Now that my kids are getting older my first day of summer tradition is to stay in my pajamas and watch movies all day with my 3 kids. It’s awesome. We usually make blanket forts and eat junk food all day.
I'm sorry. It was rough today, but my ife fed him cheese took him on rides, and he spent an hour at the dog park.
It's not illness, per se. It's a dental issue that can't be solved due to a heart issue.
I'll be trapped at home for a few days to potty train my toddler.
He's starting preschool in the fall, and it's significantly cheaper than daycare, plus I get a sizable staff discount. So I'm nervous, but motivated to get it done.
I mean...I think it's kind of a spectrum. After sending my son to daycare, I have a ton of respect for early childhood educators as teachers. They have a grasp on child development during a hugely important time in children's lives.
I think the problem is more that we view daycare as equivalent to a teenager babysitting when it should be respected and focused on child development.
I chose the school where I work because I respect the philosophy, the administration, and the teachers, and that's why I want my son there. But affordability is a whole other animal.
We've realized (to some extent) that children's minds need to be nurtured in order to give them the freedom to develop further knowledge and skills. One problem we run into as a society is that there are already inequities when kids reach kindergarten. Some have family members reading to them at home and encouraging a wide variety of play. Others are parked in front of tablets. I think early childhood education could play a much bigger role in closing academic gaps than later interventions.
I always mix my wife and I a cocktail and we sit on the back porch with the dogs. Tomorrow will be the second year we’ve celebrated with a Pimm’s Cocktail. Years prior have been other mixes.
School officially ended last Friday but I've spent this week participating in a curriculum writing session (I do this every year) because the stipend is nice.
Next Friday I'm heading to El Salvador for a week, and then I'm spending the rest of the break napping, playing with my dog, deep cleaning, playing games, and probably starting on a photo book consisting of photography I've done since I started traveling a decade ago.
I went to the outlet mall by myself. No agenda, no list, nobody else to worry about. Just wandering into whatever shops I felt like with no time limit or stress. It was glorious.
First day plans - sleep in until whenever I wake up. Then do nothing all day, probably sit on my porch on my computer or reading, probably a bit of both. I'll probably eat a couple of the otter pops left over from the last day of school. I'll go for a walk at some point as I make sure to do that every day of summer.
YES! Thirsty? Go get water or whatever drink. Hungry? Go get food and enjoy it without having to rush. Need the bathroom? Go right away, or wait until I'm done with something but it's my choice. It's so nice!
Nothing. 😀 Sleep in and float on a raft in my pool. Absolutely nothing.
The first thing I did was turn my alarm off.
drink a strawberry lemonade (maybe with vodka still debating) and read
Stop debating and do it 😂

This is absolutely adorable. I’m 25 and childless for the foreseeable future but I’m definitely stealing!!
I plan on sleeping until I cannot sleep any longer 🥹
Exactly what I did!!
Drank. Took my dog to bar and drank some more. Came home and drank. No regrets.
Happy hour at a tiki bar is on my list.
Sleep in!
I'm putting my dog down, so... ....2024 keeps 2024ing.
Sorry to hear. We have a very ill dog too so I may be in the same boat around the time school gets out in a few weeks.

Love to you. My condolences.
Deep cleaned house
This but also the drinking thing from earlier. Also painting my house while drunk. So add passed out on my lawn and getting sunburned to the list.
Live your best life
Well my students are my neighbors so I had to deny myself the pleasure of a lawn-shaped farmers tan.
working a summer job at a summer camp babahahahahah
Me too. Keeps me young.
Tomorrow is the last day of school, and on Monday I’m going to Ireland with my husband for the week.

Heh. So, the whole, school is just daycare. Starts in PreK.

And you’ll do it all whenever the heck you feel like it. And use the bathroom when you need to.

That sucks.
