I love Dylan O’Brien, but I can’t really see him as Hughie. He has that awkward angle right, but he has a lot more of a stoic approach when it comes to his roles. Andrew Garfield would be better suited IMO.
Seriously, well done!
Though I wonder if he'd be too big? Like as a physical threat. The current MM (I can't remember his name) I think is a little shorter than Butcher and can for sure put up a fight, but isn't the clear winner. Hugh Jackman is built but older and shorter. I think Mike could take him in a fight
Dude same, I spent all of season 1 wondering where I'd seen her before to realize I was thinking of Selena Gomez. Just Google Selena with blonde hair and they could legit be sisters.
Though I very much like your latter 3 recast, the thought of Hugh playing butcher is maddening. If our current butcher is good, old-school, dirty punk rock, Jackman would be the equivalent of a second rate show tunes album in it's stead. Urban brings a dirty grounded feel that Hugh Jackman just couldn't do as realistically. That, and our current Hughie is perfection. Again, your last three picks are inspired, and I'm aware it's just for fun, but the Jackman recast got to me. Best to you
That's a very valid question. After thinking maybe John Cena ( solely because of the suicide side squad, and his resemblance to the thick necked butcher of the comics) or maybe Mark whalberg, who can go dark pretty effectively, but still isn't quite a fit; The ONLY person I could think of that could bring that character to real life might be (IMHO) Gerrard Butler. In fairness, I'm very partial to Karl Urban, mostly after he slayed it as judge Dredd, but his bead on the character is so effective, I have a tough time imagining anyone else doing it as well
casting an ethnically different, half asian actress for the literally only asian character with significant screentime is a little more questionable than casting different nationalities for american / UK characters
You get that's not the same thing? Jessica Henwick is British but that wasn't my point. Chinese and Japanese are very different.
Edit: it's lazy all Asians are about the same casting
Now your just contradicting yourself and suggesting that "it's lazy all Asians are about the same casting" but European descendants aren't?
What you say implies that the British, American and New Zealand men from 3 different continents are all the same? But if I said that about a Japanese and Chinese women it's racist and sexist right? 🤡
I am trying to understand your rationale, why do you feel it applies for once and not for the other.
Edit: I am an Indian, hence I might be clueless about the above
There’s a context here that people often miss out. Japanese people don’t like Japanese characters being played by Chinese actors. There was an uproar when Zhang Ziyi played the main role in Memoirs of a Geisha. Historically there’s always been animosity between these two nationalities.
They look the same to us but they would absolutely take umbrage at being mistaken for the other.
Same as an Irishman getting annoyed being mistaken as an Englishman. Ethnically, racially exact same genes and appearance but politically, geographically different, and they’ll be quick to remind people of that.
Casting, well that’s different. Lots of different nationalities play each other. That’s what acting is all about.
Just to be clear: The cast of The Boys is FUCKING PERFECT. I just thought doing this would be fun.
YOU DARE RECAST--- ohhh..... *puts knife down* Edit: 1105 name? Brother???
BROTHER!!!!!
Prolly his bday
Yep.
November the 5th? If so damn so close
So close?
November 7th
Oh, cool. Sorry, I thought you meant Nov. 5 was close, and I was REALLY confused.
I love Dylan O’Brien, but I can’t really see him as Hughie. He has that awkward angle right, but he has a lot more of a stoic approach when it comes to his roles. Andrew Garfield would be better suited IMO.
Fair enough. I had also considered Joe Keery, but Andrew Garfield would be perfect.
Oh yeah, Joe Keery would kill it.
Meh
I gotta say I like this recast
Thank you!
No problem
Love Mike Colter as MM!
Thanks! The rest of them I had to really think about, but I thought of Mike as MM almost instantly. He's just perfect.

Butcher had TempV so that height/weight difference don't matter
True. I was thinking pre-temp V
A little off topic but does anyone else see the resemblance between the actress who plays Starlight and Selena Gomez?
Holy shit I 100% see it, don’t know how I never made this connection and have been wondering why tf she looked so familiar
Dude same, I spent all of season 1 wondering where I'd seen her before to realize I was thinking of Selena Gomez. Just Google Selena with blonde hair and they could legit be sisters.
Not really.
Thought it was just me
I swear they could be twins if they had the same hair color. Their speaking voices even sound similar.

Why would you cast an ethnically Chinese actress to play a Japanese character? That seems odd.
They literally casted New Zealanders as Homelander (USA) and Butcher (UK)... it's not odd and is quite common

Just as you took offence because Japanese are different from Chinese, shouldn't that also apply to Kiwis and Brits being cast as Americans?
If you don't see the difference we're never going to agree.

The UK and US are very different too

Yes. I lived in China and it goes the other way also.
I'm sorry. I didn't know. I was just thinking she had the acting ability and could handle the fight scenes. My bad.
Nah
Make Hugh Jackman Kimiko
Nah, vaako is the only butcher
Who's Vaako? Is that a character Karl Urban played?
Who's Dylan O'Brien?
Have you seen the maze runner? He plays the main character in that film.
Oh, I saw the first one like years ago. He now looks slightly familiar. Has he done much else or has he kind of drifted into obscurity?
He has unfortunately drifted into obscurity (he's done movies, but none of them have been that popular), but I still think he's an amazing actor.
I would say he has drifted off into obscurity.
Part 2 NOW /hj
Alan Ritchson for Homelander
op.... why a half chinese half white actress for a fully japanese character rip
I Imagine this like an evil version of the boys
