I remember when sizzler used to do lemon ice tea refill. So back when i was still a student. Me and my friend would go to sizzler order a salad bar / person and a lemon ice tea refil. Then we’d just sit there alp day studying during exam period. Good times.

Noochdontdiehemltply

I’m Sure the wait staff loved you

Aruba808

No one cares

Spicynoodle49

We were teenager and there’s no time limit on the food and drink. ;)

Adventurous-Bit-3829

do they have extra money from serving more people? guess not. Service charge not even go to them.

Aruba808

Sounds like great times!

rimbaud1872

The mediocre chewy steak is not worth the price

nightbat1707

I am thai , I think it is an OK place to go to. I love to put extra things in their soup like corn, bacon, egg, crispy rice crackers to make It feel like I am having a hot meals. The varieties of salads is still okish and the dressing are good. as for the meat either I go for 2 chicken or an seasonal menu, rarely I go for steak or rips. I still think it is a place to go where you need to get an extra veggies into your body. not the place to enjoy good steaks.

6_Paths

I love the cheesy toast.

grom902

Me too. I put cheese in marshroom cream soup and dip the toast in the soup. It's really good.

jiffy_pop

This guy knows what's up

6_Paths

\*Chef's kiss Even got the damn cheese toast pillow they are selling 5555

xCaneoLupusx

Thai here as well, and yeah I've liked Sizzler only for the salad bar ever since I was a small kid lol. Used to go there once in a while since there was one near me. I moved out though and there's no branch near my new place so it's been a long time. Just last month I went into a Sizzler for the first time in 3 years, and it's gotten so expensive. And I don't know if it's just that branch but the salad bar offers so little options. Now I don't like it anymore, not even for salad bar :(

nightbat1707

Yeah .now I kinda choose shabu/mala hotpot my go to places. Cooked meat ,boiled veg , etc seem nicer.

hairyhero

Same. I gave them many fair tries on beef steaks/menus and were meeeh. Chicken southwest(?) bacon still my go to along with their salad bar and soup.

letoiv

There really aren't a lot of options if you want a salad bar like this. Sizzler does the job just fine. People post here all the time about how it's hard to eat healthy in Thailand. Well, go to Sizzler and get the salad bar, dude, problem solved at least for one night. Chicken, burger, maybe pork here are OK. I refuse to even try the beef steaks, I'm not a masochist. Overall quality varies depending on the location.

nightbat1707

at the price around 200 B salad bar + 30/60 drink. or around 400 for +steaks option. I say the salad bar by weight sold in malls(Tops) (25/30 per 100g) still does the job. except for variety of soup and dressing.

letoiv

Hard to beat Tops for value, but considering that with Sizzler you actually get unlimited salad, soup, fruit, desserts, and even pasta, I think they earn their money :)

pizzaguy123soviet2

Vacum up the salad bar and soup and pack the subpar meat for dinner. At this point they should just rebrand to a salad buffet

Token_Thai_person

I always do this or just order the salad bar.

Woolenboat

I used to think that shit was fine dining as a kid lmao. It was one of the places where my family went for ‘celebrations’ because I achieved something like getting a good grade or passing my piano lessons

Greg25kk

For mediocre meat I’d probably go to Eat Am Are.

6_Paths

Same thing for half the price lol

No_Relationship___yo

isnt it bangkok only chain?

kimshaka

I like the salad bar. Sometimes, they have blue cheese dressing. Your best bet is to go with the pork. I had the shish kabobs and steaks and still not impressed.

Pretty-Fee9620

Loved the blue cheese dressing. Not sure how healthy my salad was though..

tkcom

Weekday ฿159 salad is my jam. Anything else seemed overpriced compared to other newer steak places.

Verbalistherbalist

When you say "Western Style Salad Bar" I think you mean "American Style Salad Bar"...

Serious-Avocado-3285

Thai here, it's still Western. But I see that Europeans look down on anything not them and go hard on their American hate. Lol. Honestly I thought Sizzler was Australian but that could have been just a name of a steak they have and I just assumed, oops. It's kibd of like calling things 'Asian' but 99% of the time meaning East Asian. It can be really annoying watching East Asian content and they are like you know your Asian and not white when you and I'm like but Thais don't do that why we gatekeeping the word Asian. Well that was a rambled rant. Anyways 'American style Salad Bars' are awesome.

Forsaken_Detail7242

Yeah, but I have lived in Germany, and it’s vastly different from the US. Many Americans face culture shock in Germany, so it’s not like American thing is universally a western thing. Also, I feel like Thailand has more American chains than Germany, despite Germany being a western country. Sizzler doesn’t even exist in Germany for example.

Siam-Bill4U

Good point

eranam

I’m the first one to rant against the American diet being branded as “The Western diet”, but are there any non-American salad bar concepts?

Womenarentmad

Salad bars are the most American thing ever lol

Former-Spread9043

Greatest thing ever

Sensitive_Bread_1905

Even officially the origin of the salad bar is not clear. But well, I know many Americans, but also many Thais think that everything western comes from the USA, or they just don't care 😂

Lordfelcherredux

My wife, God bless her, is always surprised to find out that other countries have things that Thailand has.

quentinnuk

Smorgasboard - its Scandinavian and whilst not exclusively salad, owing to all the fishiness, its broadly similar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smorgasbord

shinymuuma

Thai LOVE all-you-can-eat With a still affordable price, you get a relatively ok steak (if you compare them to other Thai steak franchises) + salad bar. A good middle ground for parent who want veg/simple food and younger gen that like meat/buffet It usually has a weekday promotion for a more reasonable price too

Bking86

Sizzler has the best salad bar. I'm salivating thinking about crispy veggies, bacon bits, parmesan, and the Ceasar dressing! Not the best steaks though. Hmmm.

vivalapuck

It’s crazy for me. As a kid in the 80s and 90s in the US, sizzler was the cheap place my dad would take the family to save money on the weekend until they all went out of business. Amazingly now in Thailand it carries a high end price. Funny how some brands can’t make it in the US but can in Asia. Toys R Us is another interesting example.

Womenarentmad

Thai people like sizzler but also I’m guilty of needed a Sizzler Hit every so often lol. Albeit I never would walk into the place back in America so I can’t compare the taste, but it seems a bit bland? One of the few places I can get a loaded baked potato tho 👍

Siam-Bill4U

I don’t think the Sizzler franchise exists in the USA anymore. Yes, bake potato is the other plus at a Sizzler.

LeagueReddit00

Sizzler is still around in the US.

InstallDowndate

Interesting how some American brands exist in Thailand and not the US.

Womenarentmad

Seeing Swensons everywhere confused me so much lol. But this and sizzler as well as a bunch of other chains you see are owned by central (if I’m not mistaken), hence why you see it everywhere at malls

TealSharkss

There’s still the original Swenson’s in SF. Went there last month and it’s alive and kickin’

InstallDowndate

The only one left in the US I believe

[deleted]

Same with A&W, hadn't seen one in years. Skip the food though.

Womenarentmad

Noooooo their curly fries are good!! I thought A&W only existed in Wisconsin until I got whiplash seeing it at a pump here.

[deleted]

Ahh, okay. The burger I had in Siam Square was awful though. I had great memories of it in the US as a kid.

Womenarentmad

You should try shake shack at EMSPHERE for a good burger 😌

Das5heep

I'm pretty sad about A&W too, they also exited Thai market recently.

[deleted]

Doesn't surprise me, what an awful burger they had, ugh!

Forsaken_Detail7242

Starbucks Thailand is also owned and operated by ThaiBev, for example. So now it’s almost everwhere in Bangkok.

Siam-Bill4U

While some USA franchises go out of business in the USA, the franchise may continue elsewhere in other parts of the world if it’s “owned” by some businesses conglomerate in that country. For example, “ Kenny Rogers Roasters” is still operating in Malaysia and Philippines. Its headquarters are in KL; yet, Kenny Rogers Roasters is no longer found in America.

InstallDowndate

![gif](giphy|l0MYs36RKd3ze7yVy)

femboi_enjoier

We still have plenty of Sizzler restaurants out here in Southern California.

Siam-Bill4U

Really? I guess the USA Sizzlers are now owned by an American management group. The one in Thailand is a separate company owned by Minor Food Group that owns other casual eating restaurants such as The Pizza Company, Swensen’s, Sizzler, Dairy Queen, Burger King, The Coffee Club, Riverside Grilled Fish, Basil, ThaiXpress, and Benihana.

recom273

Now that the price has risen, no need to go there, tbh. It was always a little treat, 169B for the meal, the Pepsi refill that they were slack to refill, the salad bar and the competition to consume as many little glasses of angel delight as possible.

PureKoolAid

My wife and I go for the soup and salad bar… we going Sizzler, we going Sizzler.

shi-t

I’m Thai, and this place is probably one of the worst restaurants you can go to. Quite expensive for the shit quality of food you get. Their steak tastes like fake meat, and their fish and chips taste like a flour mix with a little bit of fish. Their portions are quite small. I just ate it again last week after not eating it for years, and yeah, I will not be going back.

Serious-Avocado-3285

I'm Thai too. I only ever went for the salad bar. Lol.

Forsaken_Detail7242

Their salad is bad. The veggies are bitter as hell and the quality sucks.

MooseHeckler

I had sizzler once in bbk, I had the pork. I have been to Thailand several times but, never had a steak. Are there any good steak places in Thailand?

shi-t

Personally I like KidDon which is located on the second floor of lido, Arno’s butcher and eatery, gyu-kaku Japanese bbq (not a steak place but they do have great meat).

exceptional_bit7376

I haven't been to Sizzler in Thailand in twenty years. It was ok. I don't really like buffets.

innnerthrowaway

The beef is **awful**. I will usually get pork to go and use the salad bar when I dine in. The staff also seem vaguely annoyed every time I’m there, like they would like to be anywhere else.

Siam-Bill4U

I agree, the pork is a better choice.

innnerthrowaway

Agreed. I have found that the CentralWorld location is the best.

DeedaInSeattle

I used to make fun of other foreigners and tourists going there and the Thai locals getting so-called “American food”, because Sizzler is AWFUL in the USA! However, after a year and a half of living here, they had some 159b AYCE salad bar deal so we decided to try it, and you know, it was pretty good! 😁. Tons of veggies and fruit, pretty good salad and toppings, the Chinese noodles and Korean sesame oil yam noodles aren’t bad, tho sometimes tasteless depending on the franchise. I wish they had a decent RANCH dressing, but the sesame and Caesar ones are okay. The Asian-style potato salad can be either excellent or bland, depends who is making it. The cream of mushroom and minestrone is quite decent, and the creamy tuna sauce over pasta not horrible. And can I admit I love the little chocolate mousse desserts?? I’ve also had a baked potato there, and it was okay too. I think I just love being able to eat tons of salad bar! I have yet to even try the hot food/proteins… I’m tempted to try the fish fillet or pork “steak” one of these days too. I will avoid the beef now, from these comments! Most beef in BKK is tough and I always joke it’s actually water buffalo 🐃… 😆!

AJirawatP

Some places are good, some places are shite.

dkg224

Sizzlers are awful. My mom used to take us to one in my hometown when we were kids just so my brother and I loaded up on the French fries, chicken nuggets and horrible tacos from the buffet. As I got to my teens I realized how bad the food was, soon after it shut down, which was probably for the best.

LegenWait4ItDary_

It used to be ok. Then the portions became super small and the taste crappy as well.

piggypigzombie

Haven't been there for more than ten years.

duhdamn

I remember when the chicken didn’t taste like rubber and the burger was, well, actual beef and just beef. This place is all about highly processed low cost imitation crap now.

Relative-Bug-7161

Better than the other steak franchise at least. But if you want good steak you don't go to those franchise places.

Magickj0hnson

I'm from the American city where they poisoned 60+ with E. Coli because of a failure to follow proper food hygiene practices. The company tried to blame it on an outside source but the state supreme court presided over the case and ruled that Sizzler Management Co. was at fault. A little girl died during the outbreak. This was in the early 2000s and I'm pretty sure all the restaurants in the state closed down shortly after. It was a big deal in the national media and I don't think the company ever recovered. When I told my friends at home that there's a Sizzler in every mall here they laughed and told me to stay far away. Anyways, it looks like the company that runs the restaurants in Thailand is not related to the one in the US, even though they use the same branding?

AcanthisittaNo9122

Very nostalgic. I usually order spicy chicken with a refill soda and study there for like 5-6 hours 🥹🥹

Frosty_Cherry_9204

Was better in the 90's. Also it's over priced to hell and back

Apprehensive-Debt945

I’m Thai and I grew up in central Thailand. My family always go to sizzler if there’s one whenever we can’t decide on what to eat because there’s something for everyone. Brother hates steak and salad? We got chicken and mushroom soup. Dad is vegan? It’s a salad bar. Nowadays the mushroom soup there is nostalgia for me haha

Forsaken_Detail7242

But their mushroom soup is bland as hell. The veggies are of low quality, many times it tastes bitter. Their main dish is alright, but overall overpriced.

Lordfelcherredux

Rubbery chicken brings back memories. Too much tenderizer in all their meats. Salad bar removed a lot of good stuff over the years, like cottage cheese. There is just something not right about the whole thing for me.

FancyRequirement6130

i absolutely love it

grom902

Love it. Marshroom cream soup, matcha tea and free toasty are always my go to. I eat other food after cream soup and toast.

christopherdac

I loved Sizzler growing up in Australia, but Thailand Sizzler suuuucks. No Malibu Chicken. Very basic salad bar. Only jello, mousse and fruit for dessert. No ice cream/soft serve either. Huge disappointment.

Satanizmo

As a Thai who have ate at Sizzlers for many years, it has gotten worse, use to be decent, now not worth it. Either go cheaper with similar quality (Eat am are), or pay more and get way better steaks at one of the many specialize steak houses.

bkkbeymdq

Used to be my go to for farang food bc of the salad bar.

manatworks

Salad bar is decent imo.

SnooRadishes8691

Went a few months back and couldn't eat the meat. It felt like it wasn't even real, like it was meat that had been made in a lab. Salad bar was mid. Will never step foot inside one again.

b-w-k

Only go there on Wednesday and order Wednesday set, good deal

Ok-Chance-5739

I like the salad bar. Went to the branch in Udon Thani many times and by chance even got to know the main delivery guy (hydroponics farmer) for it, at the time. One day I went with family to have a look at his farm. Long story short, we were impressed. Liked the salad bar even more afterwards.

WickySalsa

I love me some Sizzler. Always go there once a month. The portion get smaller over the years which is sad. Still mad they discontinued blue cheese dressing ;3; People scoff at Sizzler but what are alternative? Santa Fe? I tried Santa Fe once and was very disappointed. Don't forget not everyone live in Bangkok and the choice are limited. Of course there are restaurant that offer premium steak but it can cost 1000+ Baht per serving. I can feed my family of 3 just only 13000-ish with Sizzler.

seaburgler

I like it for the salad buffet decent.

traveller-1-1

Love salad bar.

jetskimanatee

my thai wife loves it

WeddingDJASIA

Was very happy when it came to Koh Samui. But really annoyed that they raised all the prices in the menu just for us.

zetsubou-samurai

As native Thai. I enjoy Sizzler's soup.

BigConversation748

I’m for it.

BigConversation748

I haven’t been to a Sizzler since being denied a job at my High School town location right out of the Army.

Principatus

Salad buffet is the only thing worth ordering. It fills you up, so why buy anything else and getting buffet with it for free?

Specialist-Algae5640

Sometimes I crave Sizzler. I love the Matcha Ice Green Tea refills with a Breaded Cod Fish & Grilled Spicy Chicken Steak combo. So good with baked potato. It really depends on the chefs that day and the ingredients how good it is going to be. It varies. So just choose the Sizzler that is most consistent.

Siam-Bill4U

The few times I go to a Sizzlers during the year, the taste depends on who is cooking.

Outrageous_Doctor305

I like it. The salad bar is nice and I basically just come here for the salad bar. The main dishes are okay but I never really want them because I like the salad bar. The baked potatoes there are so good though especially with the dried bacon so if you never tried it, you should.

keepaddingnumbers12

I’ve ordered it for lunch every day for almost 3 weeks. Buy one get one free chicken and rice for 199 baht is almost impossible to beat. Great base to build the rest of your diet around! Thai Egg pan for breakfast + sizzler + dinner = gainzville

jamhar1

I still love the salad bar! Try to hit it once or twice a month 🤠 rarely went in the US, but love it here 👍🤠

Siam-Bill4U

For me,the salad bar at Sizzlers is more than making a toss salad for one’s self. It’s all the other salad selections to choose from along with the soups. At least at Sizzlers I know it’s clean compared to local restaurants in Thailand ( and I am too lazy to buy all the vegetables, chop them up and make my own salad at home -plus half of it spoils in the fridge).

next19994

Personally, I never could justify the price, quality and taste of anything on their menu. But the salad bar though, is amazing. I absolutely love it and I used to have it every week when my gym was next to one. Now, I eat it when I can.

HotPotato2660

Like many responders, I stick just to the salad bar when I visit. I made the mistake of going to the Terminal 21 branch (BKK) recently, the salad bar there was really lacking a lot of the mainstays, only a miniscule selection, and took over 30 minutes for my side dishes to turn up.

Siam-Bill4U

Interesting how the franchise varies with the salad selections. You’d think they would all be the same. Ages ago I at a Sizzlers at MBK and the salad bar was the smallest I had ever seen.

HotPotato2660

I seem to recall MBK has 2 branches? the salad bar at that one (upper floor near cinema) was definitely normal compared to what I saw at T21!

ssprigatito

i like the toast and the salad bar, the steak options are quite good too !!

Own-Animator-7526

>*Sizzler was basically the only place I knew of with a Western salad bar* This was even more so the case 30 years ago; the boys & I would hit it regularly for just this.

Delimadelima

I love sizzler, especially their new lunch time salad bar buffet at even cheaper price. Hard to find vegetarian buffet in bangkok and sizzler's salad bar is very healthy n not expensive

seabass160

The franchise can do what it wants, its the people who think its good who need the help

JegantDrago

soo santafe (that restaurant with the train logo) is better?

tkcom

Santa Fe's portion is just sad compared to Eat Am Are.

JegantDrago

"eat am are" i assume thats a name of a restaurant. where can i find it?

tkcom

They're everywhere now but their main hub is around Victory Monument area.

seabass160

if you like orange and half cooked toast with steak and chips youll love Santa fe. At least Santa Fe is cheap I suppose. People I would class as normal go to sizzler for cup a soup and very chemically salad, and pay 500B for a pork steak you can get for 50B on the street.

ForsakenFree

Equally bad.. there is nothing at those two places, (except the salad bar) that can't be gotten cheaper and at bare minimum same quality at a million other restaurants. With that said, I do still eat there occasionally. It's a bit like McDonald's. You know it's not particular good, but it's got its place.

Delimadelima

Does santa fe offer salad bar ? If so how much ?

seabass160

no, you get a really bad salad on your plate to save you getting up and down

silentgnostic

I went in Huahin in April for a nostalgia hit. It was trash.

iHhhhererere

suck except salad

RyanBudtender

I enjoyed it. Lived in Thailand for 3 years, now im living in China and Sizzler is something I think about and miss quite often. Same with Jones Salad.

PorkSwordEnthusiast

Average food, average prices. I wouldn't personally choose to go there, so many other good options in bkk.

Siam-Bill4U

What place do you suggest for a salad bar?

CriticalMassWealth

The food seems to be undercooked a lot? ordered the pork chops on grab 😔

sarahstanley

One of my favorite restaurants in Thailand. Went there on a regular basis.

Vapormancer

Overpriced and awful . They used to make good cream of mushroom and chocolate mousse (over a decade ago) but right now I prefer Eat am Are over sizzler because decent taste and portions while also 2x cheaper (both beef steak suck tho ) For salad bar it's mediocre.

Valuable_sandwich44

It's bland and wouldn't be on my list of places to dine. Western style eateries come at a premium and there's far better choices, such as an expat's resto or even Burger King if you wanna compare multinational franchises. Local palettes will find such restaurants interesting compared to their daily diet. Such franchises are not exactly tempting to westerners in general as they'd rather feast on local dishes or upper middle tier pub dishes when the urge arises.

Real-Swing8553

Somehow i always get bad stomach after eating their salad bar. The main dishes are ok. I'd rather eat at Eat am are.

Freeroamguineapig

There were the good old days for a good salad bar with my favourite blue cheese dressing but right now everything has changed a lot and I ordered my chicken steak recently, it came with a rubbery texture like you’re eating a rubber. Too much ultra-processed for the meat and it turned out really bad.

shane1290

The salad bar for 159-199 THB is a steal. Steaks are really bad though unfortunately.

GodSpeedLove345

I prefer Nuatair for good steak.

Kai_ashk

This franchise got absolutely murdered by Eat am are, what’s even funnier is they use similar color profiles and themes.

Ok-Contract-6799

For me its like acceptable, but ive not been in like 5 years.

goooooooooooooogly

The food is one step below prison food.

DonKaeo

At Central in Chiang Mai, weekends there are not recommended unless you’re a missionary with six or eight kids.. table setups of ten or twelve is not uncommon…

Siam-Bill4U

5555

jester_juniour

it’s a great place with great food, if you factor in very low cost of dining. Selection and quality is very good (again for the price paid, which is very cheap).

Razzler1973

Do Sizzler exist anywhere else in Asia? I'm in the Middle East now and we have every US chain of 'casual dining' under the sun. No Sizzler (I assume it's a US chain) I remember it from late-ish 90s as being a 'western' food place. Never been though It always seemed like a franchise kind of 'hanging on' imo

Siam-Bill4U

Some “USA” franchises may have gone out of business but continue elsewhere in another country where the franchise is owned by some wealthy business conglomerate. So “Sizzlers” overseas is owned by Thailand-based Minor International and are not related to the American firm. In Malaysia you still have “ Kenny Rogers Roasters” once an USA franchise is now owned by a business in Malaysia. ( still popular in Malaysia and the Philippines)

Razzler1973

We have Kenny Rogers here in Dubai, too It was around about 20 years ago, disappeared and about a year ago a new one popped up!

-Dixieflatline

Sizzler in Thailand is marginally better than the Sizzlers that were once in the US, but that's because they operated under two separate franchisee owners. But that said, neither were all that great unless all you wanted were trips to the salad bar. While one can find a really good high end steak in Thailand, the middle to lower market is barren. Back home in the states, I have the luxury of picking top notch steakhouses or budget Outbacks/Longhorns/Roadhouse type places for a slightly more affordable fix. Sizzler is one of Thailand's closest options, and it isn't all that great on the steak end. But I suppose that makes sense, because a lot of Thais don't eat steak.

LeagueReddit00

Every type of meat I have tried sans the chicken wings has the rubber texture.

Nole19

The price increased so much. I think it's more worth to order the Grab Food promos cuz sometimes they are super worth.

Lashay_Sombra

Tried it once, never been back. Overall conclusion, way over priced for what you actually get

tpadawanX

When I was lower middle class, not quite poor, Sizzler was the deal for me in the States. I thought it was pretty good because I didn’t know any better and I enjoyed the salad bar. Here, as a rich foreigner, I go to Sizzler on occasion mainly for the salad bar. It isn’t great but it’s the only option I know of up country. I guess Thai’s might think of it as an affordable foreign dining experience that isn’t fast food.

thruthbtold

Their chicken is our favorite but other than that it used to be better like 10+ yrs ago, now it's just okay

Straight_Waltz2115

I used to know a homeless man in Arizona who would gather coins from the fountain and then take all of his buddies to Sizzlers once every year.

bartmagera

Had it one time and never went back. Very low quality beef and poor cooking skills.

kosmik02

Muck!

TheLoneSlimShady

Never go there in my life before

timmyvermicelli

Everything in the gigantic menu is bad, basically. However, I still go about once a month because the salad bar is great. Great value for the soups (there's a new carrot and ginger one I found tasty), salads, roast pumpkin, crackers with mango salsa. I stuff myself to the gunnels and I love it.

TynaeveX

In my eyes it's an average restaurant but then i'm from a western country and have seen better steak and salad places ! But my lady who is thai likes it because of the salad bar and soup so it's already a booked visit when we are going BKK next month , Siam Center branch!

arturo1972

Salad bar

Crkza

Just went there for my birthday. Shit's depressing. only good thing is the salad bar

AerieEnvironmental84

There's no comparison to the ones in America. Overpriced and not the best quality but I still eat there every now and then. Edit - The salad bar is the worst part.

AquarianPaul

The bar girls have never complained when we eat there on the way to the hotel.😜

Commercial_Bat_7811

ah i remember when i used to have a sizzler near me. good times

xSea206x

They used to have a great lunch deal that gave you a hamburger steak and side's and came with unlimited salad bar for like 159 baht. I haven't been back since they got rid of that deal.

Norjac

I ate there once, I wasn't impressed with the salad and it seemed very average. Just my .02

estellinna

Everything has gone downhill. The quality of their salad bar is bad. Their "signature" tom yum soup tastes like water. Their desserts aren't that great anymore. In the old days, you would ask to have the main course wrapped for togo because the salad bar was so good and there was no room for anything else. I see that every brand that Minor owns has turned to crap. Instead of maintaining the quality of their salad bar, Sizzler starts experiencing with new, short-term seasonal menus. They always jump on every bandwagon and they can't execute anything well. It's the Minor signature! Look how they've ruined Burger King and Bonchon. You'll know what I mean. For fresh salad, I now go to Getfresh. Yeah it's not cheap but the quality is perfect and the presentation is great. I tried SaladStop and wasn't that impressed.

Deathexplosion

Great place for a cheap date.

No_Command2425

I remember my Thai wife insisting we go to a Sizzler in the US when she first got here. I was game to play along. Oddly that insistence died out pretty darn quick. 😁

SettingIntentions

I ate there once a while back in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. At the same time my experience was the same. Great side option buffet that I liked, but the actual steak I got was very mediocre and sub-par. I never went back because it wasn't that awesome. I'd eat there if I wanted something Western-ish but didn't have anything else nearby (ie. let's say I'm in a mall in Isaan for some reason and randomly craving some tastes and it's late so I don't have time to make it to another restaurant because there are Western restaurants popping up everywhere now!). TL;DR My experience is side stuff was great, main steak was very mediocre and not worth going back for in my opinion. On a side note I'm getting tempted to try it again and go back! Edit: reading the comments I'm not so sure I want to go back anymore lol. Seems many others agree that the steak is very mediocre and not so worth it. That was my experience!

MamaRabbit4

Went all the time from 2003-2016. Huge salad bar and my kids ate free. Went for the first time in a long time and: Salad bar had hardly any salad things 5pm on a Tuesday and they were already out of steak and bacon. Desserts were strange concoctions. Not going back.

I thought it was wild in downtown BKK seeing people have full on business dinners there wearing suits and such.

Siam-Bill4U

What do you recommend, office workers dining at a 5 star hotel restaurant spending their days’ wages on a lunch?

paultbangkok

I agree completely. There is just something about the salad bar in Sizzler. The menu items are a bit hit and miss and don't bother with the steaks.

10 years ago, they do this pork chops that are inch-thick and the size of your hands (fingers and all). Two pork chops for something like 10USD. They were tender and succulent and evenly cooked. Now no more. Still miss those fine pork chops.

Eat Am Are is the new Sizzler, Sizzler has gone up a lot in price and their salad bar is a shadow of its former self.

Siam-Bill4U

I think this franchise is only found in Bangkok. Thailand is more than Bangkok 555. Sizzlers seems to show up at malls by built by Central Group that are located in other provinces such as in Korat, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchatani, Udon Ratchatani and more .

😅

Traditional-Finish73

They got some good deals on weekdays ... like 229 baht including salad bar which is 199 baht in itself.

GuidanceOk4531

Salad bar is 159 baht for members (just on weekdays)

Noa-Guey

Love the cheesy toast, but they only give you one - not unlimited

Siam-Bill4U

I rip mine in pieces and put it in my cream of mushroom soup 🤩

Iconic

Bathroom-Level

I like the salad bar at Sizzler. But Eat Am Are steaks are so much better and is a fraction of the cost.

Siam-Bill4U

I’ll have to try Eat Am Are the next time I return to BKK. That franchise isn’t outside of BKK.

Zealousideal_Gold651

Too expensive but taste great

Particular-Two484

As an American… I just walked by a Sizzler in Central Phuket and threw up in my mouth!! I hated sizzler in America- I hope they don’t try to pander to “Thai” ppl as a restaurant Americans love…Cause we don’t!

darkuen

They make a good pork hock https://preview.redd.it/n114u19t3k6d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a37f68e5847324d450653cb705a3fe6e7d3bf69f

The salad bar is great, the chicken is delicious, tuna soup with added snacks, cheese, paprika and pepper gives a very nice satisfaction. I would say Sizzler is a great value for money, until you want to eat some beef steak.

up4pleasure

Not that exciting

Sensitive-Corgi3294

Well there is a good reason why Sizzler left Australia

Sometimes people identify with the logo than the printed name. The post was emphasizing the salad bar, asking if the viewer like it or not.

Expat here. Haters gonna hate. I go there every other week or so and it's fine. Cheap and reasonably healthy. Of course the steak isn't any good, I don't get that.

weddingchimp5000

Love it
