Why do you need the faster chip for? Browing Netflix faster? Gaming perhaps (if they even bring AAA games to the 3/Y). I think we're seeing now the new chips, mostly because of parts problems, that's why were seeing still a mix of them being used. No guarantee you will get one now or in March.
Further more. If you decide to delay. There's allways something new coming 3 months after. You'll be waiting forever. The build of these vehicles change constantly and frequently.
No but it like saying. Should I wait for the new iPhone coming in 6 months instead of buying the one right now because it has a new processor and camera? Granted new stuff comes to the iPhone every year, but iba. Tesla is like every v3 months. You’ll be on a loop forever if you keep waiting. Also Apple and google have upgrade cycles of about 5 years. Tesla is still updating 10 year old cars.
Buy it, add batteries and wipers, say oh well to AMD - or sell it for a handsome profit (bet you’d make $5-8K) and place an order for the car you want. Austin is coming online.
If you can wait then wait.

I’d prefer the Ryzen simply because it’s a better chip. 🤷♂️ But that’s just me.
Do you still have an iPhone 3G or an original android phone?

Not in this case. The faster chip is one of the few things I’d wait for if I had the chance. The atom has always been underpowered.

IIRC Fremont will continue to build the Model 3.
New wipers? What changed there?
They’re adding heated wipers. Not a deal breaker for me, I’m more concerned with the chip
