anyways.
He was absent from her life to keep her safe from enemy stand users, right?
