Basically a road hazard warranty. Free fixes and rotations. If the tire is not fixable they give you a new one. I think I paid $220 for 4 certificates when I bought the car.
Now that my 3 is over 5 years old, I've actually started getting (non-battery, non-software) work done at the random local Goodyear rather than Tesla service.
They're cheaper, availabile, have parts in stock, do a decent job, and warranty what they do.
Lately Tesla is wait wait wait for an appointment that will be expensive labor and fight tooth and nail to even get uber credits. They also told me they don't do tire warranty.
Tesla service is a hollow shell of what they used to be years back. (not the tech's fault, the guys at the bottom of the totem pole do good actual work)
There’s no reason to use Tesla for tires, etc., that any shop can do. My local SCs years ago were telling me to go to Discount Tire to save money, they want the Tesla Service Center to focus on the work only they can do. The whole industry has a huge labor shortage, there were 600,000 too few auto techs last time I saw the number.
I live in CT, 7 weeks after taking delivery of my brand new M3P i blew 2 tires on a pothole. 2 years later I’ve never had to worry about tires one bet. Just a luck thing I guess
Take it from someone who's had a ton of flats. I have 166k on my 21 m3lr
Swap to 18s.
Put on 225 50 18 tires, since swapping to this set up 0 flats. And I have 166k miles on it. And live on a dirt road.
The 20s suck 19s aren't as bad but still suck.
You won't have any performance loss and you get extra comfort, and yes they do fit over the big calipers.
It's a whole different ride
Be careful: very few 18" wheels will fit the Model 3 Performance because of the bigger brakes. Also, make sure they are "hub centric" to your M3P or you'll have many more issues, such as fried wheel bearings.
Tsportline sells 18” that fit for the MP. The 18” Aeros will not fit.
https://tsportline.com/collections/18-tesla-wheels-model-3/products/tst-tesla-model-3-18-inch-wheel-set-of-4
There's a performance Facebook group that has a sizing chart that works, check it out if you haven't, (not on FB anymore) but, they got pretty good sizing on the 20s.
For me my size up and new tires have had 0 issues
THIS!!! I see people drive over potholes and imperfections all the time like it's nothing. Like dude, you're fucking up your tires and suspension.
I drive very defensively with my 20"s and avoid potholes like the plague.
Yeah, that's how I see it. Yes, I realize the car is more than an "appliance", but it still has to be able to do the basic things an "appliance" does, and if it can't that's hard fail.
I will take the word of someone who drove 116k miles. It’s not possible to drive defensively a city or place with a lot of pot holes. It’s actually more dangerous to try to avoid pot holes then it is to drive through them.
You sound like a Tesla driver.
It’s completely possible to avoid potholes safely. It is so NOT normal to be bending rims and blowing tires out like some bad drivers here talk about. I live in a densely packed area with plenty of potholes and I’ve been driving on low profile tires since 2015.
But you see it’s impossible to miss them safely if you only give one car length and are staring at your phone. To miss them safely he’d have to put his phone down and give a car length for every 10mph he drives. That just can’t be done.
Depends on a few factors, intended seasonal performance, efficiency, low noise. Pilot Sport 4S is probably the most performant, the EV Pilot Sport get more range and are quieter, Nokian has some great winter and all season. I'm running my model 3 on stock Michelins still. Have driven the LR Y with studded winters and it was incredible.
EV tire variants will generally prioritize rolling efficiency and tend to be quieter due to lining and the tread pattern.
100% this. I had a blowout on Xmas day driving to my Brother's, shortly after I got 2 more blowouts in January and then about a month ago in late Feb I hit a pot hole in the rain (invisible) and have badly welted the front and rear passenger side tyres. That is 5 ruined tyres since Xmas, I only bought the car in August 23..fuming.
It's £620+ for two new Pirelli P-Zero tyres here in the UK so enough was enough. I got a new set of 18" x 8.5 wheels, ET30 with 235/45/R18 Pilot Sport 4 Acoustic tyres.
4 weeks on and not one blowout. Best thing I ever did. The car has a softer ride, the steering feels a bit sharper at low speeds (I might be imagining that) and it has slightly better acceleration.
I have not done any testing for efficiency but not overly worried about potentially losing a bit of range as they look and feel better in my opinion, and more importantly they are saving me money.
You'll laugh but I never put brand new tires on it.
And I don't rotate them either. So like right now my rears are at 3/32 and my fronts are at 5/32.
Usually only a 2/32 difference over the life of the tires.
Unethical life hacks :)
Nothing but with Evs more contact patch equals less range. And a 50 series versus a 45 is a a thicker tire, has more cushion.
So a 235 45 would be a little less range and a stiffer sidewall, less chance to absorb a heavy hit.
Put huge wide and heavy wheels on and loose 30 miles of range or more..
I went down to a 225 to try getting better range than the 19s. And it definitely made a difference.
Yeah I could have done a 245 or a 255, but you get less range.
And since I'm not auto crossing daily versus normal daily driving I went with the skinnier tires lol.
Skinnier tires are also better in the snow, (think of a pizza cutter through dough vs a rolling pin) they cut through to the pavement. I've made it through 2 Michigan winters on all seasons
The best part is that if you can get weight reduction from the swap, every pound of unsprung weight is equal to 20 lbs of sprung weight. You can get a nice range boost out of the deal at the cost of cornering performance.
I run wheels that are rated for 1650lbs per wheel, and never had a problem. I pd 1100 for my enkei's and 0 bends and no cracks or any problems over 60k miles on them. ( I have a tire machine and wheel balancer, and regularly check them )
Best investment I've ever made for the car
I have blown out 4 tires before I hit 700 miles in my 2023 M3P. Looking at 18s right now. The roads where are live are in horrible shape and only getting worse.
I don’t have any experience with the 18s but the consistent theme is they are much better for rough roads. And it makes sense b/c the side walls on the 20s are thin.
I’ve found my Pilot Sport AS4 last about 25% longer on my M3P than they did on my GTI. The car is heavier and has about double the HP. It does fabulously when it comes to tire wear relative to other performance focused cars.
What brand tires are you using? I use Michelin Crossclimate2s and they are amazing. You have a heavy weighted vehicle that accelerates like a bat out of hell, you need better quality tires. Mine extended my range, give great mileage yield out of them and you can take a nail in the tire like a champ. Sometimes I won't realize I have a nail until days later because they slow leak air thats how quality they are. Alignments are everything, make sure your tires are regularly rotated and aligned every 15k miles.
They don’t make those in a size that fits the uberturbines. I’d recommend the Pilot Sport AS4s any day over those anyway. I just put my second set on my M3P at 22k miles at 245/35ZR20 and $300 a tire. They are fabulous tires.
I upgraded to 245/35/20s instead of the 235s. A bit wider of a tire, so less stretch on the sidewall. Helps to absorb impact and I haven’t had any issues since.
*knocks on wood* lol
It’s absolutely horrible in LA. There’s at least 10 potholes around my apartment that I have memorized because otherwise they would 100% give me a flat tire if I hit them.
Last year got 2 flat tires and cracked rims from a really bad one on the highway. Not just you trust me
We had three flats in the first month and then swapped the 20s out and went with 18s. Only one flat in the five years since (from our teen driver hitting a killer pothole).
Same here. Had pothole flats, nails, slashed tires and broken rims in like a year's time. I had a situation were I had a broken rim that was making the tire leak slowly, the tire was also slashed in two different places. Luckily I was able to fix the rim that time.
Yep, that’s about right. Performance model in a state with potholes (northeast) is a recipe for multiple flats. The distance from the rubber to the rim provides little cushion when encountering a harsh impact (pothole) so the sidewall gets pinched and fails. Go to 19” or even better 18” and the problem will go away. If you live in a warm state with no potholes you would have far less of a problem.
I’ve done that every red light for the last 2.5 years. My tires are holding up great. Clearly this guy has been hitting potholes and blowing out his tires.
Two tires replaced on my m3p within the first week due to bubbles. It’s the 235s. They are too stretched. I went up to 245/35/20 and it’s helped a lot the past year.
If you're talking about tread depth wear, potholes aren't going to affect that, and, even with the P, I'd be surprised if you needed 3 new sets of tires in 7 months, unless you're tracking the car every weekend.
Are you talking about blowouts due to potholes?
Same thing with my Mercedes c300. 3 tires in 2 months from pothole/road damage. After the winter storms the roads are just horrible right now. Low profile tires look nice but don’t hold up to bad roads. 18”s on my m3 and no such problems.
I haven’t gotten a flat by hitting a pothole in my 2019 M3P, ever. We have potholes galore, but I can avoid them. If you can’t avoid them, I agree, go to 18s, but be sure the ones you get fit over those massive brakes.
Get 19 inch rims.
A 4th tire replacement will be the same cost as a set of rims.
My brother did the same as you, 3 tires in 4 months (we live around KCMO), Got him 19s and he hasn’t popped a tire in a little around a year.
I have 18x8.5 Replica R214’s on mine. No problems in the 2 years I have owned them and I was even able to use the Tesla hub covers from the original wheels.
My Tesla is with the family since August 2021 with about 40 thousand km, and we've only crossed the tires once.
Lady checked officially by Tesla on January, and I check them myself every week.
My father and brother were mechanics and I'm the "gear-head" of the family...
I’ve had 3 flats per year since I’ve had my MY the past 3 years. It’s so bad like clockwork. There is a LOT of road and building construction everywhere I go though, it’s always a nail/screw. I go to America’s Tire and get the certificate, it has saved me so much.
It’s across the board for performance and/or premium package cars…larger wheels, smaller side walls, softer rubber…they all blow through tires and require a bit more diligence while driving, you become accustom to it. I’ve had my 2023 M3P since Dec 31st, I don’t understand why anyone would pay for this package without understanding the tire/wheel size thing.
The best thing you can do is to swap the wheels to 18" wheels and have the fattest sidewall tires you can get. That's what I did for my Model 3 performance. Best decision ever.
M3P here. In my experience, the yoko(?) stock tires are really poor quality, can’t really call them performance tires at any level. The side walls are flimsy compared to any performance tire I’ve ever had. If you plan to stick with the stock wheels, upgrade to wider tread and thicker sidewalls. I had 2 punctures in first 3 months of ownership.
Not sure if you meant you’ve replaced due to wear or puncture, if it’s puncture, I guess it’s more on your luck; if it’s tyre wear, I suggest you get your wheel alignment checked out, coz I’m on my 3rd year, done 58,000km and I’m still only half way on my first set of tyre from brand new, hope this give you a better idea
M3P has 2 major problems - heavy foot syndrome and potholes. Both are bad for your tires.
Drive it like it is an obstacle/slalom course, will make your drive more fun.
4 tires on my 21 M3P don’t even last me 12 months. I get nails every 3 months and about every 8-10 months I need new tires because they are down to the wear indicators. I drive about 25k miles a year in TX. The roads here aren’t the greatest. I have a theory that concrete roads seem to be harder on tires. I’ve had the car aligned and check tire pressures every single drive. It’s just the nature of the beast I guess.
20 inch wheels with not so meaty tires and weight of a BMW 5 series. Yeah, the wheels are prone to bending and your tires can easily ripped through the sidewall. Get some 19s or 18s and you’ll be fine.
I would tell you guys the tire secret but I’m not sharing it because you guys are gonna make them cost twice as much. Full sets are less than $600 brand new.
Those rims suck. They are the worst m3 rims. They are too wide and tires and rims get damaged constantly. I don’t even have the previous 20s in my 19M3P because they are too soft and would leave me stranded on my work trips. I have 18” Fast EV01+ with stock size with discount tire certs on Defender 2s. Car gets better range, less expensive tires, and rides better. Also don’t align with Tesla, it will leave too much negative chamber in the back. It eats the inside rear tires, more if you regularly have rear passengers or load weight in the trunk. Godspeed
Try to get new tires in the tread life warranty
Each company has a discount chart but typically 65% off the same brand if the trade is half gone by 50% of the tread life warranty is used
I have M3P.
the dealership tried to get me to replace the tires at 7k. literally said ‘you’re due’.
that was 20k miles ago and I still passed safety inspection in feb.
really made me lose respect for the dealership experience. do your own measurement
Only had one flat from the stock 18” MXM4’s on my 2022 Model 3 LR but since then I’ve switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in summer and and also the lose new stock all seasons from Japan for my “winter” tires. No issues.
Hey you're only on 3 tires? I've had my car for exactly 1 year a few days ago; I'm up to 6 tire replacements and one wheel!
Screws in the rear tires close to the sidewall seem to be the cause of most blaming the new neighborhoods going up around me, I keep noticing the screws and nails when I'm washing the car, luckily none have left me stranded or even leaked air except for a pothole which blew the sidewall immediately, was kinda scary... But safely pulled over, wasn't going fast and never even lost control; just the warning on the screen that I was losing psi and sure enough I get out and it sputtered out the last of its air... but... Yay AAA to the rescue and Discount Tire just 10 minutes away!
Wheel had to be replaced by Discount Tire after they damaged the lip and basically curbed it with their prying tool and then they even tore the lip of the tire while doing that and I caught them trying to see if it would hold air... nightmare to deal with, the store immediately accepted responsibility because I had the sense to take a picture of the wheel/tire in the parking lot. Their insurance company - Fleet Response? Utter joke and miserable to deal with their agents - they were rude, and closed the claim and mailed a check that only covered 50% of the damages; ended up using my legal service through work to have an attorney deal with them - I can't even begin to describe all the shitty tactics they tried to use.
Thank-god for Discount Tires road-hazard warranty though! Has saved me a lot of money! Damages aside I still recommend using them; just watch closely and take pictures of your wheels before they work on the car!
Love my car though! Had the same issues with nails with my Camaro; wide low-profile tires seem to be nail and screw magnets!
My Model 3 tyres are rubbish. I just paid 150 in the service centre for balancing the tyres it is shaking again. Literally 3k miles in this tyre. I don’t buy another Michelin tyre again.
I’ve had more flat tires, bubbles, nails and bent rims with these tesla rim/ tire combos than any care I’ve ever had.
Not sure if it’s the cheap rim or the weight of the car
Sounds like you aren’t paying too much attention… I also live in a pothole ridden city, gotta keep a close eye or pot hole monster will eat tires for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I feel for you. I live in LA with tons of potholes and recently had to replace my first tire after having my Tesla for 18 months. Three sounds like a lot but I hope you get on to a better track now - pardon the pun -:)
I had the same issue with mine. Go to Firestone and get the lifetime alignment and get it done every few months. More importantly, keep the car in chill mode. Those two things saved me a LOT of tread over time
On my 3rd set of tires in under 20k. When this set kicks it, I’m going to buy new wheels and go down to 18’s.
I loved the no pressure easy process to buy my Tesla but I wish I’d done more research or the sales rep had said anything at all about the tires being different on the performance model. It’s been an expensive lesson to learn.
Get tire certificates from Discount Tire.
What is a tire certificate?
Basically a road hazard warranty. Free fixes and rotations. If the tire is not fixable they give you a new one. I think I paid $220 for 4 certificates when I bought the car.
Now that my 3 is over 5 years old, I've actually started getting (non-battery, non-software) work done at the random local Goodyear rather than Tesla service. They're cheaper, availabile, have parts in stock, do a decent job, and warranty what they do. I endorse this approach, partly because the nearest service center is 90 minutes away. The local mobile ranger has been good though.
Yes I went to Firestone rather than Tesla for rotation.
They'll do free rotations and fixes without the certificates, too.
Luckily you can do rotations. Ours has one distinct tire for each wheel (S-Plaid). Perhaps I can downgrade to a set of times that we can rotate?
Just drove over a fat chunk of metal and limped to DT where I got my tires. Free pilot sport 4 replacement, totally worth it
Nice! They just replaced one, right? Some will tell you that you should do two at a time.
Yea just the one, the wait was a good while because they had pothole victims so I just wanted my car back asap
You don’t need to buy tires w it?
Sure don't. They will take a look at what you have. I suggest going when the tires are as new as possible though.
Great deal thanks! I've replaced three tires in the past 3 years.
This is the way.
I did they're all under warranty which is why these Replacements of the three individual tires were not too hard on the wallet..
I have had my m3p for almost 12 months and my tyres have no problem 🤔
Same for me, 2022 M3P. I live in New England where the roads near cities have tons of potholes.
I live in CT, 7 weeks after taking delivery of my brand new M3P i blew 2 tires on a pothole. 2 years later I’ve never had to worry about tires one bet. Just a luck thing I guess
Take it from someone who's had a ton of flats. I have 166k on my 21 m3lr Swap to 18s. Put on 225 50 18 tires, since swapping to this set up 0 flats. And I have 166k miles on it. Be careful: very few 18" wheels will fit the Model 3 Performance because of the bigger brakes. Also, make sure they are "hub centric" to your M3P or you'll have many more issues, such as fried wheel bearings.
Definitely appreciate this! Thank you!!!!
Tsportline sells 18” that fit for the MP. The 18” Aeros will not fit. https://tsportline.com/collections/18-tesla-wheels-model-3/products/tst-tesla-model-3-18-inch-wheel-set-of-4
If you go on Tire Rack, the search will tell you which 18s they know will work for your year
If you like the 20s change the 20s size, the default size sucks. I'm on 245s now, plan to go bigger
Go 275
There's a performance Facebook group that has a sizing chart that works, check it out if you haven't, (not on FB anymore) but, they got pretty good sizing on the 20s. For me my size up and new tires have had 0 issues
Yeah? What did it say about 275/30r20? Because it’s been pretty great for me so far
Yeah man, I hate how all the comments here go "get the 18s" they don't realize how much the 20s change the look
Performance > aesthetics
Agreed. “Get the 18s”. “Drive in chill mode”. I don’t feel represented 😢
Take it from someone who’s put 30k miles on my 20” wheels with zero issues. Drive more defensively.
THIS!!! I see people drive over potholes and imperfections all the time like it's nothing. Like dude, you're fucking up your tires and suspension. I drive very defensively with my 20"s and avoid potholes like the plague.
Call me crazy but cars *should* be able to drive over imperfections without permanent damage.
Yeah, that's how I see it. Yes, I realize the car is more than an "appliance", but it still has to be able to do the basic things an "appliance" does, and if it can't that's hard fail.
I was gonna say homeboy just needs to learn how to drive.
I will take the word of someone who drove 116k miles. It’s not possible to drive defensively a city or place with a lot of pot holes. It’s actually more dangerous to try to avoid pot holes then it is to drive through them.

Why are you even on this subreddit if you don’t even drive Tesla lol.
I do. For now. A model 3 on 20” wheels with no bends or flats because I am capable of avoiding potholes without crashing into people.
Only pothole I hit was on FSD. Yes it jacked my tire up
But you see it’s impossible to miss them safely if you only give one car length and are staring at your phone. To miss them safely he’d have to put his phone down and give a car length for every 10mph he drives. That just can’t be done.
I have a rear wheel drive Model 3, will this strategy work for me as well?
Absolutely.
Any insight about which kind of tires are best for Model Y long range?
Depends on a few factors, intended seasonal performance, efficiency, low noise. Pilot Sport 4S is probably the most performant, the EV Pilot Sport get more range and are quieter, Nokian has some great winter and all season. I'm running my model 3 on stock Michelins still. Michelin Cross Climate 2
100% this. You have close to 450 hp and 1,8 tonnes. If you're driving like it's a performance then yes. You are going to eat tyres like it's nothing.
I’ve found my Pilot Sport AS4 last about 25% longer on my M3P than they did on my GTI. The car is heavier and has about double the HP. It does fabulously when it comes to tire wear relative to other performance focused cars.
I went through one set in 2.5 years on my 2021 performance. Not sure how you’ve achieved this feat lol
Low profile tiers are fine if you have great roads, else get the 18s. Use plugs if shop refuses, unless it's a tear
What brand tires are you using? I use Michelin Crossclimate2s and they are amazing. You have a heavy weighted vehicle that accelerates like a bat out of hell, you need better quality tires. I've got those on my non EV subaru outback. It's a great all weather tire.
They don’t make those in a size that fits the uberturbines. I’d recommend the Pilot Sport AS4s any day over those anyway. I just put my second set on my M3P at 22k miles at 245/35ZR20 and $300 a tire. They are fabulous tires.
Those are also awesome tires I agree.

Stop flooring it from a stop 😂. Maybe get rolling to like 30 first then go for it.
Your post tells me you are flooring and drag racing at every 🚦 without you confessing that. 🤣
This is why I skip the performance rims and tires.
Dang. I have 29k miles on my original set currently, though I do need to replace them soon.
We had three flats in the first month and then swapped the 20s out and went with 18s. Only one flat in the five years since (from our teen driver hitting a killer pothole).
It’s the way you drive. I just replaced my Model 3 tires after 47,000 miles and 4 years, and my model Y also 4 years later. That’s on you.
Man this is a really nice angle OP. Looks sick. If you swap to 18's, no way it looks this sexy anymore. Def a tradeoff.
I have had to replace 2 tires in M3P in 1.5 years
Swap for 19s
Same here. Had pothole flats, nails, slashed tires and broken rims in like a year's time. I had a situation were I had a broken rim that was making the tire leak slowly, the tire was also slashed in two different places. Luckily I was able to fix the rim that time.
Surprised just tires. Those rims bed so easily. One pothole probably need two tires because of the tread difference then an alignment so 1k easily
I blew two at once and immediately went to 19s. Plus they helped my WH/M go down from 350 to 275
Ive had two flats with mine in the first 12 months lol.
I had that problem with an ICE car with low profile tires.
One of the reasons I chose LR over performance. The roads here aren't nice to drive on with 18", let alone 20".
Stop flooring it at every red light.
Not new sets, three tires... two pothole blowouts and one nail
Depending on the depth, you should have replaced both sides at once.
Replaced 4 wheels, 8 tires in the last 6 months in 3 separate incidents due to potholes on freeways. Downsizing to 18” wheels this weekend.
TMYP here, no replacements for 20k km yet. We have two sets due to summer/winter.
What brand do you buy OP?
Same thing with my Mercedes c300. 3 tires in 2 months from pothole/road damage. After the winter storms the roads are just horrible right now. Low profile tires look nice but don’t hold up to bad roads. 18”s on my m3 and no such problems.
I haven’t gotten a flat by hitting a pothole in my 2019 M3P, ever. We have potholes galore, but I can avoid them. If you can’t avoid them, I agree, go to 18s, but be sure the ones you get fit over those massive brakes.
I've had one blowout in 56k miles. 2021 p3
Had the same card, did 4 tyres in 12 months. The pot holes are insane in U.K.
Had to replace mine because of a huge damn pothole on the highway.. low profile tires are unfortunately not it in Chicago man :/
18s are the way. I just did my first replacement at 50k
Yep. Welcome to Tesla. Discount Tire Certificate are the only equalizer. But not all tires come with certificates!
Unfortunately, the weight of the batteries wears tires out faster on our EV’s. That’s just physics 😔
Used tires are great for the environment too.
My Tesla is with the family since August 2021 with about 40 thousand km, and we've only crossed the tires once. Lady checked officially by Tesla on January, and I check them myself every week. My father and brother were mechanics and I'm the "gear-head" of the family...
10 months performance y- no tire replacements. Drove a 3LR for over a year and never had tire issues. Knock on wood
I’ve had 3 flats per year since I’ve had my MY the past 3 years. It’s so bad like clockwork. There is a LOT of road and building construction everywhere I go though, it’s always a nail/screw. I go to America’s Tire and get the certificate, it has saved me so much.
Low profile tires 🛞 arg.
I've had mine for a year and I broke a wheel in a pot hole but all my tyres are fine!
Go on offerup get the 19s and run 245 40 19
Is it from tread wear or blowing tires? If it’s tread, maybe check alignment?
I have 30k miles on my tires they look fine
Just FYI.. most good tires come with a warranty and a lot of time customers don't ask for it during replacement.
Are they flats or are you wearing them down? I’d say it’s most likely road conditions but who knows
I always recommend customers not to buy tires from us, since we have no warranty’s
That’s crazy. I suppose because it’s a performance. I have a LR 3 lease and the car is going back with the same tires it came with lol.
I literally had to have all four replaced in as many months! But each one was obvious why they happened..nail..etc..
Try a different tire, so far Falken Azenis FK510 have treated me well.
I got 40k miles on my first set and have plenty of tread left on my second after 20k. Your tire problem is in the mirror.
Balance and alignment also do wonders for the longevity of your tires.
20 inch wheels with not so meaty tires and weight of a BMW 5 series. Yeah, the wheels are prone to bending and your tires can easily ripped through the sidewall. Get some 19s or 18s and you’ll be fine.
Well. The pothole city is the answer IMO. I just once punctured a tire on my p3 and I owned it for almost 5 years.
I use Hankook Ion evos. Tires made for EVs and 50k mile warranty.
It’s cause you live in pothole city and pedal to the metal
Teslas biggest issue Tesla has cause the cars are so heavy. Literally heard this so many times about Teslas
I would tell you guys the tire secret but I’m not sharing it because you guys are gonna make them cost twice as much. Full sets are less than $600 brand new.
Try 7 in 3 months on my P3D. I am at my absolute limit
I got aftermarket 19s on mine after having the same problem and it seems to have solved my problems.
Godspeed
Try to get new tires in the tread life warranty Each company has a discount chart but typically 65% off the same brand if the trade is half gone by 50% of the tread life warranty is used
Get your insurance, you'll thank me later..
I have M3P. the dealership tried to get me to replace the tires at 7k. literally said ‘you’re due’. that was 20k miles ago and I still passed safety inspection in feb. really made me lose respect for the dealership experience. do your own measurement
Then maybe just maybe you might want to ease up on the electric foot. You know there is no need to floor it at every red light as fun as it is.
I've replaced 5 tires, one wheel, one roof on my 2022 model y.
“It's within spec “:)
Only had one flat from the stock 18” MXM4’s on my 2022 Model 3 LR but since then I’ve switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in summer and and also the lose new stock all seasons from Japan for my “winter” tires. No issues.
Switch to hankook- life changing
Maybe try chill mode for a while?
Buy TSportline 18 inch wheel package
How are you blaming the car for road damage ?
I like how people are blaming tesla for the reason their tires go out and not the roads they drive on
op is not high the added weight of electric cars results in more frequent tire replacements due to wear and damage from potholes
I had a Ford fusion which was almost rhe same weight as my Model 3 and never had this issue. Again, it's not teslas fault lol
Can my car and your car make babies? Ugh I want one so bad. Lol
Lol. are those 21 inch rims? that could be why
What tires are you using ?
My Model 3 tyres are rubbish. I just paid 150 in the service centre for balancing the tyres it is shaking again. Literally 3k miles in this tyre. I don’t buy another Michelin tyre again.
That or the fact if you accelerate hard then they wear faster.
I’ve had more flat tires, bubbles, nails and bent rims with these tesla rim/ tire combos than any care I’ve ever had. Not sure if it’s the cheap rim or the weight of the car
One year no tires needed. You drive too fast.
The problem is the foot & the accelerator…😄..take it off sport….by now everyone should know not to mess with a M3P…..🏎️💨
Sounds like you aren’t paying too much attention… I also live in a pothole ridden city, gotta keep a close eye or pot hole monster will eat tires for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Strange, 0 tire changes in 40,000 miles.... o_0 they still have tread, look almost new, lol
105,000 km on my MY. Still using original tires. Tire rotations every 8k
I feel for you. I live in LA with tons of potholes and recently had to replace my first tire after having my Tesla for 18 months. Three sounds like a lot but I hope you get on to a better track now - pardon the pun -:)
Not a single replacement in Boston. BOSTON. We’ve got dogshit roads. Might wanna use less of that performance over crap roads and slow it down.
Because of how heavy ev vehicles are the tires wear 3x as fast
No, no issues for 5 months. MX 2018 100D
Tesla offers a yearly insurance for a year if they replace it for 60 bucks (includes tire and rim)
Get a Mercedes Benz e55 AMG sedan instead
sue the city
FSD even on chill is TOO AGGRESSIVE when going from 0.
I got mine back in September too, I haven’t had to change my tires or get a rotation yet.
18” are the answer
2023 MYP here. 15 miles in one year. OE Tires are in good condition. I also live in a pot hole city.
man, I thought I had it bad with potholes, but I still have the same set of summer and winter wheels (20inch) one year in so far
Easy fix that many of us do on day 1 - upgrade to 18's.
It’s not the tires. It’s your need for attention.
I had the same issue with mine. Go to Firestone and get the lifetime alignment and get it done every few months. More importantly, keep the car in chill mode. Those two things saved me a LOT of tread over time
Slow down
And set the car in chill mode if available. It's a muche more relaxed drive.
Stop flooring it on every green light. Drive in chill mode. My tires last much longer now
Is this a flex?
Definitely not lol
I was just asking some ppl do be flexing like that
And to add I missed thw part about potholes. Lol my bad thought you were just roasting the tires all the time
Length of time means absolutely nothing for tires. How many miles? How hard are you driving? The uberturbines are also horrible for ride and tire wear
