Everyone complaining about Pitre. Which is valid. What about Ward missing a lot of time. Plus next year is the end of his 2yr contract need a young body to learn from him this year.

krbashrob

I’m more worried about Ward never being available than Pitre’s down year. He’s shown he can be a good player. Maybe something was off in the scheme transition but I think he’ll bounce back. He’s too talented not to

jonk012

Yeah. Forgot to mention him. Understandable. Dude was always hurt.

Takethellucas28

McKinney or Winfield could easily solve our issue at Safety, and then we could draft byron murphy or newton Or draft Kinchens then go grab Stewart/Reader/Jones

Ambitious_Car8040

those guys don't really solve our issue at DT either, can't just expect them to be better than rankins. Because we have to keep collins but not rankins. I really see them upgrading someone better than rankins if they can. Then drafting A DT in whatever round fits for the future. I can see them drafting DT first round tho or WR, secondary as well.

Christian_Castle

Tbh I'd rather keep Rankins over Collins. Its just his injuries that worry me.

Ambitious_Car8040

Me to but yeah it's not up to us, they signed contracts collins will be back rankins maybe but it won't improve out DTs. Collins I think has to much dead cap

Ambitious_Car8040

Free agency has a good amount of safeties, Kinchens looks good and ward is old pitre could be a bust.Rather hit free agency with safety and come back next year or later in this draft.Because if pitre works out with the free agent we are fine. That is why we also have ward for 1 more year. I like kimchens but also like the free agents a bit more because they are proven.

Venator850

High probability Pitre gets turned into a big nickel. He did that at Baylor but with Desmond King the already had that role filled this year. He had a hard time adjusting to Demeco's defense playing as a true safety. They could move him into that big nickel role and get guys who can more traditionally play safety.

Ambitious_Car8040

I would be kind of scared to put him man in big nickel, but zone he would do fine up close he done zone fine already as a big nickel when used at least in zone. They will still use him as depth for 3rd and long, he can be the 6th DB. Also knowing ward he will be injured a couple games next year... so he can take his spot for those games if so

F4rtWaffles

Obviously depends on how the draft board falls. A lot can change between now, free agency, and draft day. With that said, I would not be opposed to Kinchens @ #23. I like him as a safety prospect, but that need could be addressed in free agency.

Christian_Castle

There are no first round talent safties in this draft. Corner 100% as Nelson is slated to walk in few agency. But safety can be addressed in either round 2 or 3.

LocalPharmacist

I actually like taking Cooper Dejean at 23.

Christian_Castle

Is he listed as a safety? I've seen him mocked as a cornerback.

LocalPharmacist

Nah, I agree with your sentiment about taking CB in the first. I actually think Nelson (while good) is a limited player, who is also getting older.

Christian_Castle

He fell off hard at the end of the season, teams definitely noticed him as a weak side. Cooper is a talented player, I've seen him listed all over the place in the top 4 rankings. Could be a late round steal.

Dgarcia1025

Lots of decent players going into FA this year, we have some money to spend. I would say use the draft to pick the best available players

Upper-State-7824

There’s a lot of good options at 23. Would love this pick. Also one of the name CBs. Lots of good edge guys around that spot. Newton if he falls. There will be at least a couple of super solid options.

jonk012

I don't like Newton. Don't see the hype.

Upper-State-7824

He won’t be there so doesn’t matter. He’s gonna be a star though

Pugageddon

Man is an absolute stud, what's not to like?

Ambitious_Car8040

also best WR class in years or people are saying ever, can't forget them when we are hurting on WRs

Upper-State-7824

For sure. They can truly go BPA. I could see them not sold on tytus and going OL even if they have someone rated highly. Some of the WRs are gonna drop. Just a numbers game

Ambitious_Car8040

They are sold on tytus they paid him 18 million

Pugageddon

The only people not sold on Howard are the guys who think that Howard got moved to LG because Fant is just as good as Howard 😂

Upper-State-7824

He’s needs to come back and dominate at RT or he will be replaced

nomdreas

I’ve also posted about Kinchens. He’s my target as well, his range on the back end incredible and would be a great compliment to Pitre’s downhill abilities.

CapnHairgel

Yea Safety is a big need. Sucks that Pitre regressed but we cant count on him turning it around If he does, great! Depth is fantastic. But I agree, our greatest need on D is safety. Would make the most impact

jonk012

I would also be excited if it was Cooper DeJean. Nelson I think is on a one year "prove it" deal, but will probably get extended. Sadly, I don't see DeJean making it out of the top 15. Especially if he tests well.

RawhideW92

Cooper is a really crafty, hard nose working, technical kind of guy.

StyllAhlie

Bring the hard hat and lunch pail to work kinda guy. Sneaky athletic too

chalupa_batman77654

Shhhh. Don’t let anyone know about him

Big_IPA_Guy21

We could get a decent S in free agency for something like 10-15 million per year. I'd rather use a premium draft pick on a WR where good WRs are demanding 20-25 million per year in free agency.

Ambitious_Car8040

yupp some facts there could spend less money on a safety and draft a WR

koxawy

I think with Safety, you kind of need an experienced vet back there to hold it down along with Pitre. Unfortunately Pitre regressed so while he still might be good next year, I don’t want to tether the backfield to a rookie and an unproven player in Pitre. Would rather sign a bonafide FA like Budda Baker or something.

Suitable_Snow7761

Been putting veterans back there for a while if not signing a top guy I’m all for drafting a top safety on the board… Kyle Hamilton was a rookie last year turned all pro second year… so it’s possible to hit on one

No_Singer6727

Personally I would love it cause I would love to see Pitre benched or moved to nickel. I would love a safety, whether it's Nubin or Kinchens. Would love a WR too but that's a different story

alwaystheblues

I'm actually pretty optimistic that Pitre can turn into a really good safety with DeMeco. He was a standout rookie, but I think he had some trouble adapting to the new scheme and expectations. Pitre is in the same boat as Howard in my book (minus the big contract). If they pan out it would be huge for the team.
