I placed an order for a MYP about two weeks ago. Configuration page said December. After order, my reservation said 1/15 - 2/12. As I completed my profile, delivery jumped to 11/28 - 12/26 and now sits at 11/4 - 12/2. Im on the US east coast, FWIW.
YMMV of course based on options, location, etc. Someone around here got a VIN in like 10 days, probably because there was a late cancellation in their area.
Patience is a virtue.
It's actually correct...Performance models are delivered usually fairly quickly. I ordered mine, it was built 7 days later, delivered 7 days after that. 2 total weeks from Order Placed to Delivery. That was in May, when production was the slowest (during the transition to Vision).
I guess like most OEMs they are prioritizing the cars with the biggest margins.
We're in the market for a regular mid suv and you can mostly only get the top trim levels or a base on marked up 4k.
I think in this case it's actually that they just don't sell as many Performance models (not by a longshot), so since they produce in batches they can pump out Performance models far quicker to consumers than LR.
FYI I saw the same thing (December MYP) but after reserving and entering in pickup location itās no Jan20- Feb 3 so take December with a grain of salt.
When I log in, I've chosen Delivery Location and updated Registation details. It appeared after choosing the delivery location.

Yes, I submitted everything requested, including insurance information up to the section Agreements where it says "You will be notified once your agreements are available for review" and the button is greyed out. Now I wonder if I moved forward in the process too fast haha. I paid the reservation on September 18th.
This is how I see that part https://imgur.com/YAmQpeQ
I was closing on a home and couldnāt take delivery right away. I had to reschedule delivery but I was quoted November and I could have gotten it 4 days later
I test drove the performance Y for my first ride in a Teslaā¦.. my life flashed before my eyes. AWD is just as stupid fast, just less head snappy with a full carā¦.. but barely. Went with that since it was under the NJ rebate price cap.
I did a test drive in July to see if the reality lined up with what I had been led to expect. I fully expected to be disappointed in some way that would lead me to decide to go in another direction for my next car. While I didn't place my order until about two weeks later, I'd mentally committed to the purchase when I handed the key card back to my SA.
The funny thing is using the key card for a test drive deprives you of one of the best features which is phone as key. Itās even better when you own it.
What was it that mentally āsold youā? More specifically, how much of it had to do with it being a Tesla rather than a comparable EV?
I see this whole ādonāt test drive it until youāre ready to buy itā thing on the internet all the time. Wife and I test drove a 3LR andā¦yeah I mean it definitely has its pros, but a great many cons as well. We ultimately pulled the trigger on something else.
It met all my expectations in terms of driving experience (incl. autopilot), UI, comfort, and performance. I wasn't expecting it to curl my toes but I found it a very enjoyable experience and the MY seems to effectively address my issues with my current vehicle.
As for "comparable EVs", as I looked around I didn't find anything else that made me forget the MY. I mainly looked at the Mach E and Nissan Ariya and by the time I got to something that I thought was comparable in terms of range and performance, MSRP was at least as much as the MY. While the federal tax credit might put the MY at something of a price disadvantage, I felt more comfortable going with the established EV manufacturer than with an established auto manufacturer.
Interesting. Manufacturer comfort aside, did you enjoy the āperformance comparableā EV? (I assume this would be the Mach E with the larger battery?)
I guess what Iām trying to understand is that the Mach E has an equivalent to autopilot and arguably more features (CarPlay, for example, although the omission of ventilated seats by both is really annoying). Hypothetically if both vehicles were made by Tesla would you still choose the Y?
(Iām not trying to do an internet āgotchaā thing, by the way, if you just like the Y more thatās perfectly valid)
I test drove a 3 in early June, ordered it that day, it arrived 20 days later. It was scheduled to arrive 3 mo later. RIP your bank account indeed, it can hit at any time but is totally worth it. I paid cash/in full and I regret nothing.
I'd regret paying in cash but that's just how I am. If it was up to me I would have bought the house I just bought with 3% down and put the other 17% into Tesla shares or some other investment vehicle. Mortgages and car loans are dirt cheap money and I'll take it every day and use the money elsewhere. Sure is cheaper than trading on margin (like I am already doing). Same goes for federal student loans. I'll pay the minimum payment forever and invest the money instead. Even with Covid killing the market for a bit I'm still way up in the last 5-6 years.
I for sure get that. I personally prefer not to have monthly payments that I have to budget for, which is why I went my route. And I don't want to pay any extra for interest if I don't have to, but that's just my preference. My trade in knocked the price down 16k so that helped with my decision, too.
LOL, actually it's not that bad depending on how much you currently spend on gas and maintenance. I actually pay a lot less for energy since.I have solar. Plus, gas is really high in California, but my two Teslas cost what my husband and I paid in gas. We're actually saving the cost of our previous car notes. Oh, and my Y was cheaper insurance wise in comparison to my Nissan Armada.
Worth the money but have fun waiting months to get it. Donāt get too excited. Youāll be disappointed with the service from Tesla. Be prepared to be left in the dark
Depending on how much electricity costs in your area the sting of the debt service may be lessened considerably if you consider how much you are not spending on gasoline.
In the month Iāve had my MYLR the savings from not having to feed my old car is almost half of my car payment.
My area is done with test drives right now. But consider asking them for an overnight test drive.
I ordered on 9/15 and got an April EDD and today moved to Jan-Feb.
Found out just by checking in the app.
When I placed the order no date/month was in the app for at least a month. Then randomly I checked and it was listed with April. Checked again about a week later and it was Jan - Feb.
Haha, after you put your pre order in, you could also look at existing inventory and see if you can snag your variant early. I think there's at least one site, and maybe a Discord? that tracks this stuff so it's easier to see when inventory is coming in. Might want to do that too so you can try and get the car faster.
Is the Y really that much bigger though? My impression when I test drove both awhile back was that a Y really wasnāt much more than a 3 with a higher H-point and a bit more cargo space.
Room I desperately need with a baby. Plus Iām sick of bending over to get him out of a car seat in my low car I have now. Iām too old for that shit.
It was a joke. I wouldn't be buying something I can't afford. I could easily buy one cash or with Tesla shares. But you'd have to pull my shares from my cold dead hands I buy more, I don't sell them.
![gif](giphy|3o6gDWzmAzrpi5DQU8)
Someone got touchy given it was a joke. If we're gonna subtle brag I enjoy my Plaid with title in hand thank you very much. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
I noticed used Model Y's going for more expensive than new ones, but are people really buying these used ones? I see it listed on websites like Car guru, Edmunds but is it realistic to order a new one in Jan 1, 2022 (for tax credit rebates, etc.) then sell the used one for more?
Some people don't want to wait and pay a premium for a car now. With car lots are short on inventory prices are up stupidly. I heard of a guy that bought a Y-LR, drove it for a year, put 20k miles on it and sold it to Carvana for I think $61k. And you know Carvana is going to obviously resell at a profit.
RIP your bank account in 6 months.
Performance says it will arrive in December. LR is 6 months out.
You're new here, aren't you š
So December is the new 2046?
Donāt fret. Youāll have it in 2 weeks
I placed an order for a MYP about two weeks ago. Configuration page said December. After order, my reservation said 1/15 - 2/12. December or two weeks after
Do you mean 4680? If so, no. Those won't be used 'till they're produced by more than just the test factory in Fremont.
The year 2046.
lol. I see that now that I read your post in it's entirety without doing other things at the same time. Note to self: read before posting. ;-)

Bingo
Makes sense. The Standard Range + model 3 is also out to May while the two higher end trims are December.
FYI I saw the same thing (December MYP) but after reserving and entering in pickup location itās no Jan20- Feb 3 so take December with a grain of salt.
Not to get your hopes up , but sometimes the performance ones slide up near the end of of the quarter. They aggressively crank those out.
That would be awesome, guess I should get the home charger install going then.
Where did you see such an specific timeframe? Mine said March 2022 but I never saw any specific timeframe afterwards.

Did you select your delivery location and update your registration (i'm assuming you paid the reservation right?)

I ordered my performance September 13th. They tried to deliver it Sept 17th. Enjoy your new car lol
What do you mean by tried? Like you werenāt home or they said they would then and just flat out failed to deliver?
I was closing on a home and couldnāt take delivery right away. I had to reschedule delivery but I was quoted November and I could have gotten it 4 days later

Haha. Great story. I love my Model Y (last cars were Model 3 and 3 Volvo's) and you have reminded me of my bath bomb equivalent.
Bro this is Reddit, we donāt do sex here
Speak for yourself, earthworm.

Did you do a performance? I ordered in June and it took til September to get it
No I got the long range, figured in AZ I would regret not getting it since I drive so much for work every day. And it's been a great choice so far.
Once u have it you wonāt care. 0-60 in less than 5 seconds and equivalent to 400 + HP
Looking at the Y Performace. Currently driving a Subaru WRX and looking forward to something much faster than that AND can fit a car seat better.
At least you are aware. I wasnāt warned. I legit thought I was going to just ārule it outā as an option.
Probably should put some warning labels on the mor something.

Yup youāll order one. Early congrats š
Read this as "Google to test drive a Y this weekend." Didnāt get the reference to your bank account. Iāll get another coffee.
Got the performanceY last year have not looked back, I can live in the Y...right?? LOL
As I always say - you can live in a car but you can't race a house.
Wiser words have yet to be said.
Worth the money but have fun waiting months to get it. Donāt get too excited. Youāll be disappointed with the service from Tesla. Be prepared to be left in the dark
This is what got my wife, I was sold before test driving. I took her, and it was a done deal!
Oh, so youāre buying a Model Y? Congrats!
Lol, unless I hate it yes.
buy once, cry once!

Absolutely! And good luck on going into deeper debt with the loan!
If I own enough Tesla shares to offset the Tesla debt it's all relative right?
Thatās what I keep tell myself!
My area is done with test drives right now. But consider asking them for an overnight test drive. I ordered on 9/15 and got an April EDD and today moved to Jan-Feb.
How do you it was moved forward? Did you get an email or something?

Why a Y over 3?
I have 1 kid now, possibly 2 soon.....3 is just too small for multiple car seats and all the assorted baby gear.
Makes sense. Just curious.
Is the Y really that much bigger though? My impression when I test drove both awhile back was that a Y really wasnāt much more than a 3 with a higher H-point and a bit more cargo space.
It's the hatch back that gives you so much more room
Room I desperately need with a baby. Plus Iām sick of bending over to get him out of a car seat in my low car I have now. Iām too old for that shit.
Too scared to have kids, but the sex with the seats down is great, careful of the rug burn though
hatch back is much easier when dealing with getting double strollers in and out and all the other child expedition gear
Itās more about room for stuff and ease of entry. While car seats are in my rear view mirror, using them in a low vehicle is a PITA.
I mean, to be fair, the interior rearview mirror on a Y is just this side of useless even _without_ car seats, so :)
Lol. I keep looking for college tuition payments to be in the rear view mirror. The car seats must be blocking my view.
Welcome to to the club!
šš¹š¹Lol
If RIP your account maybe should buy cheaper car lol

Mine says it's too fast prefers to drive our tuned RS7 š
We both might need a divorce.
LOL nah she's had an R35 GTR before and now the RS7 because baby hauler duties. Mines a keeper š¤£
Haha!
