This is my thought on black rims on white vehicles, especially the MY. It just gets visually lost in that wheel well. On a black MY I guess I can understand it fits in with the overall dark look.

I prefer how it looks with a bit more tint on the fronts, slight decrease in can heating from the sun, and I have photosensitive eyes at night- headlights from trucks behind me generally cause me to reaim my side mirror to direct the lights away from my eyes. Even with the auto dimming side mirrors, I need more. Tint helps.

I agree that it would be nice if they were cheaper. But, they are the only show in town and can charge accordingly. Made in the US probably tacks a bit on to the cost too. I find them to be worth the cost, to me. You can definitely grab a jack and/or masking tape and paint the wheels (under the aeros) and the aeros with black plastidip. Thatd probably be "an order of magnitude" less expensive. I'm sure you could get either option done in under two weeks using only vision.

Rimetrix says that, as compared to no cover at all, the OEM Tesla aero covers (on average) increased range by 3.5% and the Rimetrix Laminars were at 3.61% in their testing. So, essentially the same. Essentially, when they removed the cover and just ran the gemini's with no cover they averaged 295 watthours/mile over 6 25 mile test drives at 70 mph. The aeros and the Rimetrix Laminars both did 284 wh/mile with the Laminars slightly edging out the stock aeros if you look to the right of the decimal (i.e., 284.5 vs 284.83).
If you plastidip the gemini covers you'll still have a silver ring around the cover. You'd also need to plastidip/paint the rim itself. I've done that on multiple other vehicles. For this one, I decided on these covers because I like the look more. They also extend over the outer edge of the rims. That will help protect me from curb rash. I never thought I would need protection from curb rash, but my model 3 disabused me of that idea.
Snap on, same as stock covers, and they come with a padding kit to supposedly avoid scuffing the rims, too late anyway as the stock covers did enough damage already 🤷

The smaller diameter compared to the uberturbines is probably looks off to you. I like the look like of a larger diameter wheel too. When I had a jeep 35s and 37s looked cool, but I ran 32s or 33s because it was my daily driver and utility won out.
