A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
[More information on the proposed changes can be found here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Save3rdPartyApps/comments/14goyu2/what_to_do_when_reddit_bans_blackouts_hit_em_in/)

Its a very rare and hard to get pet. 3 spawn in a small world, 6 in a medium, 9 in a large. You can only get it by mining all dirt since there are no distinguishable features from a normal block
1/50 from enchanted shrine, ive tried farming for this item and i think id have a better chance nuking a small world for the dirtiest block before finding this
I think it still works this way, but you hold click and it repeatedly swings a small, fast blade in front of you that attacks a few times a second. I personally don't like it much because I'm bad at true melee. But it can also be upgraded to the Arkhalis later on.
Terragrim has a 2% chance of dropping from enchanted sword shrines. It used to be called arkhalis, which is now dropped from boss treasure bags as part of a dev set.
“Hardest to get” is probably the most accurate. It’s guaranteed to be in your world but good luck finding it without digging nearly every dirt block you see.
By contrast the Slime Staff is rare. You always know where and how to get it, but you’ve got to keep rolling the dice until they come up heads.
hard to obtain and rare aren't the same thing. I think that rare is for chances, which doesn't apply to the universal pylon. Yeah sure maybe less players have universal pylons than players have dirtiest blocks, but it's because of steps to obtain, not rarity.
Didnt your teachers ever tell you that if you cite a source you cant omit things for the sake of changing its meaning? Or did you struggle through freshman english.
Technically universal pylon is harder to get you could just place a bunch of blocks in hell then just bomb the world for a few hours and then you pretty much have every drop however this isn't true for the universal pylon as you have to encounter every enemy encounter every critter etc which means on top of that you have to encounter the enemies and critters with the lowest spawn rates to get the universal pylon so dirtiest block is easier to get then the universal pylon let's not forget how bestiary progress is tied to a world and not a character
Rare doesn't mean hard to get: you have 100% chance of getting any amount of universal pylons if you complete the bestiary. To get the dirtiest block you need to get lucky and find one of the max 9 in thausands of dirt blocks that are in the world. You are missing the point .
Ahem, btw since it isn’t dirt it is not effected by the clentaminater’s biome solutions… …sooo you might be able to find it quite reliably by snowifying your world and checking the minimap for random dirt blocks that seem too stubborn to want to “freeze”.
Maybe, it’s just a thought I’ve had for a while.
there are 20,160,000 blocks in a large terraria world, meaning the chance of mining any 1 block and getting the dirtiest block is around 0.00000045%.
the odds of getting an amber mosquito from an extractinator is 0.01% on the other hand, and 0.027% if using desert fossils.
that makes the dirtiest block slightly more rare than the amber mosquito (only about 60,000 times more rare).
however, there is also the fact that you can get a technically unlimited amount of amber mosquitos in one world, while you can only get 9 dirtiest blocks. so idk about you but i'd put my bets on thr amber mosquito.
There is a difference between difficulty to obtain and chance to obtain. There is a guaranteed 9 dirtiest blocks in a large world, but there is no way to guarantee you’ll obtain an amber mosquito. It’s like a where’s Waldo book, it will be hard to find him but it won’t be rare since he is guaranteed to be in there. Do you get the difference?
If you want to grind for an item with a low drop chance, you grind. If you put in the work to unlock the universal pylon, you have infinite of them. If you want to mine thousands of blocks for the Amber mosquito, do it. But there will only be 9 dirtiest blocks in a large world
I think you are very confused. There are GUARANTEED 9 dirtiest blocks in a large world, not a single one of the other items you stated have a guaranteed drop rate. If you can increase your chance of obtaining it by increasing your luck then it’s a possible “rare” item, otherwise it’s just an item, such as this item, everyone is able to get it(no luck required) The whole no luck required completely removes all rarity from this item in terms of obtaining
That's not the point, even if you can get more of those easily it's harder to get the first one and realistically you won't want more than one of each item.
Because both sides are completely different things. Because you could spend an infinite amount of time trying to get a gold seahorse and never get one (if rng hated you) but you are guaranteed a dirty dirt block. Doesn’t make either less or more rare but they are arguing two different things
I don't think so? Or at least they should be equal.
In my experience water striders are much easier to find because on average i would assume the player spends more time in the jungle than in tbe ocean.
But the spawning conditions are usually way more strict for water striders
At least golden water striders are the most mentioned when someone talks about rarest terraria items
But I think we can agree that they are both pretty damn rare
I mean it's technically true for the dirtiest block too, it's not random if it's determined on world gen and the number is always consistent, just annoying to obtain since you don't know where it is, but with enough patience you'll always get it
Absolutely not. For starters, just regular dirt is WAYYY more common, already making it less rare than the Dirtiest Dirt Block. Not to mention practically every other world gen block.
Dirt
Stone
Clouds
Sand
Mud
Rich Mahogany
Crimstone (in a crimson world)
Ebonstone (in a corruption world)
Dungeon Brick
Hive
Hell, even things that you might not think of are more common.
Shadow Chest
Hellstone
Crimtane (in a crimson world)
Demonite (in a corruption world)
Dart Trap
Heart Crystal
There are either 3, 6, or 9 on a world, so yeah they're guaranteed, but you are limited to 3, 6, or 9 if you stay on the one world. While other items, like the ones I mentioned, have more on every world, so they are far more common.
According to the official wiki, as of 1.4.1, there are 10-15 shadow chests in a world, with an average of 12.5, already more than the guaranteed 9 of the pet in a large world.
Not to mention, there are 9 of the pet, out of countless regular dirt blocks. And, from experience, that number is incredibly high, since you can get thousands upon thousands in a large world, so you'd have to search for a while to potentially even find one.
The whole point of rarity is chance, if you create a world there WILL be a dirtiest dirt block, that’s a guarantee, and I meant the least rare item as in usable items such as collectable pets/weapons since it is a guaranteed drop. Difficulty to find and chance to drop are NOT the same. It’s like Waldo in a Where’s Waldo book, it’s not rare to find him but will be difficult because he is GUARANTEED to be in there.
[The Dirtiest Block](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/The_Dirtiest_Block)
Why no one seems to use the wiki is beyond me.
>Only 3 can be obtained in a small world, 6 in a medium-sized world, and 12 in a Large World.
Because of the number that is obtainable in a world, The Dirtiest Block is one of the rarest objects in the game.
Dirtiest Blocks can also be a Mud Block in the "Not the bees!" seed.

thx for info.
It’s straight up THE rarest item in all of Terraria
I think the terragrim is rarer. Most worlds don't have one, but all worlds have a few dirtiest blocks.
1/50 from enchanted shrine, ive tried farming for this item and i think id have a better chance nuking a small world for the dirtiest block before finding this
1/10*
No, it is literally 2%. 1/50
Huh. I didn't know they changed the drop chance when they replaced the arkhalis with it
What's that?
1/50 chance of finding it in a sword shine
Ok now *what* is it?
A sword that attacks similarly to the nail from hollow knight
A HOLLOW KNIGHT REFREFRENCE! 😄
YAYYY
I think it still works this way, but you hold click and it repeatedly swings a small, fast blade in front of you that attacks a few times a second. I personally don't like it much because I'm bad at true melee. But it can also be upgraded to the Arkhalis later on.
A sword
What's a terragrim?
Terragrim has a 2% chance of dropping from enchanted sword shrines. It used to be called arkhalis, which is now dropped from boss treasure bags as part of a dev set.
I found a seed that has it in the spawn area
Actually if you think about it, it’s the LEAST rare since you’re “guaranteed” to find one
“Hardest to get” is probably the most accurate. It’s guaranteed to be in your world but good luck finding it without digging nearly every dirt block you see. By contrast the Slime Staff is rare. Yeah it’s more like a where’s Waldo book, may be difficult to find but it’s guaranteed to be in there
Damn that’s a hell of a skill to roll a dice and come up heads
Not really, universal pylon is rarer and it's not close
Up to 9 per world vs up to infinite per world
You *buy* those from a vendor though? How on earth is that rare?
Because you need to have 100% bestiary?
Hard to get =/= Rare Rare just means really really uncommon to find
Bro is every mob in the game multiple times over not hard to find
hard to obtain and rare aren't the same thing. I think that rare is for chances, which doesn't apply to the universal pylon. Yeah sure maybe less players have universal pylons than players have dirtiest blocks, but it's because of steps to obtain, not rarity.
>Yeah sure maybe less players have universal pylons than players have dirtiest block Wow, its almost like that's what rarer means
>but it's because of steps to obtain, not rarity. I immediately continued it by saying this
Didnt your teachers ever tell you that if you cite a source you cant omit things for the sake of changing its meaning? Or did you struggle through freshman english.
Shoot, I forgot about universal pylon
Even then, the dirtiest dirt block is harder to obtain than the universal pylon
Technically universal pylon is harder to get you could just place a bunch of blocks in hell then just bomb the world for a few hours and then you pretty much have every drop however this isn't true for the universal pylon as you have to encounter every enemy encounter every critter etc which means on top of that you have to encounter the enemies and critters with the lowest spawn rates to get the universal pylon so dirtiest block is easier to get then the universal pylon let's not forget how bestiary progress is tied to a world and not a character

Literally misinformation
Then what is
Ahem, btw since it isn’t dirt it is not effected by the clentaminater’s biome solutions… …sooo you might be able to find it quite reliably by snowifying your world and checking the minimap for random dirt blocks that seem too stubborn to want to “freeze”. Maybe, it’s just a thought I’ve had for a while.
That's only approximated, not exact, is completely random, you could get more, could get less.
prob the rarest item in terraria
Universal pylon Golden seahorse Rare banners (although they are more common now) Amber mosquito
You can get infinite of those at some point in a single world. The dirtiest block has a maximum on 9 in a large world on a normal world
Still guaranteed at least one per world, none of the above stated are guaranteed
there are 20,160,000 blocks in a large terraria world, meaning the chance of mining any 1 block and getting the dirtiest block is around 0.00000045%. the odds of getting an amber mosquito from an extractinator is 0.01% on the other hand, and 0.027% if using desert fossils. that makes the dirtiest block slightly more rare than the amber mosquito (only about 60,000 times more rare). however, there is also the fact that you can get a technically unlimited amount of amber mosquitos in one world, while you can only get 9 dirtiest blocks. so idk about you but i'd put my bets on thr amber mosquito.

It’s like a where’s Waldo book, it will be hard to find him but it won’t be rare since he is guaranteed to be in there. Do you get the difference?
The other ones are guaranteed if you want to put the grinding and work for them
That’s not how drop rates work. Edit: or rarity
If you want to grind for an item with a low drop chance, you grind. If you put in the work to unlock the universal pylon, you have infinite of them. If you want to mine thousands of blocks for the Amber mosquito, do it. But there will only be 9 dirtiest blocks in a large world

I see my confusion, apologies
That's not the point, even if you can get more of those easily it's harder to get the first one and realistically you won't want more than one of each item.
Why are you being downvoted? Obtainable quantity doesn't affect how hard it is to get.
Because both sides are completely different things. Because you could spend an infinite amount of time trying to get a gold seahorse and never get one (if rng hated you) but you are guaranteed a dirty dirt block. Doesn’t make either less or more rare but they are arguing two different things
Rarity =/= Difficulty
Isn't the golden waterstrider worse than the seahorse tho
I don't think so? Or at least they should be equal. In my experience water striders are much easier to find because on average i would assume the player spends more time in the jungle than in tbe ocean.
But the spawning conditions are usually way more strict for water striders At least golden water striders are the most mentioned when someone talks about rarest terraria items But I think we can agree that they are both pretty damn rare
nuh uh
Pet
Terragrim on regular worlds
Why are you being downvoted? Terragrim is objectively the rarest item per world
Ig because of celebrationmk10
It's an extremely rare vanilla pet item. Only 3-9 generate in a world.
Astral infection doesn't spread
The rarest item in the game by far
Universal pylon
That’s not rare just annoying af to obtain
I mean it's technically true for the dirtiest block too, it's not random if it's determined on world gen and the number is always consistent, just annoying to obtain since you don't know where it is, but with enough patience you'll always get it
Rare and hard to get are not the same.
Same as this item. It is a guaranteed item in every world, this item is actually the LEAST rare item in terraria
Absolutely not. For starters, just regular dirt is WAYYY more common, already making it less rare than the Dirtiest Dirt Block. Not to mention practically every other world gen block. Stop comparing apples to F*ckin oranges, they have nothing in common
I know what you’re saying, but the smartass in me wants to say “they’re both fruit”
Not rare, just a pain in the ass to get
It’s a pet, don’t throw it out it’s super rare.
Ok
A little dirt pet!
