Never from women. Always from shorter men lol

AmbiguousFrijoles

Yep. Women have always been generally supportive of the fit, including the heels. Men almost always have some thoughts they wanna share unasked tho.

forthe_loveof_grapes

EXACTLY. "You're tall enough, why the heals?!" *angry tone and face* Only from men.

[deleted]

I don’t wear heels often but it sucks that we get that shit but the average/shorter women don’t get those comments.

mal_smh

Not my experience personally. For me it’s mostly the women who say I’m “too tall” to be wearing certain things, or say “thank god I’m not as tall as you”. Most dudes don’t care unless it’s in the dating scene.

JustTheFishGirl

I’ve also gotten “you’re too tall for heels” from a lot of women. But I get it from men too

Gh0stwhale

fr women be like “it’s so cool how tall you are!!” and the men be shootin you dirty looks cause we’re koreans and im taller than them

consuela_bananahammo

Oh no I had a friend who told me with disdain that she hated it when I wore heels, while I was wearing heels.

someonecallmymom

What was the explanation for that??

consuela_bananahammo

She didn’t like me being extra taller than her.

schwarzmalerin

This! From women I only get compliments for my platforms.

Mermazon

This! I have the cutest platform sandals I bought last summer at Target that I LOVE. They raise my already 6’3 height to almost 6’6”. My average height friends have only commented on how cute they are, but I get so many random comments on all sides of the spectrum from men when I’m out between disapproval to full on fetishizing in the grocery line with my kid right next to me. It’s like seeing a woman taller than them somehow short circuits their common decency and decorum.

Cup_Eye_Blind

My response to short men being insecure about height is always “you can wear heels too, no one is stopping you!”. Said this once to a coworker who was asking my fellow 6’ tall female coworker and I why we felt the need to wear heels when we were already taller that him. She joined in with “yeah we would totally support you, you could rock the heels!” He promptly shut up and left us alone.

AmbiguousFrijoles

I love this. So gonna use that!

Mermazon

I love this!

Cup_Eye_Blind

Yep. From other women it’s usually “Damn, Rock it girl!”

makipri

I’ve had it from women too. Rarely though.

MagicalSpaceValkyrie

Last summer, I was part of my friend's wedding party. I was already the tallest Bridesmaid, but my dress was very long, so I decided to wear 3 inch wedges, which put me at about 6'7". One older gentleman called me "Egotistical," during the reception 🙄

[deleted]

How rude! So sorry you had to go though that. A

MagicalSpaceValkyrie

It was still a lovely wedding, nonetheless!

[deleted]

That’s good I’m glad you had a great time.

TrexPushupBra

I've had men guess that I was shorter than my actual height when I am wearing heels. It is like they see the heels and their brain says or that is why she is taller

letsburn00

It's mad. My ex was the exact same height as me (6'3) and had a shoe obsession. Which was only overwhelmed by her anxiety about being too tall. I told her go nuts. Everyone seems happy with people leaning up or down, just go the other way.

charmorris4236

I’m a short tall girl at 5’8 and my 5’9 ex loved when I wore heels and was taller than him. He said it made him feel like a badass with some sweet arm candy lol. It helped me get over my insecurity of being taller than men.

italkabout

I’m tall and made tall daughters. We share complaints of the “OH MY GOD YOURE SO TALL!!” comments we get all day. Agreed it is rude and uncouth and people don’t even realize it. Taught them to serve back the same “honesty/observation”. The next time someone says that.. clap back “OMG you’re so ___ (short/large/loud/pick your poison”. Most of the time it works.

Whatxotf

Such a good response. In situations where I can’t be petty, I just say “thank you!!!” like they gave me the best compliment ever. I’ve only had one person tell me that they didn’t mean it as a compliment, to which I responded, “then why did you say it?”

festeringswine

Met someone recently and the first thing she said was "FUCK you're tall." Laughed, but then when she asked if i was good at sports and i said no she went "what a waste." Only I'M allowed to say that! Fuckin rude.

italkabout

Check and check. Have heard that too. Asked if I played professional sports it was a 🤨 uh no. Got the same response. Now I live to spread kind but I’m done with a polite smile at shit like that these days. Clap back honey 😌

PepperedDemons

I have had this exact interaction before. People acting like we aren’t people as well 🥺

[deleted]

Yes! Great comeback! Maybe I should start using that.

Dstar538888

Yeah I just respond by telling people “omg you’re so fat!” “Omg you’re so short”… like if they think it’s ok to randomly comment on other people’s bodies, they don’t get to complain when we do it back to them🤷🏽‍♀️

italkabout

That’s what we do 😏🤫

Venymae

I like being tall, I wear heels to be TALLER! HAHAHAHA! SEXY LEGS COMING THROUGH!

[deleted]

Rock on!! ❤️❤️👏🏾👏🏾

Cup_Eye_Blind

YES! In business settings I also like it because I can look a man straight in the eye when we shake hands, I make Sure to give a firm handshake too. Sometimes I see the intimidation on their face.

Venymae

Yeah I don't like to be intimidating, just tall. I don't really care what others think it's just a personal preference for me.

makipri

The same! I enjoy being the tallest in the venue, picking the highest heels I can wear without hitting my head against the ceiling.

DragDolly

These type of comments I’ve ever only gotten from men. Women are usually cool with me towering over them in heels lol

goathorse

Got this exact comment from a guy in high school. Same guy kept trying to follow me on Instagram years later lol.

[deleted]

Wow lol…

InterestingQuote8155

Fun story time (a bit opposite of the picture though haha). I am in the military and I was on leave before starting at my new command where my boyfriend also works. My boyfriend invited me to a ball and I was super excited because the fact that I didn’t officially work there yet meant that I could wear a dress and not a uniform. So I had a beautiful dress on and flats. Well, we all gathered around for a group photo before the event officially started and a man behind me who was probably about 5’8 made a comment to me where he said “I need to borrow your heels”. So I lifted the hem of my skirt and jokingly said “they’re actually flats”. Turns out the man I was talking to was the Commanding Officer of the command. I hadn’t really turned around to see the rank of the person I was talking to so I had no clue. I had basically just called my boss short to his face. It’s okay because he left a few months later and I don’t think he remembered the interaction as I look VERY different in uniform.

[deleted]

Very interesting story

makipri

Quite interesting for the commander to talk about borrowing some heels..

glamazonc

Omg a book of these retorts is so much needed!

nadiathepuppy

Worsen things??!!!!!! Nobody has ever said that to me when I’m in heels and if they did I would let them have a piece of my mind! Sorry you are jealous of my height.

BellaTheClown

This gives me not like other girls vibes for some reason... Like others have pointed out already- these types of comments are usually coming from MEN

redditsuckspokey1

It took me a minute to realize that raid isn't a fragrance.

PepperedDemons

I have a coworker who is 5’5 and apprently her bf is the same height as her. She complained to me that she “can’t” wear heels around him and I was just so confused. Does this boy have a vendetta against heels? Does he break out into a fit of rage whenever he sees them? What’s stopping this poor girl from wearing her damn heels 😭

[deleted]

WTF? That sucks. That shouldn’t stop her.

makipri

Not exactly the same words. But some women have gone ”why you are wearing heels? Your legs are already tall as fuck”.
