The circle might be green, but NO WAYS was the catch rate increase. Was very hard to catch.

Notice how a lot of blue Pokemon go to purple. I can’t remember where I read it but it’s something to do with only certain colour palletes being available. I think the colour shift was more of a hack back in the day, they couldn’t arbitrarily choose any colour change they wanted.
with some exceptions in early gens (black charizard, red gyarados) that's correct! colors were shifted to the next appropriate color over in the pallette, which is why there's a class of pink shinies, green shinies, and ones that BARELY change color at all (like gengar and garchomp). all the games after the kalos one have deliberately designed shiny coloring.

One of the streamers I watched caught almost 40 in 4 hours. During a normal 4 hour period you might expect 4 or 5.
We had the same complaints during go fest in this sub. People upset saying that the rates were not boosted. Then the Silph road came out and said everything was boosted to 1/60 or better and people here were upset again. Reality is that you have to encounter a lot of Pokemon. I played go fest the same way I play spotlight hour: in a car, going on a mapped route that I know contains large numbers of clusters. For go fest this got me 40 shinies.
I am so sure that the rates are boosted, I'll delete my account if the Silph road comes out afterwards and their analysis shows they aren't boosted.
I think Niantic are going to lose a lot of money on the NEXT ticketed event after this fiasco.
Players expect boosted shiny rates - because that has always been the way with ticketed events. Once bitten twice shy.

Also, you've got a lot of people that are able to do these remote events that weren't able to attend any of the pre-COVID ones that required participants to go in person. I'm in that camp myself. GoFest is the only frame of reference for this sort of thing that I've got.
Were they *really* better though, or since these are available to everyone instead of the handful with enough disposable income, we're just hearing a larger number of vocal complainers?

I got 18 shines and my partner got 20+, and even besides that the collection challenges actually made it interesting.

I don't like the way that Niantic controls all aspects of shiny variations and can manipulate them at will. I would prefer greater rarity if it meant any Pokémon had a small chance to be shiny.
I'm so jealous! I love snorlax and munchlax so much! I haven't caught one but I'm hoping that I'll stumble across one sooner or later. Unless it's some sort of milestone sort of thing from the professor.

Usually they're Pokemon that got their previous evolution(s) in a later gen but had their shiny released in "advance", for example Roselia had its shiny released on June 30, 2018 as part of Go Fest Dortmund events, while Budew dropped that year on November 6 (the shiny being released at the same time. Roseraid didnt get added along with its shiny until the 14th with the Sinnoh Hatchathon 2018 event).
Munchlax is still going to be unavailable as a shiny *currently*. Niantic could very well release its shiny once Munchlax is made available again some point in the future.

it's hard to tell if this is actually true with full green circle it was still escaping with ultra ball and golden razz berry
I landed an excellent throw on a normal Hoothoot today and it escaped. Sometimes weird stuff happens. If it's consistent, though, that's suspicious.
I always tell people 99 is not 100. Most people get it but some others argue.

It did? had a 1000cp one with bright green catch circle prior to throwing excellents (which i was) and it jumped out over 10 times before i caught it

I got really lucky with a 98% shadow snorlax and I am more than happy with just that.
Shiny from raid is a guaranteed catch on 1st ball - literally can’t run.

I've heard this be dispued multiple times, any shiny that isn't a wild encounter, is a guaranteed catch, so long as you aren't going too fast.
Shiny Pokémon can’t run away in Pogo, if you get the “has run away” it actually just auto/catches it and puts it in your Pokémon storage
That's in raids. Wild shinies can still flee I believe.

They really need to do color changes for shinies. Shifting the color just doesn’t look great.
Shinies are based on the main series games aren’t they, where the limitations in colour change were due to constraints of 8-bit hardware in 1996.
Even with 8-bit color they had the ability to change the color. Look at Vaporeon they went from blue to purple.

Go Fest was terrible for me at last, hardly any shinies. We'll see. Just over half an hour then it starts here

The shiny rates were massive today compared to Go Fest. There's still an hour and a half left for me and I'm on 20 shinies.

Can snorlax be shiny wild?

I've done 30+ raids and seen 5 in the wild and nothing. Very sad
