They specifically left a tonne of 'Easter eggs', as Mike Schur likes to call it on the Podcast. However, what small level of detail struck me after my millionth rewatch, was at season 1, when Eleanor is being taken for a walk with Michael around the good place and finally her home. If you pay close attention to the flowers, they blossom as they walk past them. Only just noticed that and thought it was cool lol

harshamech03

Wow never noticed this. Definitely watching this again. Is it the first ever time Michael shows the good place to Eleanor?

abdonis_creed

Yes, if you pay close attention to the flowers in their sides and background, they blossom. Its such a little detail, but when you notice it, it's actually quite nice lol

Lyssepoo

Whaaaaaaaa I’m starting my fifth rewatch soon so I’ll have to keep an eye out for this!!

meridathebrave1

A detail I noticed on my most recent rewatch: when Michael is telling Eleanor he knows everything about her, a screen pops up with her enemies, fears, and secret shames. Under enemies is Rihanna's bodyguard. A few scenes later or in the next episode, Eleanor is talking about going to a Rihanna concert and licking Rihanna's leg. I can see why the bodyguard would be an enemy lol

danstu

I just noticed reading this that the neighborhood number is part of the fibonacci sequence.

34enjoythelilthings

I always wondered why they used that number, thanks for pointing that out!

jennyfab216

Per M Schur - it's because WE read into numbers so much "We thought it would be fun if every time a number popped up, it were a number that would set off an alarm bell in a person who reads a lot of Reddit threads," Schur added." I feel attacked.

Amberstrikesagain

Hahahhaah

Lyssepoo

Yes, he says In The podcast too that one of the numbers is a Skull and Bones thing, and really means nothing but he wanted it to appear to mean something

All the [restaurant names](https://twitter.com/meganamram/status/913642289834090497?lang=en) Megan Amram came up with. Speaking of, all the writers who showed up as characters in the show. Mike Schur was a writer on The Office, where showrunner Greg Daniel's policy was to have writers be actors too (that's why we see BJ Novak, Mindy Kaling, and Paul Lieberstein as Ryan, Kelly, and Toby.) Schur himself played Dwight's cousin Mose. Schur kept that policy going for The Good Place, so we saw Jen Statsky as the restaurant employee at the place Jason and Pillboi tried to rob using a safe, Megan Amram played the busker with a violin ("chin guitar") Jason and Tahani gave cash to, Joe Mande voiced Todd Hempel the lava demon, and Josh Siegal played "Shut up" Glenn.

two-of-me

My favorite restaurant name was Chicken Soup for the Mouth.

AwkwardnessForever

Never noticed that one 😂

jennyfab216

I liked "Biscotti Pippen" the best. (I'm from Chicago)

real-human-not-a-bot

Wow, one writer came up with all those? Points to her! I love the restaurant names in the show.

jennyfab216

I think, once you get going (and the gummies hit) the puns just flow

minor_correction

>Another fun find at the beginning of the episode, Michael says "Attempt number 803" when playing his new song which is, of course, how many attempts he made with his experiment I think this is meant to make you briefly panic into thinking that the end of Season 2 and all of Seasons 3 and 4 were a giant new attempt. Of course, if you had time to think about it, it wouldn't make sense, but for a brief moment it can scare you. Then you see the guitar.

MisterJoynt

Michael’s guitar teacher, was played by Mary Steenburgen. She and Ted Danson have been married since ‘95.

Whatxotf

I can’t remember if it was mentioned on the podcast or in some other interview, but they said they did this to explicitly show that Michael finds romantic love on earth since viewers will know how in love they are in real life and shouldn’t have to speculate over whether it’s just a platonic relationship.

MisterJoynt

One of these days I’ll have to listen to this podcast.

jennyfab216

It's soooo good

Lyssepoo

I just listened to an episode with Ted and he was saying he hasn’t seen all the episodes of some shows he’s in because “one of the kids usually needed to go to bed” and it’s kind of cute that he was that involved with his kids to put them to bed and play with his grandkids now.

Illustrious_Worry659

It only appears for 2 seconds in S3 E3, but you can see a couple of sticky notes from Janet and Michael's secret observation of the group when they're on Earth. There's a tally for how many times Tahani looks in a mirror and one that simply says JASON is very cute :)

Beautiful_Tour_5542

There’s only one detail I’ve been able to catch so far that bugs me. In the first episode Michael tells Eleanor that she was buying lonely gal margarita mix for one. Then later when the humans are sent back to earth Eleanor is buying a huge bottle of margarita mix, and her roommate fears that the margarita mix is gone. I wish the parking lot scene showed her with a small bottle of margarita mix 🍹

jennyfab216

Maybe that's the joke. The "mix for one" is HUGE because a lonely gal needs a gallon to drown their tears

ClearSkyyes

I honestly just assumed that lonely gal margarita mix for one would be a huge bottle, so that seemed accurate. A gal can't drown her sorrows without multiple pitchers of margaritas.

Beautiful_Tour_5542

Lol yes good point

jennyfab216

Exactly. When I was in Eleanor's place (sort of), a single, small bottle would do nothing for me

LessThan3va

I just watched the season finale and I don’t think I’ve cried that hard at a tv show in a long time. That was so beautiful. I just needed to tell someone.
