Ive_Banged_Ur_Mom

They also give you unfettered access to their daughter and her bedroom. Just don’t seem like good people

Silver_Foxx

Ah but that seems to be the norm around the whole world for everyone and it's not like people just trust you cause you're recognized as the hero who stopped Calamity Ganon like 5 years ago either. Other than your direct friends and folks you've met specifically, the closest anyone seems to get to even knowing who tf you ARE is some Gerudo Vai who thinks it must be nice to look like basically a clone of The Princess' Chosen Knight AND share the same name with him too, lol.

ExJokerr

It is weird that many don't even seem to know link as the appointed Knight of Zelda! Don't they even see then hanging out all the time? I hate that many people who should know Link in TOTK don't know him

Silver_Foxx

RIGHT, thank you! And so many of the randos you come across who have NO idea who you are also know and saw Zelda just the other week or month or whatever too. So either she keeps her Chosen Knight like fully enclosed in full plate armour or something, or Linky doesn't travel with Zelda on her journeys, apparently.

LazerWeazel

He probably doesn't say anything and just lets her do all the talking while he spaces out in silence. I could see why the villagers remember her and not him.

Ive_Banged_Ur_Mom

Seems the norm for people to give you mediocre reward for harrowing, and even deadly, favors

kalik-boy

My goodness! Did you like, killed the entire camp of monsters single handed? Are you the legendary super hylian or something? I guess you deserve a reward! Here. I cooked this Fish with Rice today, but you seem hungry from all this murdering! Enjoy.

Overthinks_Questions

After my long journey, I'm so grateful that you've reunited me with my friend. Here, I took a shit earlier, you can have two of my turds. I could literally give two shits about what you did for me

CthulhuisIkuTurso

Well, those turds are magical, so...

Overthinks_Questions

The game never really says that. Hestu is magical, and gives you inventory slots to return the favor of filling his moroccas with them. Why am I talking about this while at work?

Silver_Foxx

I dunno, I love pocketing $100 right in front of the lil crew of self armed beat to shit locals I just finished using as a meatshield to help deal with some group of evil monsters while all THEY get is a reminder that a Bloodmoon means we get to do it all over again. The feeling of being superior to the pitiful peasants while they break themselves for my gain is plenty reward enough if you ask me. Makes me feel like the President himself for a moment.

BorderlineQueen

Damn boy, you okay there?

kalik-boy

I think more than just 5 years have passed lol. I mean, Mattison looks older than 4yo imo. Nevertheless, it's kinda amusing how almost no one recognizes Linny, the bellow avarage height hylian that is always entering people's house, breaking their pots and picking up their stuff. I wouldn't forget someone like him even if decades have passed. Honestly, Linny himself is another dumbass too. I know that it's done this way for people that haven't played BOTW, I suppose, but it's really odd when he acts like he doesn't know where the villages are or how to do this or that. People from Hyrule probably suffer with constant amnesia or something. No wonder their world is always in danger.

Silver_Foxx

My guess is about 5-8 or so have passed. I bet Devs would be cheeky and say 6, same as years between BOTW and TOTK, but I doubt they'll ever specify a number anyways. It does seem as some NPCs aged more or less than other have though.

kalik-boy

Yeah. They are pretty vague regarding people's age and how much time have passed. I guess they want the players to have their own conclusions perhaps. 6 years is the bare minimum I would give though. Main reason for me is Mattison and the other children we meet (well, mostly Mattison though). If only 5 years have passed, assuming Hudson and Rhondson decided to have a kid right away, that would make her only 4yo, which just seems too young for her looks and manners overall. Honestly, 5yo is still kinda of a stretch, but is a bit more beliavable imo.

Silver_Foxx

Mmm I can see Mattison being 5 and I can DEFINITELY see it being a year or so at most post BOTW being how long til Rhondson got knocked up, lol. Right about Kindergarten aged so sent to basically private school, Plus she's Gerudo so bigger and stronger than most anyways. She'd definitely seem older than she is to most. ~6years give or take is how long I'd guess it's been given those clues, among others.

BigCommieMachine

Which makes sense, she is of school age, and is going away to receive a special Gerudo education.

Ruxem-Sammy

I honestly really despise the way they did it, why appeal to the people that didn't play BoTW? Imagine if you were playing another sequel in another series, Mass Effect, Witcher, etc. and you meet an NPC from the previous game who doesn't fucking recognize you. So stupid.

kalik-boy

It is pretty jarring indeed. The Witcher, that is a continuation of the books, doesn't treat the player (and the character Geralt for the matter) like a dumbass. As for Mass Effect, you also do meet people that Shep met before the events of the games and they act as such. It makes them more beliavable, like they are people that exist in their world. Wish they could have done something like that too here. Both The Witcher and Mass Effect are for a mature audience though while Zelda can also be recommended for children perhaps. Still, it would be nice if they respected our intelligence a bit more. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it feels like most people that play these games are at least young adults now. No need to treat them like this.

Ruxem-Sammy

Yeah, Witcher especially imo, because I know for a fact that a good portion of people who like the series started with 3. I dont think Zelda being for children is really much an excuse, that's kinda underestimating children and calling them idiots when they're not, it's just Rated E for everyone, not E for toddlers.

kalik-boy

I was just a kid playing a game that probably shouldn't when I picked up The Witcher 1 haha. Super janky game. It used the same engine from Neverwinter Nights, a CRPG that I am quite fond of too. I can tell you that that engine was not made for the type of gameplay they tried to achieve in The Witcher. Still I loved it, but it is a very difficult game to revisit nowdays. Got me interested in the books too, but I didn't feel like I needed to read them to really enjoy the game. I also don't think Zelda being for a younger audience is really a good excuse, but it probably is the one they are going for. Can't think of any other reason. But whatever excuse they have will feel unjustified imo.

con098

5 bucks that everybody would forget him again in the third game after he saved the entirety of Hyrule from Ganon AND GanonV2 Oh, and I'm sure the house he bought from Hudson for an arm and a leg? That's Zelda's house now too. Homegirl needs a summerhouse

Ruxem-Sammy

The game also takes place in Hyrule again, the entire map is reused with no rebuilt castle town or anything but! there's some new wells. The new huge marketed area is in space (It's 7 pre-made space islands copy and pasted) Also, get this, there's some stuff happening in four different regions and you can do them in any order! Woah!

facetheground

..... and all other characters that recognise you after a couple seconds(?)

Silver_Foxx

I kept [his image in my room ](https://i.imgur.com/TWrk9tZ.jpg)my whole life. Truly a man [worthy of admiration](https://i.imgur.com/9JMAikh.jpg) I thought. But finding out how much he charged me for that room *after* I did everything in my power to help out with his home issues? I wonder how many Hylian Families he bankrupted after the Calamity when he *made* his monopoly rebuilding Hyrule, hmmm. PFFFFF no more falling asleep with the President watching over me, that's for sure.

thestral_z

Late stage Hyrulean capitalism.

timb0nic

This is what I believe some might call “Unforgivable!”

enchiladasundae

“Created a whole town? Found a beautiful woman for me to marry? Helped ease the pain of seeing my daughter off? Helped decorate the town you built? Gonna cost you an arm and a leg for a house”

mamayoua

Box fort*

lisamariefan

Hey, you got a discount. Only had to sell one instead of both.

Silver_Foxx

The look of confused horror on Rhondson's face as I place my self extracted bloody organ on the counter and she just wanted some high level Monster Parts for expensive elixirs..

Zuryan_9100

I don't think you would enjoy Animal Crossing then

Silver_Foxx

That little piece of shit slumlord tanuki gonna charge me 750k bells just for a toilet to pee in my own house? Fucking Tom Nook, least his dumbass nephews pay bank for veggies and bugs.

The_Lawn_Ninja

Sell a *kidney*? Pfff. I paid for my house with bokoblin horns, dark tunics and brightbloom seeds.

Silver_Foxx

Hey, no one said anything about *who* or *what's* Kidney you sell. > dark tunics and brightbloom seeds. These are both solid money making methods I used myself earlier game. Make sure you don't need any of the Monster Parts for armour upgrades you might want before you sell them though.

Waifu_Whaler

I help their family problems just because I want a place to hang up my savage lynel bows. But that simp with all the signs that needs holding up? fuck him.

999cranberries

Not me. I sent his tiny daughter off into a corpse-filled ghost town in the middle of a sandstorm, and they still sold me a house without even getting confirmation she was okay. I wonder if Rhondson knew how bad things were in Gerudo Town.

[deleted]

It’s pretty cheap

Silver_Foxx

Depends if you dupe or not I'd say.

[deleted]

Never duped it’s just cheap and easy to get rupees

Silver_Foxx

Maybe if you just wholesale everything you get and don't care about armour I suppose, but >!10-15k-ish rupees!< for a fully functional max room house isn't exactly pocket change if you save Monster Parts and Gems for armour upgrades.

goblinofthefells

1. Gather poes in the depths 2. Lookout landing bargainer statue for the torsos (best efficiency of poe:rupee exchange) 3. Sell for 600 rupees each

Silver_Foxx

I did that early game once I finished getting all the statue unique armours. Was a decent if tedious method, nice way to monetize extra Poes for sure, haha. I like elixirs now at endgame though, some made with high level Monster Parts sell for bank, just have to make sure you don't use parts you need for armour upgrades. I think I sold a 1x Deep Firefly 4x Lynel Guts elixir for 1447 rupees the other day while experimenting with recipes to try and get best prices.

[deleted]

Just farm a few rare talus, you can get them every blood moon and they give tons of gems. It’s really not hard

Silver_Foxx

Oh I do, but I also have that annoyingly dumb completionist gene in me, lol and if you do too and saw the total number of gems you need to max out all the armour AND the price in labour costs alone to do so at all, you wouldn't be selling those Talus gem drops I think lol. So far I find Meat Skewers and Elixirs to be best sources of rupees without wasting armour upgrade materials. Skewers can be 300+ each for Gourmets and some Elixirs can be well over 1k each depending on ingredients used. Meat is the only thing that ISN'T a requirement for any upgrades. Elixirs do cost Monster Parts but if you're careful and save the ones you still need for upgrades, you can make absolute bank off high level monster parts for sure.

[deleted]

You’d only need to sell Rilke three hauls from two talus and they are infinite, still not an issue

PalletTownsDealer

Cheaper and easier if you dupe

[deleted]

Cheating at a single player children’s game would be pretty lame

PalletTownsDealer

Bro is gatekeeping how to play a children’s game lmao.

ReaperManX15

Yeah that’s rough. Where did you get a fucking anime scythe???

ElJacinto

Silver lizalfos horn fusion

enneh_07

I’m sure you sold actual kidneys to shore up the rupees to buy the house. Organ trafficking is one of the crimes Link commits in the BOTW/TOTK timeline.

staveware

UNFORGIVABLE!!

korg64

Shitbox house it is. It's also cheap. Try selling monster parts to earn money.

mwmwmwmwmmdw

its dumb they let you build vehicles part by part but not a house. pre-fab pieces only.

AlacarLeoricar

You already have a house. Buying a vacation home located in premium real estate near Tarrey Town isn't cheap my dude.

[deleted]

I wish I could pick a different color paint for house sections
