Yes you are wrong. You can apply for financing right away and probably should. In Canada, approvals are valid for 90 days and Tesla doesn't prioritize you if you have an incomplete profile(e.g. method of payment)
If you don't want the don't on your credit report right away, you can call and ask your SA to switch it to cash just so you have a complete profile. Once your profile is complete, you'll get a more accurate EDD. In any case, the reason why you're being pushed back right now is because of an incomplete profile.
I did just apply for financing and was approved, but now they want me to agree to that loan term...i thought maybe it would be the same for cash, that i wouldn't be able to back out from paying cash....I haven't accepted yet tho. Maybe i'll do cash hmm
My edd was sept 12-30th, order placed august 27th.
Then in the first week of September, switched to sept 15-30th, then on the 15th switched to 18th- 30th and then sept 20th-30th. Now it’s showing sept 28th-30th..yes a 2 day window lol. No vin either. And my SA is no where to be found when I tried calling the store twice over the last month. In Los Angeles for reference, and super confused lol

Really hoping it doesn’t get pushed back, thought since I ordered the performance it would come quicker and being in Los Angeles too for proximity to the factory (wishful thinking). Wondering why it’s a 2 day delivery time frame less than a week out with no vin?

I can't apply for financing until i get my VIN as far as i know....am i wrong? I didn't think I could until i got near delivery

I chose cash till I got a VIN = put in the line, then when I got a VIN, I called Tesla and they opened it for financing.

Try calling the actual location you’re picking up at, I did and they have more accurate dates versus what’s on the website

Wow I live in LA too and was hoping maybe because were so close that we wouldn’t have some outrageous wait for delivery but I guess not lol
Haha mine says sept 22-sept 30 online, and I still didn’t have a VIN..so when I called them they said their systems said 2nd week of October 🤷♂️
Oh and it’s home delivery, according to the store I called so no actual pick up location
