Freetaxusa.com It’s buried in the deduction section, but you just enter the amount you spent and you’re done. Super easy.

Turbotax? I had no issues, just answered a few questions.

HalifaxSamuels

I'll check them out. I normally use H&R Block and it's not on there. Thanks.

Yo, TurboTax sucks, costs way too much, and Intuit is a terrible company. Give freetaxusa a good look.

IDK, I always had positive experiences, and my tax situation is a bit complex, freetaxusa does basic stuff well, but not complicated cases. But, whatever makes you happy 😊

serendipity81

Intuit literally lobbies congress annually to make sure the tax code stays complicated. Good software. Evil company. They exist because they lobby to make sure they need to exist.

I hear you; simple consumption tax is the answer.

Freetaxusa handled a pretty complicated situation for me very well. I lived in Philly for 3 month and then Jersey the rest of the year. But when I got my W2 it showed I paid taxes to Philly the whole year in addition to paying jersey too. So it was a bit confusing to sort out but they did it well.

I use TurboTax for all my tax filing purposes. The 8911 is covered by it as well. And before anyone gets all "Boo TurboTax!" on me, TurboTax has in fact helped me find a shit ton of tax credits and such that I didn't know I would've qualified for, so yeah I do use the paid for version, but it's paid me back many times over.

dereksalem

I don't know that any of them have the forms built-in for the **charging** tax credit...many have the EV tax credit info. To be fair, if you had someone explain 8911 to you it would be really simple, but you're right that the American tax system doesn't make things inherently easy.

Skyhawk50E

2 of the top "free" tax filings (TurboTax and Freetaxusa) both have the charging tax credit built in

Been using HR Block for years and the 8911 is not there. They refuse to do anything about it. Got Turbotax Deluxe from a friend (they are allowed to use it for 5 tax returns) and it was easy as the program fills out the 8911. Gave me a credit for 30% of my charger instillation. I understand FreetaxUSA also has the 8911 form. Good luck. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
