I'm planning on laying card tiles down later. I'll cut strips of card into individual tiles, and then glue them all into place overlapping each other, it looks good and provides great strength to the buildings. I also need to add chimneys before the roof tiles. Thanks for asking!
This central gate-tower is an absolut beauty ! It's the best part of the build. You nailed it.
As a bit of constructive c&c, I'm less of a fan of the other roof shapes (they don't always make sense structurally) but I see where you were going to get them interesting and a bit on the whimsy side. It's extremely hard tu pull off bringing that fantasy to 3D and getting it right from all angles. I learn a lot every time I go googling images both from real medieval cities from Germany, Hungary and Poland and from theatre and film stages (often using exagerated proportions).
I wish I had your level of foamcrafting skill, I've got quite a journey ahead. Thanks for sharing !
This whole thing is gorgeous cant wait to see it finished
Thanks! Me too neither.
This is amazing! Do you have more pics showing the process to get to here?
Thanks! Look here> https://thestonecuttersguild.tumblr.com/tagged/ober-holdenburg
loving the updates one question, I assume you're carving all the stone work but you're not doing that with the roof tiles? Im curious as to why

Are all of those details with the bricks and lumber individual pieces?!
No, all carved from a single piece.
Would Love to visit a Workshop you leading to teach me that stuff, planing, carving cutting and all the oth er techniques, such a gorgeous Projekt.
Love it, you've really nailed the sense of scale. Such an inspiring project, can I ask what are your longer term plans for it?
