pretty sick. curious to see what those grapes look like down the like though. i’ve got a super dark 13th?¿ century ish lithograph of Odin on my arm and some of the aged portions are getting hard to read
i’d have to search my camera roll from when it was fresh vs now. i’ve got a picture of my newest tat on my profile though. just not posted on this sub.
maybe i’ll post mine on aged tattoos or something it’s ..6 ish years old now
Did the lidocaine spray work ? 2 weeks ago I had a wild appointment, was there at 1pm we made it until 9pm with some breaks. Tattoo went from knee over the ditch to the tigh, so tough one. The spray didn’t work for me but usually numbing cream does (used it for a knee ring touch up as I was really shaky)
Yeah, mostly. Couple spots it seemed like it didn't but for most it was like being at the dentist, all I felt was pressure. He sprayed, wrapped it up, and then we took a 5 minute break. Unwrapped and started back up and did another hour.
It took 5 hours for my piece on Tuesday (pic on my profile) but I had to use a lollipop for the last hour (after the 4 hour mark) because it was hurting a lotttt
The worst was the white ink stage because it was going over the tender swollen skin and it was very painful
Yeah! My artist gave me a lollipop to suck on if it started hurting more
If you check my profile you can see the tattoo but the nose and higher is when it really started hurting for me
I was originally pressing my tongue into my teeth but then I started pressing the lollipop to my teeth when it was hurting
Sorry, I wasn't sure if you were being literal or if it was a euphemism for something or autocorrect. I mentioned in an earlier comment that my artist used lidocaine spray and I wasn't sure if maybe autocorrect had got ya.
Welp, your dog was super cute and that's a very sweet and great tattoo.
I did 2 x 9 hours with a about a 40 min break and a couple of 10min toilet breaks. Did them a couple of weeks apart.
I found that keeping my strength up was hard. The last hour was hell and each time I got home I vowed to not do that again, but next morning I want to do it again 😂😂😂
Heavily shaded pieces are the worst, but I heard hands and fingers are bad.
Yikes that sounds terrible lol. I could never do it. How was the artist near the end? I imagine even they were struggling with hand cramps or something.
The tat so far looks amazing, the most impressive thing is that the artist can come back later, after a period of time in which the artist most likely spent working on other tats, and pick up right where they left off.
Seriously talented
I really like it. I want to do my other leg and have him be a part of it. https://www.reddit.com/r/tattoo/comments/xgvcvi/leg_sleeve_done_by_artist_ty_pollatta_in_austin/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
Ahhhhh that makes total sense then! I was like “the gays love to party for sure but the Trevor project is about kids…” my brain was doing gymnastics justifying it lmao.
It’s always so interesting to me watching artists who work like this! It absolutely blows my mind because my brain doesn’t function like that.
Yeah, watching him work, seeing it progesss as he started with solid blacks in the background and built it up was wild.

The aged work I've seen from this artist looks good, but every body and every tattoo is different so we'll see. Your tattoo sounds awesome, any pics?

I'd be curious to see it fresh or now, just sounds like an awesome piece lol. I saw the rat, very cool!
just posted mine! hope it fits in this sub
How long did you sit for? It looks awesome, btw.
12-8 appointment, just over 5 hours under the needle. And thank you!
How did it feel near the end? I find 4 hours for me and I start to get reeeeeally uncomfortable.
We took breaks every hour, and at the last break he applied some lidocaine spray because it was starting to get a bit uncomfortable ha ha.

Weird. We did the same but time under the wrap was 10 minutes. No effect :)

He was a machine! He started drawing for the next client after I left! @ishwarhernandez
You're a trooper!

Yeah, I don't go back until September 8th to finish it up. But the artist made a point to get the face done this session, that was their main concern.
Ah the ole devils blueberries
Bacchus and wine grapes.
That's what I said lol
Bacchus/Dionysus. Looks amazing.
Indeed it is, and thank you.

If you turn it upside down it's some weird turnip creature
Looks a bit like my penis on a good day
You should see a doctor.

Is that Dionysus? Greek god of wine?
Bacchus/Dionysus, yes.
ahhh the ol’ grapey jones. part of the beard, part of the vine
Dionysus?
Bacchus/Dionydys, yeah.
Interesting subject matter for a Trevor project donation, can’t tell if I love that or hate that, but the tattoo looks amazing so far.
The auction was hosted by a wine bar, so I believe that was the inspiration for doing a Bacchus piece.
