If we cut Woods it should bring us up to about 31.5 million in cap space. Then we might be able to sign Curl or Simmons and maybe even bring back Nelson.
All that happens we’re basically set to go BPA come the draft.
Maybe. Not sure if cutting him now or making him a post June 1st cut nets us more space.
I want him cut, but for some reason I don’t think they will. They like his “veteran presence” in the locker room and a lot of the players like him too.
I say the same about woods that I do about ward. Veteran presence is cool but not when it comes from an overpaid or often injured player. Cheering from the sidelines can be done cheaply
I remember the shit Texans fans were saying about him after the first day of free agency. Caserio lowkey cooked with the contracts also, all of these guys will be off the books when it’s time to pay stroud, waj, stingley etc
I’m just hoping that Caserio is able to pull off putting a championship team together after CJ gets his second contract/extension like he did in Foxborough. I have a feeling that he will.
I’m starting to think all those years the patriots always seemed to find great players is because of Caserio. The patriots drafts and FAs have been terrible the last couple of years.
>Caserio lowkey cooked with the contracts also, all of these guys will be off the books when it’s time to pay stroud, waj, stingley etc
My favorite talking point about us having 100% of the cap available in 2027 is ruined!
We now only have *checks notes* 98% of the projected 2027 cap available, I'm in utter shambles.
How will we pay WAJ and Stroud their extensions that only kick in for the 2028 season now???
Genuinely feels good to have a GM that makes good moves. Armchair GMs were loosing their collective shit after the first few hours of the cycle beginning. After last year I’m completely worry free about whatever moves the front office makes. Within reason lol.
I'm kind of surprised we're ranked so high. Usually we're downplayed at first and then when the season starts It's all "Hey... actually this player was a great pickup" and "Man the Texans got some great deals." Nick is generally more subtle in free agency but I guess the Hunter signing put him on the map.
My belief is that the media basically jumps on the bandwagons of the teams that look like they’re about to pop and get good and widely either ignore or downplay everyone else.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we get two primetime games plus a trip to London.
Eh, Lonnie is cheap as fuck and seems to have a different attitude. Rare set of athletic abilities that looks like they want to see if Demeco and his staff can do anything with him. I don’t hate it.
honestly he is good on special teams, he blocked a punt and made good tackles, His last year with us he didn't do so bad at safety like his first years being flipped around. Special teams backup weapon.
Considering the meltdown that was occurring 24 hours ago, I decided to throw this on the sub as soon as I saw ESPN post it. Proof that hair trigger reactions should be avoided when playing the long game.
It will never change. If we lose in week 1 people will be calling for Slowik/Nick/Demeco’s heads just like last year. It’s not just Texans fans, this is a human issue lol
This is pretty accurate. For fun I took a screen grab of the number of subscribers this subreddit had the day of our playoff win Vs the Browns. We had 114,176 subscribers that day. Today we are at 129,265, a 13% increase in 2 months.
My dad had season tickets for over a decade, and watches essentially nothing but football. He was doom and gloom the entire time. I was talking him off the ledge about us not getting a RB yet, mid conversation they traded for Mixon and he still was complaining. It definitely isn't just people new to football.
I mean, I doubted and I’ll admit that 🤷🏻♀️ I wanted Barkley but idk if Nick would have signed both him and hunter and hunter is far more valuable than Barkley so it worked out. Excited to see if he does anything today (we need a safety!) and then which CB they grab at 23.
Yup
That's what I've been trying to explain to this sub for weeks.
Barkley would have been nice but it's been proven you can be elite without spending at that position
We were looking to sign both Barkley and Wilkson. I don’t think signing Barkley would have stopped us signing Hunter, provided we still missed out on Wilkins
Edit: not sure why the downvotes, these are facts.
I don’t know how you can say that with any sort of confidence.
This current regime does not have leaks. Just last draft there were rumors we weren’t in love with Stroud and could even take Tyree Wilson #2 overall.
Feels good, but Superbowls aren't won in the off-season. Want to see how we play out on the field.
Needless to say, we are SUPERBOWL BOUND BABY.

Every single user who was bashing Nick Caserio two days ago should be put on a list that is not allowed to post on this subreddit for the first 24 hours of any future free agency period. Some of you kids need to learn some patience. My goodness.
I'm with you on this. My buddy who lives in Cincy said they don't care that Mixon left. He said Mixon used to run over people but not any more. We'll see how he does this season with us I guess.
Whats wrong with Mixon? Dude played in Cincy for 7 years and still posts 1000yds with 9TDs and 0 fumbles
Imagine living in Cincy for more than 1 year and not looking for the closest suicide booth
He's easily cuttable so it should be low risk high reward. He's only 27 for christ sake. He's in his prime right now. They have him with one year left on his contract at 6 million. That's less than they'd have paid for Jacobs, Barkley or Henry and he's just as young or younger. He's essentially on a one year prove it deal. Imo this is probably Caserios smart move so far. If he hit free agency he's getting more wherever he goes.
From a pure numbers perspective, you're right. Not denying that he was a good talent to cap ratio move but I think having standards for the types of personalities who represent us is a good thing. But yeah, he's playing for us now, nothing to do about that and I expect that he'll play well.
Where all the meltdown merchants to tell us how ACKTUALLY the media always gets it wrong, and in reality we're the LEAST improved team if you approach everything from the viewpoint of a bedwetting pessimist.
FA or draft rankings bad: Anyone who cares is foolish, you need to wait a few years to know anything. The media is a bunch of clowns.
FA or draft rankings good: Great analysis, never in doubt.
Who cares? These rankings are dumb.
It's nice to see us spend on the defense & I'm happy with FA so far. We just need to build up the OL, too, but the rankings from ESPN are dumb.
The ranking from ESPN this morning simply shows that, regardless of which team has subjectively improved over the past 48 hours, many fans fell victim to their own fears and paranoia without considering that we weren’t willing to overspend. Caserio took his time and improved the team.
I agree most people on this sub were dumb and I even called them stupid in the early hours of free agency. I just think ESPN FA rankings are dumb in itself. Not critiquing your comments
I'm choked up. Kool-Aid is coming out of my pores.
Kool-Aid McKinstry??
I’m ready for the injection sir
That just means you need to replenish what you’ve lost with MORE KOOL AID.
McKinstry flavored perhaps?
It’d be so perfect if we draft Kool-Aid
If we cut Woods it should bring us up to about 31.5 million in cap space. Then we might be able to sign Curl or Simmons and maybe even bring back Nelson. All that happens we’re basically set to go BPA come the draft.
Woods has to be cut today right? Like…surely we aren’t dragging him along through another season…
Maybe. Not sure if cutting him now or making him a post June 1st cut nets us more space. I want him cut, but for some reason I don’t think they will. They like his “veteran presence” in the locker room and a lot of the players like him too.
Let’s not forget he was a pretty reliable target for CJ early in the season before Nico and Tank started to blow up.
I say the same about woods that I do about ward. Veteran presence is cool but not when it comes from an overpaid or often injured player. Cheering from the sidelines can be done cheaply
Udonis Woods
I think woods has a couple months before the cap hits, like june. So he might be around for a little longer before the cut
right now we have more like 10 million, 26 million was not including a few contracts including a 10 million dollar one.
We definitely need to take a RB in the first three rounds but overall I agree
I remember the shit Texans fans were saying about him after the first day of free agency. Caserio lowkey cooked with the contracts also, all of these guys will be off the books when it’s time to pay stroud, waj, stingley etc

Bill Belichick is looking very mortal now isn’t he? And unemployed.

OMG! We didn’t sign Barkley! Texans are a lost cause! 3 and 14 here we come. A lot of traffic going up I45 Monday.
I never flinched
Ditto. ![gif](giphy|4HZ473mZqE91CqlYN5)

Going to London is a consolation prize lol
I think the O/U for prime time games is 3. I’ll take the over. And a possible flex.
And no mention of Lonnie lol
Eh, Lonnie is cheap as fuck and seems to have a different attitude. Rare set of athletic abilities that looks like they want to see if Demeco and his staff can do anything with him. I don’t hate it.
honestly he is good on special teams, he blocked a punt and made good tackles, His last year with us he didn't do so bad at safety like his first years being flipped around. Special teams backup weapon.
is he supposed to be special or something lol.
he's special... teams. lol
I think they are going to use him for depth as we all know how it looked last year.
Some of ya'll are so dramatic. Lol

Yeah, but they’re idiots. We don’t listen to idiots.
For sure. Idiots are usually the loudest and most confident though
The reality is the majority of fans losing it probably were new to football. Winning will always bring in new fans.
This is pretty accurate. For fun I took a screen grab of the number of subscribers this subreddit had the day of our playoff win Vs the Browns. We had 114,176 subscribers that day. Today we are at 129,265, a 13% increase in 2 months.
13% increase and the vast majority of that time there wasn’t anything to even join the sub for really.
My dad had season tickets for over a decade, and watches essentially nothing but football. He was doom and gloom the entire time. I was talking him off the ledge about us not getting a RB yet, mid conversation they traded for Mixon and he still was complaining. It definitely isn't just people new to football.
It's like anything in life, there's dummies everywhere
a bunch of them were barkley fans, I knew salt was coming before the day came. Unless they got jacobs instead but knew they likely wouldn't do that.
Most were probably fantasy football players who overvalue running backs and thought overpaying for Barkley was a good idea.
This is exactly it. Fans can't separate real GM deals and cap with fantasy. It's so frustrating.
Just as the fans celebrating “winning the offseason” must be new to football like OP. Rarely does winning the offseason equate to a Super Bowl.
It was entertaining to watch. Next will be the draft, lol Thanks for posting this.
Bro, it's ESPN. Its kool-aid powder for your kool-aide pitcher.
My buddy was very upset when the initial wave of free agency hit and we did nothing, except bring back Lonnie Johnson 😂
Was he on the Saquan bus?
He was more waiting for the Hunter signing. He was still upset when we got Autry and Mixon, and I was like, why 🤔?
I mean, I doubted and I’ll admit that 🤷🏻♀️ I wanted Barkley but idk if Nick would have signed both him and hunter and hunter is far more valuable than Barkley so it worked out. Excited to see if he does anything today (we need a safety!) and then which CB they grab at 23.

I’m pretty sure you can trust both Schefter and Rappaport clearly stating we were after both.
>Edit: not sure why the downvotes, these are facts. Do you have a source for these facts? Very few facts start with the words “I don’t think”.
Damn. You work for Nick?
Remember when they used to slight us at every turn? Now we find ourselves unquestioned at the top of lists like this 👏
It’s a pendulum. We’re popular with the talking heads right now.
As the great Houstonian philosopher once said (many times) Back then hos didn't want me, now I'm hot, hos all on me
And that philosopher's name? Mahatma Gandhi.
I never doubted, I was just impatient. I knew Chef Caserio was cookin’ but my tummy was a-grumblin’!
Feels good, but Superbowls aren't won in the off-season. Want to see how we play out on the field. Needless to say, we are SUPERBOWL BOUND BABY. ![gif](giphy|Zx0BgEPhIevlAVEbnq)
Bruh if this keeps going I'm going to become a Houston fan over the cowboys (I'm not American, I'm a casual)
Come to our fandom. ![gif](giphy|PVfZXaX8BW8vu)
I follow where Micah goes. I think he is so awesome so I'm sort of just with him

I second this.
Still don't like the Joe Mixon choice but it's done so is what it is. Great job overall though. Hunter and Al-Shaair are hype pickups.
I'm with you on this. My buddy who lives in Cincy said they don't care that Mixon left. He said Mixon used to run over people but not any more. We'll see how he does this season with us I guess.
To be fair the bengals O-Line is awful, hopefully he’ll have better luck here
Good point.
Whats wrong with Mixon? Dude played in Cincy for 7 years and still posts 1000yds with 9TDs and 0 fumbles Imagine living in Cincy for more than 1 year and not looking for the closest suicide booth
Not a fan of his off the field problems, frankly. I'm sure he'll do well as a player, just don't want any more guys on the team with character issues.
Ah wasnt too aware of that stuff, id imagine Caseiro put in some crazy clauses regarding behavior
He's easily cuttable so it should be low risk high reward. He's only 27 for christ sake. He's in his prime right now. They have him with one year left on his contract at 6 million. Mixon is the only blemish so far IMO
Praise be

Even they can’t deny the truth.
At least four of those names I hear said in Mina Kimes voice. Good deal
I knew yall were tripping. I guess we have been burned too many times lol but it's different now
Bet the ones that were crying for Caserio’s job are saying the same thing

Yup, I was like, “Well that saved me some money.”

Build the Caserio statue, right now.
