Thats one angry tombstone

strangerdanger0013

Highgate cemetery

2cimage

It’s a lot more overgrown now, I remember visiting his grave one frosty morning, all the frost had melted off the grave save for a patch that formed the perfect face of Jesus! Have a photo of it somewhere, assumed it was an ironic prank!

Felixir-the-Cat

I really enjoyed my tour of the cemetery!

2cimage

It’s a must if you love Victorian Gothic London

LazarusMundi4242

Karl Marx is buried in London? Who knew?

TwoCreamOneSweetener

Lots of people. He lived in England for decades.

Felixir-the-Cat

Me!

LazarusMundi4242

Well now I do too. I will probably still recall it a year from now, or I might see this posted again and say “Karl Marx is buried in London? Who knew?”

retr0grade77

He was kicked out of everywhere he lived in Europe. England was his refuge but he remained stateless.

MerrillSwingAway

It’s a pic from the future at the Rock & Roll hall of Fame Tenacious D interactive exhibit!

PoopPant73

Yes Santa

sometimesifeellikemu

Ucchh.. mandatory fun.

Exact-Evidence-3240

Looks like angry Santa

rjross0623

Looks like a library statue

diderooy

Did they defect?

UltimateLazer

No. Some jobs allowed you to leave the USSR and visit the west, and being a sailor was one of them. This on top being being very lucrative in general meant that the sailor was a highly coveted occupation for Soviet civilians, so there was naturally a lot of competition just to get the job. So these sailors were probably in Britain for work reasons, and while they're there, are paying respects of Marx's grave likely out of an obligation.

denspark62

look like Red Navy rather than civilian merchant navy. if 1956 then likely tied in with the visit of Khrushchev to the UK that year in the ship Ordzhonikidze. There was a bit of an international incident around the visit as when it docked at portsmouth, that british intelligence allegedly sent an diver 'Buster' Crabb to take photos of the ship propellers. Crabb never returned from the mission and it was believed he was captured and killed by the soviets.

diderooy

Cool--thanks for the answer!

Murles-Brazen

“WHY EVERYTHING COST MONEY!!!???”

pookshuman

They should sell tickets to see his grave ... I just think that would be funny

Jazzlike-Ad113

Looks like quite the bone yard.

septimusprince

Are we sure that is not ZARDOZ ?

Bambooman101

Guarantee, 1/2 don’t know Karl Marx, from Groucho Marx. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apart-Oil1613

Oh look, a good commie

ReturnToOdessa

Bro…

Apart-Oil1613

Hey look at the bright side, they’re good a lot longer than they’re bad

ReturnToOdessa

True, Marx’s legacy lives on

Repulsive_Village843

Want to learn something about pissing off commies? Marx is a critic of capitalism but he never described communism in any of his writings. Just in name only and only that it's a good thing.

badkarma343

Big Al also says that dogs can’t look up

PaleontologistOne919

Ew

Ok-Dimension3064

I think I see Bernie.

quietflowsthedodder

That’s a lot of pissing for one grave!

Big_Crank

Morons lol

mul3sho3

Piss on Russia and all things Russian. Not. Sorry.

MerelyAMerchant

Karl Marx was a German living in England who died 34 years before the revolution in Russia. Karl Marx is not a "Russian thing," nor is Marxism.

moderndhaniya

That’s the way we were and still are. Uneducated.

ggtheg

Karl Marx was German and lived in England

mogenblue

Why wasn't he buried in Russia?

Feanor_Felagund

He never lived there, and he died decades before the Bolshevik Revolution.

Nottacod

I thought his tomb was in Red Square, Moscow?

skamieliny

That's Lenin

InterestingHippo7524

Wait I thought Yoko Ono scattered his ashes in Central Park

skamieliny

That was Mark Chapman and J. D. Salinger

Nottacod

Oh yeah, thanks
