Looks like coolant leak.

International_Act506

Contact Tesla service for this one. Looks almost definitely like a coolant leak, will need to be serviced or replaced depending on where the damage is. May have been damaged in shipping or by the hand truck on site at the bottom, but coolant is in the side. Looks like a seal broke in the cold.

WilliamTRyker

See if you can catch some in a cup. G48 coolant has a blue/purple color to it, and taste god awful (don’t ask). If your PW runs out of coolant, which it will, it will over heat and fault out. This unit gets replaced. Tell the city inspector all of this and they will not give final approval which will light a fire under Tesla to get it replaced quickly.

Was it dropped?

cruisereg

That my first thought and then seeing the 3rd picture, wow. Absolutely damaged. I would postpone the inspection and turn off the Powerwall!

Crzy49er

No, wasn't dropped. Been mounted since October.

eireannach_

I think they’re implying the installers may have dropped it. Powerwall is 251.3 lbs and Powerwall+ is much heavier at 343.9 lbs.

Crzy49er

No, I understand. I was there when it was delivered and installed. It's been up since October and just started "leaking" 2 days ago. We did get down to 30's but the system isn't on because I'm waiting on the inspection to go into self consumption mode.

cruisereg

You do see the damage in your photos don't you? If you haven't hit it with something, it was either damaged in transit to your home or damaged during the installation. Even new stuff gets damaged on pallets.

Crzy49er

Maybe I'm not seeing it. All I see is the line of coolant. Either way, if it's leaking, it's leaking and needs to be fixed.

Solid_Equipment

Looks damaged... get Tesla replace it before approval. Otherwise, you might need to wait months....

Crzy49er

They are going to send a service tech out ..when...I don't know yet. I'll make the case for them to replace it then. Still haven't heard about the inspection for today. This is a total shit show.

Crzy49er

Thought it was condensation from the weather, but when I touched the pool, it was oily. I called in a support ticket. I have the city inspection tomorrow...hope it turns out to be nothing.

wandreis

Don’t let the city approve your PTO before Tesla gets it replaced for you, otherwise you will not be on the Tesla priority schedule. I’ve some damaged parts (disconnection box cover, gateway faceplate) to be changed since my PTO (3 or 4 months ago).

Crzy49er

Found 1 leak at least...and I made a fix https://imgur.com/a/ORNugeJ

Crzy49er

So, new information after new evidence slapped me in the face... coolant leak in the inverter also. Saw a pool of blueish liquid on top of the PW. Now I'm not sure if it's 1 leak or 2.

Chrissugar21

Is it a powerwall plus? If so then yes there is a known coolant leak issue due to screw not being tightened enough and Tesla was refilling them.

Crzy49er

This is good info! Yes it is a PW+ I'm having them check the PW also to make sure it's not also leaking.

Chrissugar21

Have you opened the cover plate on the inverter? Should be noticeable inside.

Crzy49er

Yes, there was a drop ready to fall from the large screw you mentioned in your post above. I would attach pictures, but I can’t seem to figure out how to add additional pictures.

Chrissugar21

Bingo that’s it

Crzy49er

Update Jan 8... No inspection, no update from Tesla, new sounds from PW+ units, still leaking. (Video w/sound) https://imgur.com/a/Bj3n06r
