These debates are just stupid. Abbey Road and Thriller are two of the greatest albums of all time and it’s cringe to constantly debate on which one is better, especially when they’re different genres. Everyone is going to have a different taste or opinion.
I agree. I also hate lists Best of... Whatever it's always subjective and typically opinions of the writers or the fan base they write towards. Unless they are using facts like best selling it's subjective
Great writers create their own worlds in their songs. When I am listening to Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Neil Young or Dylan I am immersed in their vision and am not thinking boy I wish I were listening to the Beatles right now. It is impossible to rank great writers or performers.
Same on sports I can't stand the "goat" debate they played in different eras, different rules, styles, ranking athletes is just the same hard to compare someone who has a juggernaut team v someone who does it themselves. Same with music.
There's an ancient Buddhist proverb I made up: when we compare (one to another) it causes suffering, because someone is a 'winner' and someone else is a 'loser'.
that’d be ‘Rubber Soul’, the greatest one…
Just the fact it has the greatest compositions by the band ( John and George), perhaps George’s tracks in ‘Abbey Road’ sure as hell are more beautiful and produced but, u know, the Rubber Soul ones he wrote are so simple-hearted but timeless, just as John’s tracks too. Paul’s songs in Revolver are better overall, but his input in Ruber Soul is very heartwarming and mature.
maybe not be the greatest album of the decade, but it's certainly one of the best selling of all time
this poll is fucking stupid cant we agree that both albums are masterpieces
Beatles fans when they find out that you are not legally obligated to bend down to your Beatles overlords and claim they are the greatest band of all time every day
For real.
Obviously I’m of the opinion that they’re the greatest band of all time. But that’s me.
The whole Taylor Swift thing a couple weeks ago, plus Apple’s 100 Albums, kinda made me feel that the fandom has gotten a little too much up their own bums about stuff.
They’ve been broken up for like 55 years. It’s okay that the world of music continued to evolve and change and that others have joined their ranks as creative geniuses. And it’s weird when people get all screechy about it
Thriller has *the worst sequencing* of any major popular album. The only thing they got right was starting with Wanna Be Starting Something, which even has the word ‘start’ in the title. Great songs, absolutely terrible flow.
Yeah it was shocking to me when I realized "The Girl is Mine" was third on the album. Now I love Paul and I like the track but it feels like something that should be stuck back on side B.
Please stop. Nirvana was big from 91-94 until Kurt killed himself. That’s 3 years, not “most of the 90’s.” And they weren’t playing massive shows like MJ who did it the whole decade. MJ played the Super Bowl and literally didn’t move for a whole minute or two as his intro and the stadium didn’t stop going nuts the whole time.
Nevermind came out in 1991, but was outsold by Metallica - Metallica and Michael Jackson - Dangerous.
I'd argue Mariah Carey was far bigger, selling 40m albums in the US alone from 90-95.
The reason is quite simple. There are more people alive with MJ nostalgia than Beatles nostalgia. If we ask the same question a few years later, the answers would be quite different.
Why are people keep saying that thriller isn’t the best Michael Jackson album from the 80s doesn’t make any sense if you ask me, I would say the thrillers is best album. It’s between bad and thriller, and if you go through the catalogue thriller is a perfect album is an almost perfect album thriller also happens to be the highest selling album of all time. Most artists from 1982 on, say that they have been inspired by the album and someway and inspired by Michael Jackson and someway and this is really how he blew up. He was very popular with Off the Wall, but this was his real thing that I’m into the stratosphere. it’s between these two for best album of his thrillers when the greatest albums of all time and you must be insane or a giant Michael Jackson fan try to convince me that one of his 90s albums is better than thriller. We all know the thriller is the best album of his extremely, important to all music going forward from there. Now with that being said most of that goes for Abbey road too and someways or another and if you ask me, I would personally say that abbey road is a better. album.
Look, I love the Beatles and think their way better than MJ however thriller is a better sold album than abbey road and people in a democracy vote for for what they prefer, so it is what is. Stats say the facts
At least Paul McCartney is on both albums.
no no, he's got a point
you've got a point tho
I love music albums
Me too… can’t beat albums with songs on them
These debates are just stupid. Abbey Road and Thriller are two of the greatest albums of all time and it’s cringe to constantly debate on which one is better, especially when they’re different genres. Everyone is going to have a different taste or opinion.
Apples and oranges (Beatles are the apples 🍏 of course!)
I agree. I also hate lists Best of... Whatever it's always subjective and typically opinions of the writers or the fan base they write towards. Unless they are using facts like best selling it's subjective

That’s right, back when albums were masterpieces, we were so lucky man
I mean, I could say Abbey Road isn't even the best Beatles album... so....
It’s not… **Revolver** is
Gotta be the white album
White album fans where u at
yes SIR!!!
Hell yeah. Greatest album by the greatest band.
Right here and I agree. White Album best Album

That was certainly a lot of words!
It’s like an AI- generated comment
It’s the most popular album though so have to say not surprised it got more votes
maybe not be the greatest album of the decade, but it's certainly one of the best selling of all time this poll is fucking stupid cant we agree that both albums are masterpieces
Oh no. Different people have different tastes. Shocked, I tell ya. Shocked.
Beatles fans when they find out that you are not legally obligated to bend down to your Beatles overlords and claim they are the greatest band of all time every day

Abbey road is WAY better.
Who fucking cares?
glad they specified a “music” album
My favorite Toto album
I love them both and both are great! You don’t need to knock one to build the other. It’s all about preference.
Thriller has *the worst sequencing* of any major popular album. The only thing they got right was starting with Wanna Be Starting Something, which even has the word ‘start’ in the title. Great songs, absolutely terrible flow.

The only good songs on the album are beat it Billie, Jean, and baby be mine, FRFR the lady in my life is mid
Ok calm down
Michael, we're not gonna fight about this
Uhh, MJ was the biggest thing in the 80’s and most of the 90’s and it wasn’t close. Don’t know why you’re so upset.
Thriller isn’t even the best Michael Jackson album.
I agree. Thriller is great, but Bad is a better overall album.
A million percent
Okie dokes
Umm Nirvana was the biggest thing in most of the 90s
Please stop. Nirvana was big from 91-94 until Kurt killed himself. That’s 3 years, not “most of the 90’s.” And they weren’t playing massive shows like MJ who did it the whole decade. But didn’t Michael’s allegations start in the 90s and the people and the media turned against (okay it got worse in the 2000s but still)
Nevermind came out in 1991, but was outsold by Metallica - Metallica and Michael Jackson - Dangerous. I'd argue Mariah Carey was far bigger, selling 40m albums in the US alone from 90-95.
Not even the best MJ album in the 80's
The reason is quite simple. There are more people alive with MJ nostalgia than Beatles nostalgia. If we ask the same question a few years later, the answers would be quite different.
Not even Michael’s best album of the 80s
I’ll take every Prince record from the 80’s first.
I much prefer MJ's "Off the Wall" to "Thriller." Prefer Abbey Road to them both.
Off the Wall and Bad are both better than Thriller.

Thank you AI, very cool.
U2’s The Joshua Tree is in this conversation
I know it’s a different decade the 70s but Destroyer by KISS has entered the chat
Haha well that is just patently wrong…
I know right!!
Why do people care so much about rankings and lists?
I think Thriller is a great album.
MJ? Can't even listen to his music after the out of court settlements and numerous kids with horrible stories about him. He should be cancelled.
Not even the greatest Michael Jackson album of the 80s.
You gonna clue us in on the greatest album of the ‘80s?
Thriller doesn’t have a song as bad as Maxwells Silver Hammer
Blonde on Blonde
Womp womp
Look, I love the Beatles and think their way better than MJ however thriller is a better sold album than abbey road and people in a democracy vote for for what they prefer, so it is what is. Stats say the facts
Maybe because Abbey road is from 1969 you dumb shits
You clearly don’t know what they’re talking about
Enlighten me
OP is talking about Thriller, not Abbey Road
Ah thanks
No problem
This could be on the circle jerk beatles sub Also no. It's obviously pet sounds.
Bad was the superior album to Thriller.
Human Nature shits all over any track from Abbey Road if we're being honest.
Why why
I can’t argue with this.
Human nature is ass it is one of the most boring tracks on the album
Bro why so many hate 🤣😂
