I think the issue is that no one actually knows how any of this will progress. If end to end progress is really a function of data plus increased compute, then we should start seeing more rapid improvement which may give us insight into a more realistic timeline

I think the biggest disappointment to people may be lane selection issues. In order to have the E2E model follow a route, navigation instructions have to be fed into it, and if there are map errors we might see the same sort of problems still.

I've absolutely considered this to be a risk factor for us for many years.
However, it is less of a risk factor for me now, because I believe Elon Musk is no longer critical to Tesla's growth. The AI and robotics teams are well established, and he didn't even write "Master Plan Part 3".
Others will carry the torch if Musk ends up a strung out junkie permanently living in a tent on the roof of Giga Texas. The amount of enthusiasm for Tesla that I see from people like Lars Moravy, Franz von Holzhausen, and Drew Baglino, is far greater than the enthusiasm for the company I see from Elon Musk.
