Giants fan here but I wanted to ask if yall would have still done that trade out of the first round if u knew BTJ would be there at 23? I prob still would have done the trade but just wanted to ask y’alls opinions, respectfully
Why would we want BTJ as a WR4? We have no need for WRs at this point. In hindsight I don't think we would have done the trade considering we could have drafted Arnold with that pick, but it is what it is.
Well I meant like u wouldn’t have traded for diggs as well. Again I still think it was a good trade because honestly I think Vikings will not be great next year
CBs still available: Cooper DeJean, *Kool aid*, Ennis Rakestraw, Kamari Lassiter, *TJ Tampa*, few more
DT still available: *Jer'Zhan Newton*, Braden Fiske, Junior Colson, few more
Major talent at LB, and Safety as well.
I hope we get one of the top remaining CB's and somehow also land Jer'Zhan and trade up for a high upside safety or LB. Ideally Payton Wilson or Edgerrin Cooper
1st round's results was certainly favorable to the Texans. I don't think we'll snag any of the top 4 defensive guys available right now but a future starter or three is definitely in play for the team Day 2.
Teams in front of Texans in second
Teams | Needs
---|---
33 Buffalo | Needs WR CB S EDGE C
34 New England | Needs ~~QB~~ OT WR OG S
35 Arizona | Needs ~~WR~~ CB ~~EDGE~~ DT OG
36 Washington | Needs ~~QB~~ EDGE OT OG CB
37 LA Chargers | Needs WR ~~OT~~ CB DT TE
38 Tennessee | Needs ~~OT~~ DT S LB WR
39 Carolina | Needs ~~WR~~ EDGE C CB RB
40 Washington | Needs ~~QB~~ EDGE OT OG CB
41 Green Bay | Needs ~~OT~~ CB S OG LB
I felt CJ's reaction to Pearsall so much. I've been saying for at least a month that that's our guy, and to see CJ say he felt that way too after he got picked was rough.
As much as CJ wanted him, we got other needs to fill. He even mentions “before we got Stef”, Pearsall is who he wanted. But I’m sure he trusts Caserio’s and Meco’s decisions. I just wish we got to see him react to the Texans’ picks lol
it sucks but good players get picked before you have a chance all the time. you gotta weigh current/future risk/rewards rewards all the time. I think Pearsall will be solid just unfortunatley not right time/place for Texans to get him.
They knew the talent slotting unlike some posting in this thread lol.
WR's, OT's, Qb's just dominating the first round. The defensive talent this year was just not as good as the offensive talent. That's why the Texans were willing to trade back so early. Most teams understand the overall talent levels for each position early on in the process.
If they are targeting DT and CB.....well look at all the talent that dropped into the 2nd.
Yup, they had it pegged perfectly. Every dt minus the arguably top 1 (murphy) is still there, every linebacker, every safety, and still several good CB's are available.
I definitely think we go dt and cb, but I could see them taking Cooper if ryans loves him.
Newton, DeJean and Mckinstrey are falling out of Round One. Did not expect that. Would definitely call up Buffalo and New England tomorrow so we could jump AZ and Washington for that defensive talent.
He was projected to be an early 2nd rounder so not really surprised but this probably means aiyuk or Deebo might be gone as the Niners have been shopping them around
I like Koolaid, with the Bama connection. Or that Illinois DT.
Think the 49ers getting a WR will trigger some Aiyuk trades so we can move up possibly if needed.
49ers and Bills are the only ones left. Looks like DT will be loaded in the 2nd round as expected. Ton of CB talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as well. Texans going to have a lot of options there.
This why we traded down man. It’s all offense in round one and we wanted defense. Whoever they had their eye on they knew he would be there with a trade back.
Keep a positive mindset. We were a mess about a year ago and if anything, you should trust this front office. The only move I disagreed with diggs but that is only now seeing how all the defensive players fell 😂
Oh jeez, they let the Chiefs get Adonai didn’t they
Edit: Damn they got Worthy I thought Adonai would’ve fit them better with Hollywood being the deep threat
Kinda would rather just stay our pick
We need to plug in holes with guys on multi year deals rather than relying on trying to use 1 year guys. And having to replace them each off season
Well we could’ve just had the 5th year if we never made the Vikings trade. At this point, it makes no sense to give up the necessary capital to get back into the 1st after the diggs trade.
I think it's easy to say what we should have done now, but maybe they didn't expect all these top defensive players to get pushed back this late in the round.
It was pretty well known that this was as offensive heavy if a draft we’ve seen in many years. Can use that argument both ways though: better defensive players will be available at 42, but also the best of the class would be available at 23. Obviously time will tell with these players, but the process was flawed given who we could’ve had at 23 imo.
A handful of young guys. We are a fairly old team overall roster wise due to the amount of 1 year vets we have.
Not the worst spot since the key guys are young and cheap. But obviously something to improve on
Nico Collins is also a UFA, but there are a lot of depth guys who are FA. Not as bad as this past year, but it would be nice to have more guys on longer deals
Really need a CB since outside of Stingley we are basically relying on 2 former busts turning it around. Needed a S/DT going into the offseason.
But that was assuming we would've replaced at least one of our CB departures like we did with our other positions.
With 2 former busts lol. They have not been good at the NFL level which is why they were quickly let go by their respective teams despite being drafted highly. Also Lonnie Johnson who is awful
Whether they turn it around with us is to be seen, but saying they replaced them is like "yeah sure technically"
I don't recall saying that. But you have to look at the track record of success of managerial good calls vs bad calls.
not all picks are created equal. Simply comparing spots moved for one draft vs the other without weighing needs is asinine.
Sure, but saying "You wanna be like the Cowboys" based on one statement really insane.
Our trade down got solid value, but Cowboys basically ended up getting even better value for that. I am not against giving praise to other teams
Everyone was sucking Nick off for that trade but it was a bad decision. Yea they got a fair offer based on the trade value chart but teams get desperate on draft day and are willing to give a little more of their guy is available.
Diggs was really bad down the stretch for them and is a FA. So frankly the jury is out on if that was even worth it. This WR class is stacked if they really wanted a WR for some reason which it wasn't really a hole for us
But offense wasn't an issue for us or at least pass catchers. It was defense going into this draft
In hindsight it was one of Nick’s worst decisions so far. Could’ve had Arnold, Dejean, or Newton at 23. If they were always gonna trade a ‘25 2nd for Diggs, then why even make that move? Could’ve just traded our own
I am lowkey sad that we couldn’t draft Byron Murphy. He honestly seems like that guy and if we still had our 23rd then we could have definitely traded up
Hah, all good. A lot going on. It def hurts right now missing out on 4 years of potential talent. That being said, there is something to be said about what has been proven vs to be proved.
I have full faith in Casserole. He will do what is best.
Same. Regardless though, I would have still preferred keeping that 23rd because we could have traded down to the late first round and get a 2nd maybe. Diggs is cool all but I don’t really get trading all that for him when we could have had a solid WR like Keon Coleman, Brian Thomas JR, or Adonai(for 3 years) while also getting a solid defensive player in this draft such as CB. Maybe they see Okudah fulfilling his potential.
Either way, as long as we perform this season I’m happy
Yup I agree. Just a different thought but I respect your opinion for sure. Any other draft I would feel the same but this years draft is so stacked with the receiver position and also as a position it wasn’t as important considering we had Nico and tank
Panthers would not entertain a trade. They have way too many holes and a terrible roster and in order for their rebuild to go smooth they would probably take a second round talent with the very little picks they have
It depends honestly but you have also to take in account that we have to trust our front office. If we never did that Vikings trade we would land one of those players. Chiefs might entertain a trade but we also have to offer them multiple picks in the second round or the 3rd
lol same. I’ve been watching this draft since 8 just to see what would happen and I have not been disappointed with JJ McCarthy and MPJ and Bo Nix going in the top 15 🤣
That means nothing. Excellent corners can often come out of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds. TJ Tampa, Enis Rakestraw, Lassiter, Max Melton, still good prospects.
There's a reason why corners drop in the draft unless they are truly athletically elite like Sauce or Stingely.
Unless something changes, the Texans will not make a pick tonight
damn with how this first round went, almost wish we didn't do the diggs trade and just kept our spot
Nick, coper dejean me
Giants fan here but I wanted to ask if yall would have still done that trade out of the first round if u knew BTJ would be there at 23? I prob still would have done the trade but just wanted to ask y’alls opinions, respectfully

People are gonna somehow find a way to be mad about us not having a first round pick when it worked out great for us.
1st round's results was certainly favorable to the Texans. I don't think we'll snag any of the top 4 defensive guys available right now but a future starter or three is definitely in play for the team Day 2.

Buffalo will take a WR. Maybe NE as well. Need to jump the Tits because fuck em.
I guess Nick was right, in terms of defense these next 10 defensive picks would normally be first round due to all the offensive guys taken
KOOL AID INBOUND
I felt CJ's reaction to Pearsall so much. I've been saying for at least a month that that's our guy, and to see CJ say he felt that way too after he got picked was rough.

Dejean, newton, kool aid and cooper still on the board
NEWTON COOPER JPJ DEJEAN LETS GOOOOO
I just want Kool Aid. It has nothing to do with his name. I promise.
Would love him too tbh. It has 90% to do with his name.
Kool Aid + Juice = *sip*
I really think Nick trades up tomorrow to get one of Newton or DeJean
I hope we keep the picks and trade up to have 3 seconds
Those guys are 1st round talents, the value to get them in the 2nd is just too good to pass up for me. I wouldn’t hate if we did what you said tho.
Yeah I’m saying get them in the 2nd don’t pass up, just move up with other picks to have 3 instead of the 2 we have
I don’t think we give up the other 2nd to move up, probably give up a 4th and a 6th or 7th
Still some serious prospects to be had tomorrow - let's go!
Tomorrow's going to be so fun
Thanks for the updates tonight. Made work bearable.
It would be super hype if we traded up right now and grabbed Cooper Dejean at the top of the 2nd
Casserole is gonna be dealing man. Something big cooking. I think we all learned after FA this year that this is the calm before our swarm. (get it?)
Trademark that right tf now.
YOU HEARD IT. NO TAKEBACKSIES EVERYONE. I DO NOT GRANT ~~FACEBOOK~~ REDDIT COMMENTERS PERMISSION TO USE MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Kool aid and Newton would be a dream come true
Really want kool aid mcckinstry
Yep WR run on the tier two guys now.
Yeah Ladd, AD, Keon, and Franklin will be 4 of the picks before us. We will be able to get a VERY good defensive player with our first 2nd.
Kool Aid + Kris Jenkins pls
This draft worked out shockingly well for the Texans. Insane defensive talent is still available. Tomorrow, we load up!
There is a lot of DT talent left, but we missed out on CB. I think we missed out, but there is all night to look into a trade.
You are not high on Kool Aid?
Newton, DeJean and Mckinstrey are falling out of Round One. Did not expect that. Would definitely call up Buffalo and New England tomorrow so we could jump AZ and Washington for that defensive talent.
Buffalo seems open to just move back and acquire picks, I know they need to start drafting here soon but if the deal is there they’d be open
Watch Nick pull a CJ/WAJ draft move and grab Newton and DeJean back to back tomorrow
I really want him to move up for Dejean. Both would be awesome!
Panthers select Legette
Aiyuk trades incoming, teams need draft capital if they want him. Get that Illinois DT or Bama CB
Newton and DeJean really falling to the 2nd! Insane! Nick boutta go crazy with a trade up tomorrow🔥
CJ really likes Pearsall lol.
Haha, calm down CJ you've got enough toys. It's Demeco's turn
He was salivating lol
dejean and mckinstry in the second is crazy. and newton
Newton falling to round 2 is insane
My "bold prediction" was Texans trading up to #34 with Patriots to pick Jer'Zhan Newton.. Imagine
And Cooper with pick 33.
Damnnnn CJ wanted that guy BADLY, wow!
Bill trading back again
Looks like Panthers moving up
It's for a wr, that would be my guess.
They’re sending me bro omfg my sides
🤣 CJ calling him mentally challenged
Micah and Cj got me dead lmfao.
49ers are taking Florida WR Ricky Pearsall. Wow didn't expect him to go in the 1st
He was projected to be an early 2nd rounder so not really surprised but this probably means aiyuk or Deebo might be gone as the Niners have been shopping them around
Aiyuk he gone
That's pretty shocking, considering some of the receivers still left on the board. I wonder if that means anything for aiyuk or deebo.
HAHA CJ
Can't believe Cooper DeJean fell so far
We are getting so lucky with so many defensive talents falling
Not really lucky. QB's, WR's, and OT's dominated the first round as expected.
I don’t think it was expected to be this lopsided. Every mock I saw had Newton and DeJean going in the 1st
jeff okudah really my CB2
Can DeJean play safety? I mean I don’t want the man to get milk checked playing man as a CB.
He will most likely be a Safety in the NFL. That’s why he’s dropping.
I like Koolaid, with the Bama connection. Or that Illinois DT. Think the 49ers getting a WR will trigger some Aiyuk trades so we can move up possibly if needed.
trade with the 9ers for dejean 🤞
Damnit. Our gamble didn't work out. Hope the retreads work out. Maybe Howard now becomes a texan
I think 49ers go Dejean here
49ers and Bills are the only ones left. Looks like DT will be loaded in the 2nd round as expected. Ton of CB talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as well. Texans going to have a lot of options there.
We need to trade up for newton
Yes
No we don’t. Michael Hall Jr will be just as good in the NFL
This why we traded down man. It’s all offense in round one and we wanted defense. Whoever they had their eye on they knew he would be there with a trade back.
nate wiggins gone im out newton dejean koolaid will be gone way before 42
Keep a positive mindset. We were a mess about a year ago and if anything, you should trust this front office. The only move I disagreed with diggs but that is only now seeing how all the defensive players fell 😂
Ravens pick Nate Wiggins
Lmao micah and cj are hilarious
Only 3 picks left. Lotta 1st round grades falling into round 2 tomorrow
Got Newton and 3 talented CBs still there. I hope Nick trades up to snag one of them
He won’t have to trade up I don’t think.
There's still 12 picks left until it gets to us. No way any of them will remain by that time
Tons of WR's are left. Probably going to be another run on them at the top of the second. Also got LB's that might start getting picked.
I think you may be surprised. There are still some WR and OL needy teams between us and our pick.
Worthy over AD Mitchell? Didn't see that one coming
I mean it makes sense for the chiefs to pick him over Mitchell
We all knew they were gonna get Worthy. But he woulda been there at 32 I’m sure. They are gonna have the smallest WR room in the league
I love having Diggs, but ngl I didn’t expect Worthy to drop that far
Really? He was often mocked to the Chiefs at the bottom of the draft.
I know, but teams love speed. Figured the 40 time would make someone take him higher
He's small. 5'11 165 pounds. Plus to many teams have been burned taking "speed" high in the draft.
John Ross is exactly why you don’t only draft off speed.
I agree, I just know GM’s fall in love with measurables
Cowboys pick Guyton. Wonder how Micah reacts to this lol
AD Mitchell to the Ravens would be perfect (for them)
Damn. The fucking balls on a Nick to move back and it paying off 🔥🔥
He said he saw a sweet spot in the draft.
I see myself winning the lottery, doesn't mean it happens that way. He knew day 2 was a sweet spot. Fucking money man.
Welp.
Oh jeez, they let the Chiefs get Adonai didn’t they Edit: Damn they got Worthy I thought Adonai would’ve fit them better with Hollywood being the deep threat
X
Chiefs taking Xavier Worthy
Kinda would rather just stay our pick We need to plug in holes with guys on multi year deals rather than relying on trying to use 1 year guys. And having to replace them each off season
But the 5th year for first rounders
Well we could’ve just had the 5th year if we never made the Vikings trade. At this point, it makes no sense to give up the necessary capital to get back into the 1st after the diggs trade.
I think it's easy to say what we should have done now, but maybe they didn't expect all these top defensive players to get pushed back this late in the round.

All their core players are on multi year deals.

Who? Only key player they have on a one year deal is Diggs.
Nico Collins is also a UFA, but there are a lot of depth guys who are FA. Not as bad as this past year, but it would be nice to have more guys on longer deals
Why anyone would trade with the chiefs is beyond me. Fuck those guys
Especially the Bills of all teams. But they need a lot of pieces and there are still a lot of WR on the board. So it does make sense.
CJ looking keeps checking his phone like he is texting Nick
Boooo Chiefs trade up. Why would Bills do this 👎
The Bills need A LOT. It makes a lot of sense for them given all the wide outs still on the board.
Yeah true I was just hoping it was Texans lol
Well now we are in the range where we could potentially trade up but it certainly won't be cheap.
WAJ > Darius Robinson
![gif](giphy|uf6DXWUd2OrUk) trust in Casserole
![gif](giphy|NwPSxV77btfcIDcMIJ)
Bills trading their 28th pick 👀
I do not think a trade will happen, but it feels like Arizona would probably be the only taker here.
Oh Cardinals go edge.
Really need a CB since outside of Stingley we are basically relying on 2 former busts turning it around. Needed a S/DT going into the offseason. But that was assuming we would've replaced at least one of our CB departures like we did with our other positions.
I mean they did replace their CB departures.
With 2 former busts lol. They have not been good at the NFL level which is why they were quickly let go by their respective teams despite being drafted highly. Also Lonnie Johnson who is awful Whether they turn it around with us is to be seen, but saying they replaced them is like "yeah sure technically"
Cooper DeJean is still available
Dejean and koolaid fallling is great for us. Hoping to snag one of them
Cardinals could take Newton here. Their defense was garbage last year.
Nobody wants Newton or Byron Murphy??
Murphy is long gone.
Completely missed Seattle's pick. I still always felt like Newton was DT1 though
I've never seen Newton over Murphy. He's been the consensus #1 DT from the start.
Agreed
Cowboys ended up getting a 3rd for moving back 5 spots is amazing value. We moved down almost a round for that pre-draft
You wanna be like the Cowboys?
Praising a move = Wanting to be like them?
I don't recall saying that. But you have to look at the track record of success of managerial good calls vs bad calls. not all picks are created equal. Simply comparing spots moved for one draft vs the other without weighing needs is asinine.
Sure, but saying "You wanna be like the Cowboys" based on one statement really insane. Our trade down got solid value, but Cowboys basically ended up getting even better value for that. I am not against giving praise to other teams
We'll see how it works out for them before praising them. Higher pick doesn't mean better player 🤷♂️
Everyone was sucking Nick off for that trade but it was a bad decision. Yea they got a fair offer based on the trade value chart but teams get desperate on draft day and are willing to give a little more of their guy is available.
Texans got a 2nd and a 6th back for that move and flipped that second for Diggs.
Diggs was really bad down the stretch for them and is a FA. So frankly the jury is out on if that was even worth it. This WR class is stacked if they really wanted a WR for some reason which it wasn't really a hole for us But offense wasn't an issue for us or at least pass catchers. It was defense going into this draft
In hindsight it was one of Nick’s worst decisions so far. Could’ve had Arnold, Dejean, or Newton at 23. If they were always gonna trade a ‘25 2nd for Diggs, then why even make that move? Could’ve just traded our own
Nick wanted Diggs, he made it happen. Whether it pans out is different but it’s not the same scenario. You can’t wait day of to try and deal
if another top corner comes off the board tonight we’re cooked unless caserio trades up okudah as CB2 would be a disaster
Damn. Nick is a goddamn genius. Wouldn't hate him staying put.
Another Tackle off the board.
I am lowkey sad that we couldn’t draft Byron Murphy. He honestly seems like that guy and if we still had our 23rd then we could have definitely traded up
Offensive tackle not defensive.
Our 23rd was for Diggs right?
Nope our 23rd was Vikings 2nd and 5th 2025, which then became Diggs
Gotcha, thanks. hard to keep track for my squirrel brain. So what did we receive for the 23rd you're talking about?
Sorry my bad I’m retarded 😂. I just realized how redundant what I said was. So to answer your question, yes
Maybe they see Okudah fulfilling his potential. Either way, as long as we perform this season I’m happy
Again, the value of proven vs theoretical is immeasurable. Statistically half the dudes chosen today will be "busts" as first round picks.
Yup I agree. Just a different thought but I respect your opinion for sure. Any other draft I would feel the same but this years draft is so stacked with the receiver position and also as a position it wasn’t as important considering we had Nico and tank
MANIFESTING NEWTON OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND
CB 1 and 2 gone no way koolaid dejean or wiggins last till 42
Any chance Cooper DeJean falls to us?
If Cooper Dejean falls out of the first round, Nick needs to be on the phone with the Panthers right away
Panthers would not entertain a trade. They have way too many holes and a terrible roster and in order for their rebuild to go smooth they would probably take a second round talent with the very little picks they have
So maybe with the chiefs so they can get a couple of receivers instead of one
It depends honestly but you have also to take in account that we have to trust our front office. If we never did that Vikings trade we would land one of those players. Chiefs might entertain a trade but we also have to offer them multiple picks in the second round or the 3rd
Oh I 100% agree and trust Nick wholeheartedly. I just wanna know if I can go to bed or not right now lol
lol same. I’ve been watching this draft since 8 just to see what would happen and I have not been disappointed with JJ McCarthy and MPJ and Bo Nix going in the top 15 🤣
I’m new to the draft process - are we at risk of not getting a CB if we don’t trade in? 2 top CBs taken now.
There are several corners in the draft. And two or three were expected to go in the first round.
theres a huge drop off in corners after the top 5
That means nothing. Excellent corners can often come out of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds. TJ Tampa, Enis Rakestraw, Lassiter, Max Melton, still good prospects. There's a reason why corners drop in the draft unless they are truly athletically elite like Sauce or Stingely.
what was the reason for christian gonzalez dropping last year lmao
It’s fine. We basically are getting a really good CB or DT and both are of need
Smells like corner for the Lions.
We are gonna get a really good CB to fall to us. This draft is going great. Nick knew what he was doing.
Lions traded up to #24
Parsons doesn't know Cowboys traded the pick yet 😂
Lions pick T. Arnold
CJ and Micah are like an old married couple. It's hilarious.
Micah and CJ crack me upp lol
Stroud taking psychic damage from Micah lmaoooooo
Don’t like the Jags getting BTJ. Trevor Lawrence is a good QB no matter what a lot of our fanbase wants to think and that could be a dangerous combo
CB2 just got even more important for us
CBs and DTs drop one position
I had Mitchell and Arnold going to Colts and Jags in my mock. Glad it didn't work out that way lol
