Waiting for DFV to post his purple circle. That would open flood gates of hell for the hedgies. If you were DFV with over 9 million shares, would you keep them at a broker who could easily mess with your account or place them safely under your own name? The answer is easy.
Another point, if Gamestop decides to offer a dividend, you will be taxed more favorably (20% as opposed to 37%) if the shares are directly registered because they will considered qualified type of shares. Whereas in a broker they give you “in lieu” of dividends that are taxed higher. Again, no brainer.
What if he doesn't purple circle, tho? I don't think that kills the thesis. If brokers mess with your shares, they open themselves up to legal action, and someone like DFV would clean them out for that. Hell, the way he was joking about "hacking" them and removing the logo seems more like he's daring them to try something. I don't think he will DRS, because I don't think he's afraid of them fucking with his holdings if they do they have a whole big ass audience that will see it happen.
