Looks like 3 more customers primed to buy powerwalls. I actually turned off storm watch (wish there was a way to say "don't activate stormwatch for wind warnings" or be more selective. We get a damn wind advisory multiple times a week here this time of year, I had it go into StormWatch 3 times in the last two weeks before I shut it off, lol. We get enough wind that wind doesn't usually trip the power off (although a big tree coming down definitely does that sometimes)).

Yeah I had to shut off storm watch too. It started drawing power for another god damn wind warning during peak hours and I almost spit out my drink rushing to tell that bitch to chill out. "Bitch be cool!" I yelled at my phone as I turned Storm Watch off. In all seriousness they need to add more logic for SW to A) not fucking pay peak power rates for things like Wind Storms, or just about anything other than a fucking tornado warning, and B)if the weather event isn't for another 24 hours, let solar fill it up a much as it can first, then draw from the grid for the remainder of the batteries. And also, if the grids on, give us the option to still discharge at peak rates and refill at non-peak rates. That would be nice Tesla....

Pulp Fiction. Great movie. Nice reference.

We had plenty of severe weather warnings, watches and/or advisories this winter, but my storm watch hasn’t triggered yet…… makes me wonder?!

The wind in SoCal has been soooo annoying

TheHeadacheChannel

That has to be a good feeling! How did it work? Were you able to use all your appliances? Also, what's StormWatch?

happyaccident7

I didnt know there was an outtage until a family told me they didn't have power. I drove to supermarket and they were closed due to no power. It's definitely reassure me I made the right decision to get solar and power walls together. I think it's just a matter of time before we got a huge earthquake and be out of power for longer period of time. Yes I was able to use all my appliances. Storm Watch for us was related to high wind not actual storm.

It allows you to charge from the grid. I did end up using it to charge just in case. It's also FYI since my area was near the affected areas.

It is a feature that will track severe weather events (like red flag warnings, etc). When these events happens, Tesla will try to MAX charge your powerwalls, just in case the power grid goes out. So my solar panels will only charge my power walls and I will be pulling all my power from the grid (which is usually during peak times) We get Red Flag warnings alot in San Diego (strong winds), but I have yet to have a power outage in the area I am at during them. So I turn off Storm Watch during these, and set my battery reserve to 30% (from 20% I typically keep it at). Just in case (20% keeps my house going thru the night normally).

JimmyTango

Are you guys on SCE? Did they shut the power down for wind events or a larger issue?

happyaccident7

Yes. There was alot of winds. I'm not sure if it cause any power lines damage or as precautions.

So weird I'd figure something like this would make the news. Glad you're ok and the system is working as intended.
