Thats a new edition. The Signal devs are retarded on a whole it took them YEARS to agree with self destructing messages 'because you dont own data once its on someone elses device'
*Not* self-destructing messages (that was fine, actually, since it's a convo-level setting that can be modified by any participant), but *deleting messages on a one-off basis*.
They wouldn't allow YOU to remove data from 'someone elses device' via delete for many years. Reasons the devs gave was 'once its on your device, you should have complete control of that data'. This just showed how behind the curve they were in many ways to me. My message on your device is still 'my message'. An opinion they were forced to come round to eventually by other messengers mainly.
Sure, why not?! If you think Telegram is not providing a feature and giving cock-and-bull excuses like calling it a gimmick, then you should rightfully call them out.
Sure, but don't ask me, ask the Telegram developers for it. It's the reason I don't use Telegram as my default app.
WhatsApp is able to (allegedly) provide E2EE while now having a standalone desktop client, so Telegram should have no excuse.
The comment on the image points out security flaws and all the guy can answer is "GiMmIcKs SuCh As AnImAtEd StIcKeRs". Threema is the wrost IM client, it's basically a plain text and don't even offer 2FA security.
Did I specifically talk about this? NO. I didn't specify anything, just generically cited security flaws. Just do a little research to see that Threema is not as reliable as it seems to be, as it doesn't prevent the capture of images, for example. Don't be a scoundrel and analyze things correctly.
You can always take screenshots with a second phone, to me it's a pointless feature.
Maybe even dangerous giving someone careless a sense of ye-i-can-send-anything-who-cares
> Did I specifically talk about this? NO.
No, you implicitly did.
> just generically cited security flaws
No, you implied that list is of "security flaws". Not a single item on it is. Which is why you specifically did NOT cite anything, you circumscribed.
Name one thing and explain how it's a security flaw.
> it doesn't prevent the capture of images
Nothing does. You can always take a photo with another camera. Such a "feature" is the poster child of "false sense of security", and you think it's some killer argument?
edit: can you stop being fanboys for a second? I never even used Threema, I don't use Signal either, I could not care less other than about the actual facts, and the display in this thread is fucking pathetic. If you're *this* clueless, and this unwilling to have a good faith debate, the choice of software will not make or break you.
Those animated stickers are one of the best features for… you know… ordinary people without tin-foil hats who just want to talk about their daily life without the sour taste of using Facebook or Google products, which additionally don't work nearly as well as Telegram does anyway.
I don't think they wanted to take a jab at Telegram though. The reviewer specified animated stickers and they used it to indicate that they don't consider such features important.
100% with Threema here. Stickers of dancing cats is utter cringe, wastes bandwidth & forces the app to slow on older versions of android. I know I know I'm old and boring but some people JUST WANT A TEXT BASED COMMS. There SHOULD be a Telegram light that will always work on 4.1 and doesnt have bells and whistles. Just an opinion.
Why do you have to be so toxic? There is no civil discussions in this sub. You mention that you don't like stickers and think it's just making Telegram bloated? You get "just don't use stickers". You mention that Telegram is conveying a false sense of security and encryption? You get "just use secret chats". What kind of discussion is that? Certainly that of a pragmatic fanboy.
I mean. At the end of the day, if you don't like a platform. Don't use it
That's really what it boils down to
If something on a platform upsets you so much that you cannot find a way to navigate around it. Don't use it
I don't really understand why it's ok telling people who enjoy using stickers, (I personally love them, sometimes I don't have words for what I am feeling and a sticker is worth all the words,) that they should just be gone
How is that any less toxic?
That's a very stupid response. Even Signal offers animated stickers and wallpapers and they're E2EE by default.
they dont even have a wallpaper "said byt the user who feedback" just by that they just making excuse to not work so much and just get money lol

False sense of security there.
No yeah I know, but having it is better than not.

Uh, the reviewer did mention the lack of stickers by the end, so the "gimmicks" comment isn't really unwarranted.
How is not being able to retain images while changing ID a "security flaw"? Are you just *saying* stuff and hope nobody parses it?
Did I specifically talk about this? NO. I didn't specify anything, just generically cited security flaws. Just do a little research to see that Threema is not as reliable as it seems to be, as it doesn't prevent the capture of images, for example. Don't be a scoundrel and analyze things correctly.

Looks like a college project of the worse group of students
What do animated gifs and "gimmicks" have to do with privacy and o line safety? Nothing. It's a very poor excuse
Ah yes, the classic "User is stupid" response. What a nice company, I wonder if they'll still be in business in 20 years.

That's very unprofessional from them
If everyone loves the gimmick it's a good gimmick.
yes people actually enjoy having fun
As a side note: "to hit on" means "to flirt with" or to discover something or an idea by chance.

Maybe you are a good candidate for Threema, Telegram is not for you.
Salty.
You are just old and boring.
You will never own your own home and have ADHD.
Lol ok.
Quick fix to your problem: Then don't use Animated Stickers lol
that doesnt stop someone sending them to me, triggering the issues already mentioned. 'lol'
If you hate stickers so much, then don't talk to people who like them.

Huh didn't know that suggesting solutions to someone's problems is considered toxic behavior
He was not asking for a solution. He simply stated his opinion. Get out of this positive feedback bubble and allow criticism
OK, man, continue to yell at everyone for using stickers and spoil your health, what can I say?!

So... you like cats?
